Marissa’s 4-star review: Recently I tried ordering from City BBQ for dinner and really enjoyed the quality of the food and prices. I ordered the sampler, with mac & cheese and a banana pudding as my 2 sides. I enjoyed everything. The serving size was enough to have lunch the next day. The brisket, turkey and pulled pork were all tender and moist. My favorite being the brisket. The Texas toast was fresh, toasted and soft. I enjoyed the Mac & Cheese made with cavatappi noodles instead of elbow. It gave it texture and the dish was not overly salty. The banana pudding was also very good, just too sweet with added sugars. There were so many side dishes on the menu to choose from. I would definitely order and dine in again. Delicious barbecue. -

Marissa’s 4-star review: What I enjoy about living in Raleigh is how much the city's park & recreation dept truly invests in their residents. I visited the Brier Creek Park Community Center this evening to attend my daughter's first day of Elite Basketball Training. This center is very clean and modern. The front desk staff provided a welcoming experience. They are very organized here. Prior to visiting, I emailed several staff to confirm my daughter's attendance and they were all very polite and responsive. Miss Gibson at the front desk was extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make a positive first impression. Training was organized and Coach Urysla Cotton is phenomenal! If you have a young athlete this center is awesome. There was a Caribbean Zumba class going on while we visited. I will also return for the adult programs as well. -

Marissa’s 4-star review: Fresko is a excellent choice for healthier Mediterranean meals. I was famished and in the mood for Greek so I decided on the Build Your Own Bowl. I chose falafel and chicken as my protein, the spinach rice, added cucumbers, roasted red pepper, pickled onion, Kalamata olives, banana peppers and spicy feta, olive oil & cilantro as my sauce. This was the most flavorful, rich bowl I've had. I ordered the lemon soup but it wasn't authentic. Everything was perfection and plated well. My daughter enjoyed spanakopita (spinach pie) and loved it. It was her first time trying it. I will absolutely return again for a meal. Delicious ! -

Marissa’s 5-star review: This is a beautiful community center located downtown Raleigh that offers so much to the community they serve. We frequent the center for the city of Raleigh's Girls basketball league practices. The gym here is beautiful and the facility is immaculately clean. The desk staff is pleasant and welcoming. There is a historical carousel that I am in love with here. It's a beautiful touch if you're having an event. This center features a plethora of options to throw an event for a rental cost. They offer a reception hall, studio, carousel house, 2 multi purpose rooms, the gymnasium, and fields. The center offers a beautiful view of the city skyline at night. The park on the property is gorgeous and has a wonderful playground as well as walking trails. -
Marissa’s 5-star review: Goodberrys is a classic frozen custard shop here in Raleigh that serves rich and delicious flavorful custard. I have visited the Strickland location but today was a humid Saturday, so I decided to stop in for custard with family on Spring Forest Road. This location has the friendliest staff! Service was excellent !!! My daughter had chocolate custard on a cone and my mother decided on the flavor of the day with two scoops of Butter Pecan. All very rich, fresh and delicious. I enjoy the beautiful bright clear lights on the business sign and cute red outdoor seating. I can't wait to return for a concrete, sundae or a Float. -
Marissa’s 5-star review: Resources for Seniors has been a saving grace for me when recently becoming a caregiver for my mother. They provide several services and of course, resources for caregivers. This location is home to the Total Life Center that provides Adult Daycare. I am grateful for the Saturday Daybreak program, that allows me the peace of mind to practice self care as a caregiver to a parent with dementia. This program provides respite and reassurance. Mom can have a place she looks forward to visiting while I spend time running errands or having a much needed break from caregiving. Thank You to the Senior Resources staff and management here in Raleigh. -

Marissa’s 5-star review: Chavis Park is named after John Chavis, a free Black educator, Presbyterian minister, and American Revolutionary War veteran. In 1808, he opened his first school, the site of which was located near the grounds of modern-day Chavis Park. There is rich black history here at this park. If you visit the community center on its grounds you can see the black and white photos adorning the walls of the center dating back to the 60's featuring the people of this African American community. This is a beautiful park that is home to the main attraction its early 20th-century carousel. Allan Herschell Carousel, showcases a Wurlitzer 146A band organ, oil paintings of waterfalls and other natural scenes, and thirty-six jumping, hand-carved, hand-painted horses. There are several indoor and outdoor spaces available to the public and for rent. In addition a playground, tennis courts, and a pool, the park offers a community center, picnic shelters, a gymnasium, a lit, outdoor track, a fitness center, and a game room. A half-mile of Raleigh's Capital Area Greenway traverses the park via Little Rock Trail. During the week my daughter attends basketball practice here and we love the view of the city skyline from the community center This is my favorite park in the Raleigh area. -
Marissa’s 4-star review: I finally had a chance to try the famous Nothing Bundt Cakes for my free birthday Bundtlet this year. Customer Service was excellent and when I visited there was not much foot traffic. I visited on a Friday afternoon and there was no wait to order. I met a friendly cashier and discussed her recommendations. I decided on the lemon bundtlet. This was perfect for me as a lemon lover. The cakes here are extremely moist, as Bundt cakes should be. I am not a cream cheese frosting fan, but this was bearable. My daughter approved and she hates cream cheese icing. Try them out when you have a sweet tooth craving!
