Want to know what your Android device’s IP address is, but aren’t sure where to find it?
No problem – we’ll show you how to find IP address on Android devices very fast in this quick five-minute guide. Also, we’ll cover different methods instead of just one.
Internal IP vs. External IP
Before we begin, here’s quick note about internal IP addresses and external IP addresses:
- Internal IPs – This is the address routers assign to devices that are connected to their network. Only the router and other devices on the same network can see internal IPs, so they’re not visible to external devices on the Internet. Internal IP addresses are used to differentiate devices (much like MAC addresses), so that routers know where to direct the requested online traffic.
- External IPs – This is the address an ISP assigns a router to help it communicate with the Internet. This IP address is visible to anyone who is on the web.
Our guide will show you how to find external IP addresses on Android. You don’t really need to bother with internal IPs. Plus, we don’t really know a way to find them on Android. You’d have to log into your router’s web interface to see them.
Here’s How to Find IP Address on Android
It’s a very simple process. Before we start, though, you should know that, for this tutorial, we used Android version 10 and a Galaxy A51 smartphone.
So, to start off just tap the Settings button, and scroll down until you see About phone. When you find it, tap it.
Next, tap Status. You should find a field called IP address somewhere at the top.
If you see two IP addresses (like in our case), the first one is your IPv6 address, and the second one is your IPv4 address. If IPv6 is disabled on your device or network, you’ll only see the IPv4 address.
How to Find WiFi IP Address on Android
You can follow the same steps as above. Whenever you connect to a new network or use mobile data, the IP address displayed in Settings > About phone > Status will change.
If you don’t believe us, you can check your WiFi IP address another way. Head to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
Next to the WiFi network you’re using, tap the cog wheel icon.
And there you have your IP address. As you can see in this screenshot, it’s the same as the one displayed with the Settings > About phone > Status method.
How Do I Find the IP Address of My Android Phone with Online Tools?

How to Hide or Change Your IP Address on Android
The easiest thing you can do is switch on mobile data or connect to a different network. Your telecom provider’s network or the new WiFi network will automatically assign your device a new IP address.
Alternatively, you can use a VPN or a proxy to change your IP address. Or you can manually change it on a network by setting it to static.
