The Top 10 Things I’m Loving – a {new} little monthly recap highlighting my favorite things during the month!
Oh man. This feels like a first date to me. I’m all nervous to share this post with you today! I’m usually all about food here on YHE, but I’ve been thinking a lot about switching things up and doing a once a month post about the things I’ve been loving for the past month. I’m pretty wordy in my recipe posts, but sometimes I forget to share the things that I’m really into. So, here goes nothing…
My 13 year old son bought me this spiralizer for my Birthday at the end of January. With his very own money. Isn’t that the sweetest thing? I’ve only made a couple of the recipes in the book that he bought me to go with it but I have a few on my dinner menu to make this coming week. Do you have any good spiralized recipes you like? Would you like to see spiralized recipes on YHE?
A few good ones I can’t wait to try are:
- Sweet Potato Noodles with Sage Brown Butter Sauce by Joyful Healthy Eats
- Zucchini Noodle Broccoli Cheese Casserole by Food Faith Fitness
- Crispy Baked Curly Fries by The Healthy Maven
As I write this post, it’s a gloomy day in Southern California. While we have pretty temperate weather most of the time, we do have some cloudy, rainy, or foggy days too. The temperature doesn’t get into the single digits like others, but it’s pretty cold for us here!
I’ve been craving soup a lot lately. It’s so easy to make and is great the next day for lunch. I’m loving this roundup made by Kristin of Yellow Bliss Road of 35 Comforting Soups! (Did you see the Easy Cauliflower Soup I shared this week?)
I’m a nerdy bookworm. I admit it. I would choose to read a book over just about anything. Are you a bookworm too?
This series has been passed around my family. My oldest sister bought them and then gave them to my other sister, who mailed them to me. When I’m done with them, I’ve been instructed to mail them to my mom. 🙂 I am in LOVE with The Selection Series by Kiera Cass! I just started the third book, The One. Yes, they’re a young adult fiction series and yes, I’m a grown woman BUT there’s a love story! And all girls like a love story, am I right?! So if you are craving a new book series, and you like romantic, easy reads – this one is for you.
If you’re a blogger, chances are you know very well what a roundup is. If you’re not a blogger, a roundup is just a posting in a blog of a bunch of other links from other blogs and websites that are all about a similar thing. (I think I just made it sound much more confusing than it is!) Like my roundup of 95+ Recipes that Use Up Leftover Buttermilk. 95 links all using buttermilk. Because whenever you buy buttermilk, chances are you have half a carton left, right?
I’m also excited because I just signed on with Parade to do roundups for them on their Community Table website! Pretty exciting stuff. So stayed tuned for more fun roundups…
For my Birthday at the end of January, my husband took me on an unforgettable shopping spree in Nordstrom. Equipped with a personal shopper and a few grand $$, I bought some seriously cute clothes! Putting it mildly, it was heaven.
I stopped shopping after I had my two youngest boys, who are only 11 months apart. It was just too hard to get out of the house with two little ones. My husband knew I was in desperate need of new clothes and that’s why he induldged me. Anyway, one of my favorite buys are these Paul Green Booties. OMG! They are sooooo comfortable. They have a heel but not too high of one. I have worn these for hours at a time and they always feel great on! So, yeah. I had to add them to my top 10 favorites of February, obviously.
I am clueless when it comes to decorating. I’m horrible. We moved into our new house about 6 months ago and I’m just now starting to feel like it’s coming together. But it’s taken me getting out of my comfort zone a bit. This month, I’ve been collecting things for a gallery wall that I’m going to do over my family room couch.
So lots of research has been done on gallery walls. Lots of time on my sister-in-law’s amazing site, Classy Clutter. I love her Gold Gallery Wall! Plus they have some printables here you can print off and put in frames to complete your gallery look. Totally what I need. If you haven’t checked out Classy Clutter – hurry over. Mallory and Savannah are so talented!
#4. Birthday Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes
My youngest little dude is celebrating his 4th Birthday next week! Where does the time go?! He has requested Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes to celebrate.
Now, I’m not a good cupcake decorator, but I did run to the craft store and got a new tip just for making the frosting on these darling Chocolate Dipped Cupcake cones from i am baker on Better Homes and Gardens website! Aren’t they the cutest cones you’ve ever seen?
I bought my first pair of AG Jeans when I was on my little shopping spree mentioned above and I love them. so. much. These are my very favorite jeans now! Paired with the darling booties above and a cute t-shirt, it’s my go-to. Now, if I can figure out how to get as skinny as the model above… 😉
Are you a Bachelor fan? I have to admit, I’ve never gotten too into the show before this season. I don’t know why! Many of my friends would gather at the park to let our kids play and then sit and chat about the show and I was never in those conversations. Until now. I can’t wait for Monday nights!
I might have cried when Chris didn’t give Kaitlyn a rose this last week. I loved her! I totally thought she would get the ring in the end. She’s gorgeous and has such a funny personality…I see Bachelorette in her future. Do you agree or disagree? Who do you think Chris will end up with?
And finally, muffins. Just because.
Is your mouth watering over these ridiculously delicious-looking Raspberry and Lemon-Glazed Muffins from The Food Charlatan? I see these on our weekend breakfast menu (yay!). Have a great weekend, see you in March! 😉

Those booties!!! So cute Jen. I love them! That is so fun that you had a personal shopper for your trip. I would need one, because like you, I’m terrible at decorating, only mine is so bad that it even extends to my wardrobe. I’m so clueless. Not in the Cher way. 🙂 Thanks for the shout out on my muffins! Hello spring!

You deserve it Jen and I’m so happy for you.

OMG, the spiralizer. I got one a while back and I cannot. Stop. Using. It.
And you don’t have to sell me on shoes. I will always need more shoes. My students mock me because I have way too many pairs of boots. But boots are awesome. And booties are the best!
Krista @ Joyful Healthy Eats says
Ok, I want to go on a shopping spree like that! Too fun!
Love all your top picks for this month girl, and thanks for linking to me. 🙂

Love seeing your favorites and getting to know you even more!! I’m pinning that book series, so that I can read that once I find my reading groove again. And I LOVE The Bachelor!!! I watch every. single. season. I think both his final two are great girls!!

This was such a fun post, Jen! I’m very excited for you that you went shopping and splurged on yourself. P.S. You do NOT need to be as skinny as that model!! Thanks for giving us a peek into your life. Now, can you come do a gallery wall for me next? xo

I love the wall gallery idea! I have such a hard time knowing what to do with my walls. This is such great inspiration!
