Bruce’s 5-star review: Holy shit. Korean BBQ without the hazy layer of smoke? Really? Are you really a legit Korean BBQ? Because honestly, if you've ever been to a Korean BBQ, that's a sign that it's a Korean BBQ. That hazy smoke, that resembles a pot shop in Amsterdam, except the flavor of smoke is that of pork, bulgogi, beef, and other marinated items. As you probably can see my rating for this place, yes, this place is definitely a real Korean BBQ (KBBQ) joint and a definite place to go if I ever have cravings to get some KBBQ. So let me run down what I did, what we ate as a group, and what I recommend you to do. (Note I went with a fellow ATL yelper who guided us here: http://feeddanny.yelp.com) ***All You Can Eat (Option 2)*** - We ordered this, and because I ordered this *everyone has to order the same thing*. Sure, there's a cheaper option for option 1. (I had a couple of friends who were wary about eating KBBQ and were leaning towards this option and I had to say that I'll cover the $5 each ($15) in order to get Option 2.) So as I was saying, for the All You Can Eat options, **everyone has to order the same thing** which makes sense. The reason why I recommend to order Option 2 is that it's $5 more, but the variety is a lot more. Plus, it's all you can eat for all the options and it gives you a more accurate portrayal of what KBBQ is all about. You must be saying to yourself, alright Bruce, big shit, they have an All You Can Eat option... All KBBQ places have that, what does this place separate themselves from competitors? For me, the winner is definitely the lack of haziness/clothes staining smoke that basically lingers on you for the rest of the day after eating KBBQ. I mean, I'm not going to say it's not welcomed, but I can only imagine if you eat KBBQ a lot and then have it always drenched on your clothes. Their ventilation system on the grill is boss. Also another note, this place is sort of on a higher end of presentation and sets a different kind of ambiance. It's not that it's not appreciated, but honestly I wouldn't care if it was a normal KBBQ with that ventilation system and not so much glamour or schnazzy-ness. I think there's a sort of a romantic about that hole-in-the-wall type of KBBQ and giving you a feeling that you really found something exciting. But, hey, I'm not going to complain. So what's the verdict? Definitely. Come. Eat. Here... If you're craving for Korean BBQ. Bruce’s 5-star review: Oh. Man. 24/7 Diner, and a huge menu... What could that mean? I think it's bliss. From italian food to greek food to american, you can choose whatever you want. This place is a blast from the past and when you see it, it's grand. They have the neon lights and everything that lights the place up. Inside, there's a ton of people. We went at like 10 PM and when we left right before midnight, the place was still packed as we first entered. That's a true sign of a restaurant that is a definite stop in my books. So lets jump right into why you're reading this, the food. I have several recommendations. If you're going to order an appetizer, order something small for your entree, such as like a burger or something along those lines. However, if you're ordering a dinner, no need to order an appetizer. Most likely, you won't finish the dinner anyways and you won't need to carry an extra box home. Also, they give you complimentary bread and a greek dish that's not coming to my mind at the moment. The dinner comes with a salad, soup, and the main course which is a huge dish of goodies. For me, I ordered a Matzoh Ball soup. It was okay, but I think a better choice would have been the Seafood Bisque (which I didn't get to try out because they ran out!) or the Cream Turkey soup, which my friend got and it looked delicious. They also make chicken noodle soup, which is what the Matzoh Ball soup fundamentally is, however they have a ball in the soup. Tossed salad, nothing crazy. You do have the choice to pick different type of salads and your choices are Greek, Tossed, or Caesar. Tomatoes, bell peppers, and your dressing is on the side. Now onto the main dish. I ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Gorgonzola. And boy was it good! It was a big dish and came with some broccoli. The dish had a good taste and was very creamy with the sauce. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Huge portions, which means a next meal in my books. And don't be wasteful, 90% I say who come in here leave with a take out box. Overall, my experience here was a definite yes. Amazing. Five stars. Thumbs up. Whatever you can think of that is a positive experience. I mean if you have less than 5 stars, I guess you could blame it on the wait, or not being able to get what you wanted in a fashionable amount of time? But for me, this will definitely be another stop I will go to if I'm in ATL and we're awake at odd hours of the night. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: What a place. What a burger. I came down to ATL for a friends birthday and he guided us here through the horrible parking. Even though the wait was 20 minutes, we waited because the parking was paid for... Anyways lets get to the appetizer that we ordered. And this is why I rated this place 5 stars, because the tater tots. This is the first place I've seen "Tachos" which is tater tots prepared like nachos. And how good it is, I prefer this over just nachos because it has a lot more depth. For the main dish I ordered the Yokohama Mama. I ordered this because there isn't any type of burger I've ever had that infused teriyaki sauce and pineapples on a burger. If you want to try something different, get this. The sweetness of the pineapple mixed well with the teriyaki sauce, that and the patty itself. I do wish they still had a burger with the chili though... Next time I'll be looking for that. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: Beware! You'll get your dollar's worth here. As they don't do anything small. The fact that they actively say that they don't do anything small is something to take into account. Look, I went with a couple of coworkers and one of them ordered some nachos. He couldn't get through it. He only finished half of it, and he's 6'3. Out of all the major choices, what did I order? I know I'm weak, but I ordered a salad. I ordered the seizure deluxe. It. Was. Big. On top of the salad I added chicken and also a couple of tacos. The tacos I got was pulled pork and shredded beef. Let's start with the salad. The dressing that came with it was sort of a vinegarette based sort of dressing. It was tasty. The tacos were scrumptious. There's something I did want to say though, I believe the pulled pork was a little dry to my taste. Both of the tacos, I got one hard shell and one soft shelled and toppings were pico de gallo and cheese. It was tasty! I enjoyed the shredded beef a little more though. Definitely a place to come eat, but if you're looking to go restaurant hopping or to go to another spot afterwards... forget it. This place will fill you up with good prices and you'll be either stuffed, or extremely pleased at what you ate. It's only a couple minutes walk away from the Marriott, where I stayed, so it's really convenient. I sat at the bar... on a weekday. So the service was good. I wouldn't be so sure as far as sitting at a table, but for the bar, the service is usually the best. I did notice that the tables didn't get quite as much attention, but then again it wasn't that busy. This place is worth checking out. -
Bruce’s 3-star review: Rhinehart's was suggested by my coworker and so we all agreed to try it out. Yelpers definitely have to keep an open mind! They don't serve horrible food and they do have specials. But, I think one thing I have to say for me to eat seafood I have to eat it fresh next to an ocean. And this especially goes for oysters. Fried oysters is probably a better option, but still I still probably wouldn't order that here. So what did I order? Franks Special. It was mediocre. A small piece of chicken, with cheese melted on top with peppers and mushrooms. It was served with a piece of garlic bread and a side salad. Nothing special. The service was good, as expected, especially since I sat at the bar. You get something to read when you go to the bathroom with all the "creative" graffiti... Yes, take that with a grain of salt. What else... I'm really grabbing for something to write, because this place just doesn't stand out to me. Just okay. Let's just say don't come with high expectations. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: As a first timer... I can't really compare this to anything. I've never had ice cream that was served in rolls. In some aspects, it was unique, but other times it was just sort of difficult eating it because they were served in rolls. From this 8 Fahrenheit we got the Green Mile, with Strawberry, Kiwi, and Pocky. The reason why I say that, is that every store has a different name for some of the same sort of ice cream. Really though, there's a lot of hype that comes along with this. I get it that it's cool to see ice cream prepared this way, but I think the hype dies immediately after the first time you see it. After it, it sort of becomes normal and the "wow" factor is completely gone. Let's get to the ice cream. I like it. The flavor that we chose was good because it wasn't too sweet and it was something we both enjoyed. The seating at this location is definitely limited. I think one thing to make 8 farenheit more efficient is what's up with the hand written numbers? I would think it would probably be a lot easier if it was just printed off with numbers on the ticket number or maybe use one of those line number (like in a butcher store?) 8 Farenheit is still pretty new, at the time 3-4 months in at the time that I visited. If you want more space, and more seating... I would recommend you to go to the one in Duluth. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: There's just something about that authentic smoky smell at Korean BBQ spots. Last time, I went to Breakers, without any after effects of that smell stained on your clothes. This time, since this was my GF's favorite spot, I had to try it out. So that smoky smell? Definitely exists here. When I cam here let's just say it was pretty hot as it seemed like their AC couldn't handle the heat from all the BBQing going on. Yep, that's part of that experience. Sweating it out with the hot coal grills along with chowing down on all that meat. Okay, I'm going have to be honest here... I think I need another go around at 678 because a party of 7 and not getting all you can eat is a bad choice. We ordered a Combo (Beef, Chicken, and Pork) and let's just say even though I got to eat some, it wasn't quite filling for everyone. So definitely next time I go to this place will definitely all you can eat, or with a smaller party. Overall the experience is where it's at. As all Korean BBQ joints, the kim chee are endless along with other assortment of dishes. In the outer ring of where the grill is sits compartmentalized areas where they fill with cheese and corn, eggs, and kim chee with bean sprouts. One thing about this place also is that seating is a little hard at 7 people. I think one thing to remember here is to count how many heads are going to partake feasting with you. Definitely check this place out if you want a true true experience of what Korean BBQ is about. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: Banh Mi. Need I say more? I don't even know what to say about this place. The Banh Mi is fresh, it's not overly priced and that's just how it's supposed to be! We came here for lunch and then again before I left to basically load up before I went back to TN. I'm glad I did as well because of the 6 sandwiches I ate, throughout the week, they were all still good! If you don't know what a Banh Mi is, it's a Vietnamese sub/sandwich. If you know your history, you know that the French once occupied Vietnam as a colony and is why the bread is a baguette. I got the combination, which is how I've always saw the original banh mi. In it comes with pickled carrots, daikon (pickled radish), cilantro, fresh jalapeños, pork, and paté. It's usually all cold cuts, meat wise, and in the end you just get this amazing sandwich which you just won't get enough of. I've been told that Lee's Bakery has the freshest bread, which is key in having a good banh mi, and that they make the bread fresh daily in the back. They then sell the baguettes that aren't used the previous day in the front for a great bargain at 3 for $1! All in all. This place is great. Banh Mi galore, and I will definitely be coming back here as a stop to get my fill for legit banh mi. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: Holeman & Finch. There are absolutely so many diverse parts of a pig you can eat at this restaurant! My friends took me here for a culinary tasting experience as it was on of their favorite places. I keep my mind open when it comes to eating so I definitely wanted to try everything that this place offered. We started off with some appetizers. First, a little bit on the mild side with some deviled eggs, there were three kinds which I couldn't remember each but we just had one each. There wasn't much comparison in that department from me. Next we had some pancakes served with a bacon infused jelly and was topped off with an egg. Absolutely amazing. As a bacon lover, the jam was amazing I definitely would recommend you to get this dish. Another dish that we ordered that wasn't quite as so rare was the steak tartare. It was good, would definitely order these items if you want a more tamed appetizer eating. Next we ordered the liver. I'm not so big on liver because it always gives me this sort of metallic taste that lingers on the tip of my tongue that is sort of off putting. However, I did try this liver. If you love liver, as my friend does, you will most assuredly like this liver. It's served with some triangle bite toast which you dip it in to this sweet gelatin type of liver. Not bad, but still not my favorite. Now comes a special dish: Veal brain. Yeah, you read it right. They have veal brain at Holeman & Finch. If you're an adventurous eater and want to try something new and experience a new part of the cow this is up there. Let me explain what it tastes like. It's just fat, if you've ever had that then that's what it tastes like. It's served with again toast and also with capers. The problem with this dish for me was that it wasn't so seasoned so well. I felt that it lacked flavor, but overall it was an interesting experience. For my entreé, I ordered something simple. A burger. I know right, crazy dishes and then a burger. Yep, it was simple and juicy. I thought the fries were good as well but I didn't finish it all. I also tried the braised pork that my friend ordered, it had great flavor and the meat was extremely tender. Amazing. Definitely check out Holeman & Finch if you're in the area or if you want a new experience. This place definitely kept me off guard and on my toes the ambiance, service, and experience was just all around amazing. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: You know what made this restaurant a 4 for me instead of a 3? The service. The food was a 3, at best. At first it was spotty but they proved to me that it 's not always about the food and sometimes it's just the service that matters more. I came here with a couple of friends on a Tuesday, during lunch and it wasn't as busy. We were the first people at this place for lunch. The parking is a little difficult and so we just decided to valet park. We went inside and were told that we could sit anywhere we wanted to so ultimately we decided to get a seat outside as it was sunny and it wasn't so overbearingly hot. Our server was nice, and came and took our drink orders and our appetizers. We first ordered a dozen shucked oysters to share among us three. They weren't bad! Especially considering eating seafood in a land locked city in addition to outside of oyster season isn't usually ideal. I ordered a Lobster roll and it wasn't a lobster roll. The lobster roll that i think of when I order this sandwich is the one loaded with ton of lobster on a roll, mixed with a type of mayo, you know the New England style. This one though was definitely not that. It was truly just a super traditional lobster roll. If that's something you're not looking for I would highly suggest not to order that dish. I also had a bowl of lobster bisque. It was meh. Nothing exciting. It was okay. So, the food wasn't any good. Just about 3 stars. The service though was a little different. The atmosphere that they showed us sort of a family feel. When we left, there was an incident near where we were at and cops closed down streets so we couldn't get to our car (valeted). We went back in to see if we could wait it out, and so we got a beer and sat at the bar. When we were going to ask for the check, the restaurant swallowed the bill! I mean, we were willing to pay as well. I think small acts like that say a lot about a restaurant and the people that run it. Overall, stay away from the lobster roll. Come here and try another menu item and enjoy the friendly service because that was definitely what made me a fan. -
Bruce’s 3-star review: All you can eat for $23. Only downside is... Hopefully you don't get hit with a 2 hour wait time. According to all my friends, this place was actually updated since the last time they went, which was about a year or two ago. When you walk in, you go through a long hall and it seems like you're about to step into a club. And at the end... you're really stepping in a club except the only difference is that there's KBBQ. Weird I know. Big screen projector TVs line the wall playing straight k-pop music. Literally that was what was blasting through the speakers the whole night, and I felt as if it sort of was a little distracting. We waited for 15 minutes when we came in at 9 PM and basically there were plenty of seating. But, we still waited for 15 minutes. After we were sat down the server took our drinks and took our orders. It was pretty simple for us as we all were starving and went in for the all you can eat. They brought us you know, all of the sides, which includes kimchee, salad, various pickled veggies, if you have ever had korean bbq, the usual. However, one thing that sort of turned me off was that the amount of the sides were so small. Especially the amount of kimchi. We had to constantly ask for kimchi throughout the night and let's just say every time we had to flag down a waiter. The waiter went back and forth doing other tasks without really paying attention. I sort of felt bad to ask for more kimchi constantly, but you would think if we were going through so much he would just have gave us more... Nope. However, the food was good. Definitely got my fill of meats and they even had octopus which was a nice change from just the usual meat and to have it unlimited was a bonus. Overall, Iron Age isn't bad. In my opinion, it was just a club with KBBQ. I mean, the place is opened till 2 AM. The food was good, but Iron Age could do better by being more attentive. Not my top choice for Korean BBQ, but I guess I would come here if it's in the middle of the night. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: You know you're onto a good Asian restaurant when you pull in and have to search for the restaurant because it's tucked behind a bigger building and the whole thing looks a little shady. Yep. I just described where Yet Tuh is. And damn, it's pretty amazing Korean Food. For what I had, it was delicious and I came to the conclusion that I definitely have to come to Atlanta more often. I came here with a party and well let's just say I didn't come here with an extremely big appetite as we probably just ate a mere 3 hours before. It was the last day I was in Atlanta after all, so I sort of had to eat all I could. We came here and I tried out their bibimbap. This place is definitely limited as far as seating goes. I wouldn't be surprised if this place would have a waiting time. It was pretty much full when we were eating there, so it was a little hectic. There was a little mix up where the rice with the bibimbap sort of went to someone else and so I didn't have rice with the bibimbap...and yeah. After all that was sorted out, the bibimbap was good. I mean, I haven't had this dish for a while and well, while it isn't that hard to prepare, you can just taste it. I was itching to order something more adventurous, but my full belly was telling me not to and just go easy because I still had a 3 hour drive ahead of me back to Knoxville. Bibimbap isn't that heavy, if you don't eat a ton of rice, so for me it was perfect. All in all, our party was very satisfied. We left with full stomachs, good conversation, and positive vibes. I would definitely recommend to check out this place.

Bruce’s 5-star review: Definitely like this location more than the location on Buford. (If you didn't read my other review on the location on Buford: http://bit.ly/2atOUNK) This place just opened when I came through. Tons of space and definitely more seating. They could definitely put in even more seating as they have that much space. I enjoyed this place due to just that and not feeling as if I was going to be suffocated. The ice cream: We got the Thai Tea Ice Cream this time mixed with Pocky, Kiwi, and Strawberry. And we both felt as if the thai tea ice cream wasn't as good as the Matcha flavor. I think for both of us it was a little too sweet. However, with the atmosphere of the restaurant along with the open space definitely helped this ice cream spot over the Buford location. You can bring bigger parties here and have plenty of seating, in fact I would say that they could put even more seating if they desired to. Would definitely recommend to come here and try some of their flavors. They have different names for them, so it isn't quite standard, however they're pretty much the same. But for us, we'll probably stick to matcha for our next visit. Read my review on Buford if you don't know what this place is about! -
Bruce’s 4-star review: Hm. I never knew there was such thing as a Korean style sushi before. Yet again, I'm surprised at all the cuisines that I miss out not living in a big city. I came here with the gf as we were in the mood for Korean food and the experience was something new. As I said before, I never knew what Gimbap was (and I can hear my gf say "how Asian are you?!" in the back of my mind when I say that.) But anyways, let's get to it. Walking into this place it sort of reminded me of a laid back sort of spot. Kind of like a cafe or something because there were a lot of families and kids that were here as well as the k-pop playing on the TV. We sat down and ordered some food. Like always, the korean restaurant gave us some banchan, this time it was just pickled radish and some sauces to dip our food in. One was a spicy soy sauce and We got the fish cake, a gimbap roll, and a don katsu plate. I do have to mention that when they brought out the plates, they were super cute because you were basically eating out of a kiddy dish. Yes, I mean a little mermaid plate. I myself ate out of a Disney Princess plate. I felt fancy. The food was wonderful. The fish cake came in this measuring cup and the cake itself was skewered. It had a good amount of flavor, thanks to the broth it sat in. The gimbap was interesting! I liked it. To me though I guess I'm a little noobish or just because it was my first time trying out gimbap it just reminded me of sushi. That's all that went through my mind. Well, I guess the only thing that was different was that it wasn't rolled with fish and rather different ingredients. The experience reminded me of a place in Charlotte named Cowfish and they made this sushi called a burgushi where they fused burger parts in a roll. Finally the Katsu was definitely filling. Believe me, this is a meal. By the time we got done with the dish, we were stuffed. The pork cutlet was packed with flavor and it was great, and it wasn't going to be a let down just because it was covered in a glaze sort of sauce. Along with the pork cutlet there was salads/side dishes. Overall, yet another spot that can go on my list to visit if I'm ever looking for a Korean experience. I'm a fan! I would recommend you to check this place out. -
Bruce’s 2-star review: What is wrong with this place? There seems to be a lot of confusion here. (I didn't write that line, that line was from a special critic that I take in account.) There were so many negatives, I honestly don't know where to begin. I guess I'll start from the top. When we walk in, the place is probably about 25% full, and there were plenty of tables, everywhere. We were guided to a table in the back of the restaurant right next to the bathroom. I was wondering why we were led so far back and at this table because it just didn't make sense when there were just so many tables everywhere else. We then moved ourselves to a different table, still sort of close to the bathroom, but at least we had our own table. Next up: Beer. We ordered our drinks and asked the waitress if they had this certain beer. We scanned the fridge and saw what we wanted and said if we could have that. Queue the waiting time. She was still confused and was still looking at the iPad that lists all their beers and we literally had to point out the beer that we wanted. Finally the beers come. She comes to mine, me waiting patiently, she pops the top and starts pouring. She over pours with a shit ton of head on top and it overflows. Yeah. IF YOU CAN'T POUR BEER, DON'T POUR BEER. I mean, just let me pour it and if I screw up it's on me. Don't try to over exert yourself and try to prove that you're a better waiter. Maybe she needs some practice? Along that, she hardly didn't seem knowledgeable at all with the types of beer/flavor of the beer the establishment holds. Let's get to food: I was going to order the flatbread, but a last minute decision made me order the Pork Schnitzel. The guest critic ordered the bratwurst that was on the $5 happy hour menu, he also was deciding between the tacos and the bratwurst, but the waitress said that the bratwurst had a bigger portion. He told her to hold the bun though and instead get more veggies and sauerkraut. The pork schnitzel was... meh. I felt like for a $13, it really wasn't worth it. It was laid on top of a pile of mash potatoes and then some pan fried kale with a sunny side egg on top of the schnitzel with capers. The pork was a little too fried? I mean it was extremely crispy but it just lacked flavor. The bratwurst... was pathetic. It was served in a doggy plate and it was just this sausage and barely any sauerkraut and any veggies. You would expect that those side items would be loaded on the side of the bratwurst, but nope. Next the checks: One person from my party was charged for a $25 beer whereas it was listed on their inventory as $11. We then had to PROVE that it was $11. She asked the manager, then came back and said it was $25. I then looked it up and showed that it was indeed $11. I mean come on. They later came back and said "on your next visit, use this coupon to get a free flatbread..." We won't be back though. The only thing that this place was saved was just the selection of beer. So many selections. I mean, it'll take some time for you to receive your beer, but at least you get a shit ton of amount of choices. I sort of had iffy feelings about this place when I saw their reviews, but the party wanted their choices of beer. Since a good amount of breweries are closed on Monday, this was the choice for the night. If you decide to come here... 1: sit at the bar. 2: only order beer. That's my only two suggestions. My experience with service was horrible and the food was mediocre at best. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: Augusta, you have an unbelievable spot. A hidden gem. If you haven't checked this place out and you live here, I really don't know what you've been eating. I say this place is the first place that has gotten a 5 star in Augusta. Why? Because of the whole experience I had on one of my last meals before leaving to head back to Knoxville. Let me talk about my experience. I can see how this restaurant/catering has been in business for 16 years. You can tell the first time you walk through the door. They truly stand by their words that if you eat there, you are family. I ordered the Philly Steak Kitchen Sink which basically comes with everything. The sandwich had a hint of spiciness, which was welcomed. The cheese was amazing because what I liked about it was that it wasn't cheese wiz. While my sandwich was being cooked I walked around the place and well, I found out from reading one of the many articles on the wall the son went to Johnson and Wales! The atmosphere is something that just couldn't be replicated. I didn't expect a low quality sandwich when I walked around their interior because they cared about their home feel restaurant. I know that the cheese steak looks a tad bit messy, but that's how it's supposed to look because the taste is out of this world. I would truly recommend on coming here to get a cheesesteak and talk to them a little bit because they are more than welcoming and social. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: Hm. I can see why this place doesn't have such great reviews, but for me I thought it was just fine. I think probably because there weren't that many people or staff around I felt that if you got sat at a table you wouldn't get the best service. Anyways, when I came here I sat at the bar so that pretty much eliminated my waiter problem as there was a bartender and there were no drinkers there. So what did I get? I got three tacos, after my crappy experience next door at the World of Beer. I got the Fried Chicken, Mahi Mahi, and the Executive tacos. They were all pretty good! So definitely I feel that the food here isn't the bad part, it's probably the service that was a turn down for everyone. My suggestion? If you come on a weekday, go and sit by the bar and you won't go wrong. I would probably avoid this place on a busy night as I think they're probably understaffed. But, if you can deal with the wait, then I would say definitely to check this place out and try some of their food. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: As the love of desserts is strong with my GF, we came here with friends to try out some macaroons. After going through all the choices we finally decided on one that peaked our interest and that was the Green Tea Ice Cream macaroon. It was good, but I'm pretty sure there were better options to pick as this place definitely is a one stop shop for all things macaroons. The interior was nice and clean, and as you would guess, it's sort of like a deli/cafe. The design of this shop was something that gave a feeling of welcome and I guess a little bit of wonder of how their macaroons tasted? And honestly, I sort of felt a little like in a tech shop which perfectly fits Mac Lab's name. This place is definitely a place to check out if you're looking for a place to go study instead of your usual Starbucks or any type of other coffee spot. -
Bruce’s 3-star review: Let's start this off by saying well, the outfit chosen by the cashier well, let's just say it was a little exposing. Probably not a good look for the store. But hey, maybe she has a second profession and she has to get to that work after this job? I could just be guessing, or I could be correct... But ordering your dessert and getting a full view of the moon doesn't quite fit in at a dessert store. We came here for a quick dessert and other than the interesting wardrobe selection, the dessert was great! This is definitely a pick up spot and not somewhere to hang out at... at least not for me. I can't quite tell you what I got, as my GF ordered it, but it was good! It was definitely taro though. I think if it wasn't for the wardrobe of the person behind the register this place would definitely be 4 stars. It's dessert. Affordable, but limited seating, and well if you're near by and you want to try Vietnamese desserts, this is a place to check out. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: To know that your burger came from a place where you don't have to worry about hormones, I guess is a plus side to Farm Burger. Walking in, I thought the interior was spacious and inviting as far as appetite goes. Off to the left it seemed that there was a dessert spot, an ice cream stand, but I never went and took a look so I guess that was a lost opportunity. I came here to specifically to get a burger and then head out. So, I went in there with a plan. I order the number 6 burger and it was just okay, but I'm sure if I were to come back to this place there would be plenty of other options and combinations to try out that I'm guessing would blow competition out of the water. Burger wasn't the best, but farm burger definitely won me over as far as the service and the creativity that this place could offer. I think it's a place to be looked at if you're in the mood for a burger. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: This place... offers no tea. Which is weird, because well it's a "hot pot" place. I came here with my GF and family as this was going to be a new experience. When I walked in I thought it was a traditional hot pot... you know all you can eat pot in the middle with a burner and you cook your own ingredients, meat, etc. Nope! This place is an order off the menu spot and they bring it out, personal order style. So I ordered Hot Pot #2, which was the curry fish balls. It was pretty interesting because well it was basically a soup that was brought out with cooked ingredients inside. With the pot, they also included a little small flame that was placed under the mini bowl and well kept the soup warm to the point where it was still somewhat boiling. It's a nice take on the hot pot, personalizing it so everyone can eat their own types of flavors. I enjoyed my experience, it was a little different from the normal hot pot and it was a refreshing take. Other than that, I think it's a place to check out for a little twist on the normal hot pot.

Bruce’s 5-star review: Finally, a bubble tea shop where they offer 30% sugar! I was quite surprised when I saw this that I thought it was a dream. I guess when it comes to bubble tea, that all the drinks nowadays are so sweet to the point where it basically is a dessert. I like the taste of the tea when I have bubble tea so knowing that there was a 30% option I jumped for it. I'm pretty sure that this review will probably be blasphemous for sweet dessert lovers, but hey, that's how I roll. So what did I order? I ordered the usual, black milk tea along with I believe chia seeds and lychee. That taste of a hint of sweetness and that tea, was great. I definitely recommend Kung Fu Tea for all your boba needs. I have to say this place tops Sweet Hut for me because of the 30% sugar and is definitely a recommended spot. -
Bruce’s 3-star review: Another interesting type of cuisine that I've never had before. Thanks to the GF, I came here with her family and tried out this Korean cuisine. This tofu house is located basically as a part of block of businesses tucked near the corner of the building. And I believe to save electricity, this place was freezing. And well on top of that they used heating lamps to heat this place up... I guess that's how Asian it can get. I guess I'll start with the bad this time around. Let's just say their service was shit. I'm thinking this they follow the true Asian code of bad service and where you basically have to yell at the waiter or forced to be rude to get any sort of service. I believe all of our water cups were empty and the side dishes? What side dishes? Unlimited? Nope. Just only when you ask, but then what do you do when there's no one to ask? Yep, that's when you're turned into a rude yelling monster because there's no one there to acknowledge you. So the lesson here is... it's okay to be rude? Now the okay portion of the night: the food. I ordered the kim chee beef with Galbi Short Ribs. I throughly enjoyed the tofu kim chee as this was my first experience in eating this dish, so really I have no comparison. I think though for me it was more about the people that I was eating it with, however you know without some water and it's sort of hard to have conversations. So overall, shitty service and okay food. So I'm going to stick with a 2.5 as some of these side dishes were something different where I haven't ever seen before at other Korean restaurants. I don't know if I'll ever be back, but it wasn't bad. -
Bruce’s 3-star review: I came here after a dinner, and well... it's not bad, but it's far from the best. This sort of just reminds me of Thai Ice Cream. Pick your flavors, they put it on a freeze plate and scrape it and done. But, this place is a little different as they don't make it circular and rather it just comes out as a sheet. This made it a little hard to eat...with a spoon. The GF and I shared a matcha yogurt with peanuts and strawberries. We got the cup to hold it all which i guess did a good job. But, the problem with this was that it's sort of hard to eat it with a spoon. I think it sort of drove us to eat it with our fingers, which didn't really jive well? Anyways, I think this ice cream would work well with a spork? Or at least the end when it's starting to melt to move over to a spoon. Other than the yogurt a little hard to eat, it wasn't bad. I thought the flavors were there but it wasn't my favorite. The shop is just like any other Asian Cafe that I can think of. They did have nice couches and post its all over the place. It sort of reminded me of Fahrenheit. It's good, but certainly not the best that Duluth has to offer. -
Bruce’s 5-star review: If Las Tortas was in walking distance or maybe a 5 minute drive for me, this place would definitely be on my radar and somewhere I would go to. You just can't beat the price and what you're getting. I can only wish I could have this in Knoxville. This one is going to be pretty short, as there's not much to it. "Hole in the wall" spot, and I believe a chain, with some limited seating the interior is quite simplistic. Menu on the wall just like a Chinese take out spot, except this place has just Tortas and tacos. There's a TV in the corner blasting out Mexican TV Dramas or news or whatever is on. So what did I get? A torta. Surprise. I got the Texana torta, which has steak, bacon, bell pepper, and cheese. I wished though that I had a pastor torta with cheese. I guess at the time I didn't look through the menu fully and skipped it and instead of looking at the special menu I just looked under the tortas menu. It's okay though, because no doubt that I will be back and order correctly. Now, the total price? 6 dollars. Yep. 6. Would I come back? Yep. I'm planning on it. I would definitely recommend you try this chain out if you're up for a quick bite, and a torta is a perfect sandwich for that. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: Boxete. I mean, you have to go with Korean food when you're in Duluth right? Anyways, as a post "meeting" celebration we came here to eat and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done in planning our trip. Anyways, now let's get to this place. Boxete is very spacious, and it opens up to booths aligned on the side of each wall. I kind of felt that there was an abundance of space. The service here was pretty great, always attentive. Their menu option is pretty big, but to get the most out of everything we just got the sampler. I wanted to also try out their kimbap so we also ordered those. We opted to go with the Tuna Mayo Kimbap and also the Boxete sampler with sweet and chili chicken. When we received our Kimbap, we noticed that it wasn't really the Tuna Mayo Kimbap, and rather the beef one. The mistake was on them and they said it was on the house. That was pretty awesome, instead of taking it back even when we didn't touch it. But gladly, like the foodie I am, I gladly took it and ate it. Our Boxete sampler wasn't bad. The Sweet and Chili Chicken wasn't my favorite, it was really sweet and not much of a chili sort of heat to it. I'm not really a sweet tooth, so it just didn't float my boat when the chicken was glazed pretty heavily. I think I should have picked something out of the ordinary instead of going for a more normal Korean style dish because this place is not like a traditional Korean joint. I feel like it's more catering to the western world and has that sort of feeling of a diner. Honestly, if we ever do come back here I will try out the burger that they have on their menu or the fried chicken. Overall, it was a good experience and somewhere that I will keep in mind if Korean food is in my thoughts and we want to try something else on the menu here. I would recommend it if you're new to the Korean food scene.

Bruce’s 4-star review: Nothing new about this place, you know how Korean BBQ operates. The differences are subtle but depending on the person it could be a big deal or small. Walking inside, it sort of reminded me of the layout of Breakers. You know, booths among booths, however it's a little busier as there's TVs lined up against the walls and was a mix of League of Legends and Korean pop videos... something like Iron Age. The differences that this place takes are the charcoal grills and the overhead vent. So yes, you'll definitely get blasted with that smokey marinated meat smell all over your clothes. But, please, don't let that deter you. When we came here we had amazing service, as we didn't need to even touch the meat or flip anything over. Now, I think that there are some limitations to this, as if it gets busy...you're not going to get that service. We went right when they opened for their lunch. We found it a little bit ridiculous that the brisket was the only option of meat that was the price difference between the $29.99 and the $35.99 whereas, every other KBBQ place the brisket was pretty much a given and basic meat. We could have gotten the plates, however that price was the same compared to unlimited for $35.99 and you can order more of what you want rather than a set platter of meats. This goes to you getting more brisket or pork belly, than a huge piece of steak. But hey, whatever floats your boat is the saying right? However, if your party doesn't eat that much, platter would be the clear winner. Overall, this place isn't bad. I thought 9292 was a good KBBQ spot. I think next time we will be ordering the platter if it's just us two so we can get that full range of meats and also for the GF to get her kimchi fried rice. This place will definitely be on a list of options of the multiple places of KBBQ restaurants to go to when we're in town. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: Discount tires does it all. Originally I got tires installed in Knoxville, knowing that I was coming down to do some other car maintenance... We came here for the balance and tire rotation. And as usual, Discount Tire did not fail. All they needed to know was my phone number and that was it. They were all good with the tire rotation and balance. Instead of doing it at Toyota, this place can do it for free if you bought the tires there (or got them installed at any Discount Tire Store). This place had great customer service and I'm sure that if we ever come back down here and need some tire work along with the other car work we'll be visiting this place to get the tire work done. Recommend Discount Tire for all your tire needs. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: You know... The only bad part, and it's pretty bad at times, is that the parking sucks ass. Those who drive by or come across this parking lot will understand or know exactly what I'm talking about. We came here as our last trip before we went back to Knoxville to get our bubble tea cravings in and when we turned into the parking lot we saw cars circling around the parking lot waiting for a spot to open up. This parking lot serves several businesses and a mexican restaurant, and if business is good, this parking lot will not hold that many cars. It was faster for the GF to run in there get our drinks and us to leave. So instead of parking, I just hit the hazards, pulled to the side, and just waited making plenty of other cars to pass me if they needed to. Otherwise, this place is pretty normal just like the other Kung Fu Teas. I do have to say the best part of this boba shop is that they can limit the sugar up to 25%. It helps when you're not trying to get a sugar rush and crash driving back to Tennessee. Overall, this place is just fine during non-busy hours, and well if you ever get the chance to actually see it on a busy, nice sunny day... I'm sorry. And good luck finding a parking spot. -
Bruce’s 4-star review: I came to Pijiu Belly for a brunch. This place was pretty interesting as they take a Korean spin on the food and mixes it up. The party that we came was pretty big, so let's just get straight to the food. I ordered the Three Meat Scramble and I got to try out the Pork Belly Egg Benedict, because well everyone ordered it (including the GF). So I'll keep this short and simple. The Three Meat Scramble? Meh. The dish was drizzled with this mustard sauce that was just completely overpowering. If they laid down on the sauce it would be better. The pork belly egg benedict was basically a farm house type dish. Instead of being served on english muffins, it was served on full hamburger buns. It was massive for a breakfast meal. Definitely worth it. I think one thing I took away from here was if I were to come back, I would definitely eye the Chicken and Waffles because I saw other tables order it and it looked pretty tasty. So, I think if I were to give you a tip this would be it... If you're at brunch, give that chicken and waffles a look. I enjoyed Pijiu Belly. Definitely should be a spot to check out if you're looking for brunch.
