I was not a patient here but visited a friend. Parking nearby was easy and the hospital looked very clean.

I ended up in St. Anthony's during Hurricane Helene. Of course, the emergency was slammed, but I received very good care there and then was admitted for four days. I not only received A+ care from everyone but the doctors and nurses educated me to help me understand why I get so dehydrated and why my sodium drops so low. I had surgery in St Anthony's last year and will also have hip surgery here in March, 2025. I know I am in good hands at St Anthony's and highly recommend them.

I had a lengthy mammogram done yesterday at the McGillicuddy Breast Center. Not only was the staff amazing the doctor's reports was already in my in-box by the time I got home. Kudos for such caring treatment!

This is a long review at the end I give you tips on finding a good hospital.
On Nov. 1, 2024 around 1:30 pm, on entering the 1200 Jackson Entrance of St. Anthony's hospital, A Covenant Security Guard took my property illegally, refused to give it back. Without so much as a hello, she took my keychain. Disassembled it and gave my pepper spray to another guard. They then asked my name. I gave it. I realized that they were taking my property without my consent. I asked for it back and she would not give it to me because "they had done the paperwork," so I could not have it. I took my property back without her "permission" and returned it to my car. When I came back, she refused me admission. Saying if you had just done what I said you would be in and out really quick.
I protested her misconduct, so she called for more security. At least four guards showed up to reinforce the folly of the first two. This group of security never asked me what happened. They surrounded me and began to harass me based on what the first first guard said. I need to digress to make my point by way of comparison as to how badly I was treated at St. Anthony's. Once, I was lost in Mexico and entered the drug capital, Sinaloa. Suddenly my car was surrounded by six Sinaloa Cartel members, all big latino men, with AK-47s. I got out. The infamous, dangerous, Cartel members didn't stick their machine guns in my face, or point them at me. They didn't aggressively surround me, they didn't say they were going to throw me down on the ground and handcuff me. They didn't say they were going to put me in jail and I couldn't get out.. They didn't threaten to arrest me. They didn't say to shut up. All those threats, well that would be St. Anthony's "security guards." Not the cartel.
I'm 4ft. 11 inches and 90 lbs white female somehow the Cartel members could tell I was not a threat. The huge latino, men didn't surround me aggressively, yelling at me like the all black huge security guards. One cartel member came over and stood next to me and he was the smallest guy. He was courteous. He was respectful. The cartel has a code of ethics with women, something that St. Antony's security does not have. The Cartel asked questions. St. Anthony's security asked no questions, and said they were not going to listen to me. They told me to shut up. They would put me under arrest. When I asked them on what grounds were they arresting me? They responded they would knock me down and put me in handcuffs, saying "I was going to spend the night in jail and I wouldn't get out." Yet, they could not cite probable cause or any law broken.
The Cartel completed their investigation; Step back into the dense forest and disappeared. I was allowed to pass and deliver the supplies. Let that sink in. I was treated with respect and courtesy by the most notorious, dangerous drug gang, then the security guards at St. Anthony's Hospital.
Earlier that day, the nursing staff called for me to come in so I could sit with a relative. I have done this before.St. Anthony's is always short staffed because of this kind of treatment. The point is that when hospital floors are short staffed it leads to poor patient healthcare outcomes, which means you and your loved ones are SOL. Read the multiple one star review stories about how bad it is at St. Anthony's. Then google the wrongful death lawsuits against St. Anthony's. I was trying to help out, but was not allowed in because of misconduct by security guards I called out. My family member said they were so short staffed that she sat there for hours before she could get a drink of water. To be released she had to pee, but she couldn't get water because no one was there to help her. If she couldn't pee, she couldn't be released.St. Anthony's guards' only concern was that someone called them out for 4th and 1st amendment rights violations. All the guards that participated only cared about one thing: Go against us and we'll shut you up and lock you up. It's about our power and our gangs. We will beat you silly was the message. We will pound you into the ground, handcuff you, and put you in jail. The guard said you won't get out. "You're going to jail." That's St. Anthony's despicable state of affairs. This is how they treat RNs who want to help. St. Anthony's was a good hospital, but Mr. Smith the CEO has run it into the ground with his DEI hires, which he touts on the home page of their website.
If you need to go to a hospital make sure they hire based on MERIT. That's a hospital that is looking out for staff , patients and cares about quality healthcare. The DEI woke St. Anthony's hospital that Mr. Smith, CEO, runs is only concerned with political correctness, which has nothing even tangentially to do with healthcare. Therefore, these problems are rampant at St. Anthony's. There are good hospitals out there, but NOT THIS ONE.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I can't express how I am so happy with the treatment i received at this hospital. Dianne, Brittany and Shonday and all the other staff were such a big help! Making sure I was comfortable before and after my weight loss surgery. They really helped ease my mind, as it was my first time having surgery. I couldn't have expected anything more they did a fantastic job. Their bedside manners were impeccable. These women deserve all the recognition for this establishment, as it takes kind, loving, patience and caring individuals to handle this type of job! They did just that I hope upper management see's this and acknowledge's them I am so grateful to have had such a pleasant experience!

You're better off going to a vet that you are going to the hospital they don't have enough staff. They treat you terrible overcharge you do you know good and send you a big bill like I said I would rather go to a veterinarian hospital. Do everything you can to avoid this place, you won't be sorry you did

I have just spent the worst five days of my life at St Anthony's HospitalI. It took them a whole 24 hours for them to determine what was wrong then they say that they have no specialists so I have to go to Tampa General downtown but there's no room for me so I've been sitting in the ICU room having my blood pressure checked constantly being woken up every two seconds for absolutely nothing to be done. No procedures nobody wanna talk to me nobody will tell me when I'm gonna have a room available will be transferred the absolute worst experience I've ever had in my life
Update: I had to physically check myself out of Saint Anthony's Hospital by signing a form saying I was leaving without my doctors approval. I got a ride to Tampa General Hospital and within three hours I was in a room and six hours later I was having a procedure performed. My opinion of Saint Anthony's Hospital has not changed!
Update 2: My insurance company has denied payment for my stay at St Anthony's Hospital because I Quote: "Sunshine Health has not received the medical records explaining why you were being admitted despite requesting them. Multiple attempts to obtain this information have been unsuccessful."Helpful 6Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

The Er is ok got me in a room fast but getting test done was awful been here 4 hours and still waiting for my diagnosis. Nurses are great and kind but for a big hospital not very up to date. I don't think I'll come back here to the ER.
