Job Summary: SUNY Brockport is currently accepting applications for a Registered Nurse (RN). University Police Officers work under the general supervision of a University Police Officer 2 (Lieutenant). Individuals must be able to work alone and exercise independent judgment in performing duties. Officers have substantial contact with the public and other law enforcement personnel. They patrol an assigned area on foot, bicycle or, in a car or by other means to deter criminal activity by means of presence and witness and to detect fires and other dangerous situations. Incumbents respond to calls for assistance from fellow officers or from any member of the campus community to insure that persons and property are adequately protected and may respond to situations involving but not restricted to: burglaries, robberies, thefts, criminal trespass, assaults, criminal mischief, medical emergencies, accidents, vehicle and traffic violations, fires and unusual situations. The successful candidate will: * Report to the scene of the crime, accident or other disturbance in order to halt crimes in progress, arrest violators, maintain order and arrange for the appropriate care of injured person(s). * May apply resuscitators, administer first aid and summon ambulance(s). * Conduct initial investigations of incidents; gathers evidence; interviews witnesses, complainants and suspects and confers with fellow officers; reports results of investigations to supervisor as directed and may testify in court. * Regulate and direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic at intersections, crosswalks and other critical points; stops persons violating the vehicle and traffic law; issues warnings, tickets and summonses; patrols parking lots and campus roadways; tickets cars parked in violation of campus rules. * Control the movement and activity of crowds at concerts, sports events and other gatherings; breaks up fights and other altercations, may operate screening device to inspect individuals. * Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession * Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies. University Police Officers provide police services to the Fredonia campus community and are classified as essential staff. They meet and verbally communicate with a wide variety of persons including: students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and visitors, sometimes in stressful situations. They strive to establish and maintain positive relationships with members of the campus community. They may question victims and complainants to obtain information on crimes and disorders. During violent demonstrations, fires or other emergency situations, University Police Officers may be required to give clear, definitive and authoritative orders and instructions to any and all persons involved. University Police Officers have frequent verbal communications with dispatch and patrol officers for the primary purpose of providing factual information affecting campus law enforcement, security and safety. These communications are clear, comprehensive and concise; Officers may use standard police codes. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS In order to qualify for the civil service exam to become a University Police Officer, candidates must possess either: 60 college credits, or two years of active military service with an honorable discharge may be substituted for 30 of the 60 hours of college credit. This educational requirement is a higher standard than many municipal or county law enforcement agencies. Many officers in University Police possess Bachelor's and/or Master's degrees. Following the written test, candidates who scored high enough to be reachable must pass a standardized physical test that involves pushups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile run. Following the physical agility testing, candidates advancing must clear psychological and medical screening. In addition, substantial background testing/checking takes place, including fingerprinting. The GIDDN develops and deploys educational content to nursing students and residents, professionals, and leaders in healthcare, through a variety of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities, both directly and via distribution partners. In addition to support from the Golisano Foundation, the Golisano Institute is the recipient of multiple grants. The current and largest grant is a 5-year research study with Rush University funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH ), entitled *Ending Diagnostic Overshadowing: Addressing Ableism in the Health Care Context.* The Institute is a sub-awardee for this grant which seeks to identify mechanisms of diagnostic overshadowing and to develop educational programs for the health care workforce to end diagnostic overshadowing and improve health outcomes for people with disabilities. Along with this prestigious grant, the Golisano Institute has several additional ongoing grants that focus on improving health equity for people with developmental disabilities. The Golisano Institute is seeking an experienced Program Manager (PM) to oversee multiple grant-funded projects, with 50% of effort consigned to the NIH grant and the remaining 50% of effort consigned to other grant-funded projects. Position Title Biology/Anatomy & Physiology Instructor General Description SUNY Niagara is searching for a Biology/Anatomy and Physiology Instructor contained in our Business and STEM division. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching in lecture and laboratory settings, and advising students. These classes are held at SUNY Niagara's main campus located in Sanborn, NY. This position will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses, which could include Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Human Biology, General Biology I and II, and Microbiology. All courses are taught in-person. Assignments are typically during the day, but often include evening hours. The initial appointment into this position is temporary for the Spring 2025 semester. However, this temporary position has the possibility of becoming a permanent, 10 month, tenure track position for the 2025-2026 academic year. The start date will be early January for the beginning of the Spring 2025 semester. The successful candidate will be provided with Spring Break for one week in mid-March, and will work until the Spring semester ends in Mid-May. The annual salary for this position is $47,785.
