Going purely off my first experience, I must say I didn't experience anything negative. I was a little skeptical when my coworker mentioned this place and after reading through some of these reviews, I became more unsure. However, I said screw it and we carried on with our lunch plans.
It is right on sunset and has a very small parking lot. I would say probably barely 10 spots, but I got lucky and found a spot in the back. Parking is also available on the street. There is only outdoor seating which are lunch tables and you place your order at a window. I was able to pay with a card and there was minimum amount that you must spend. I purchased the 6 oz shrimp ceviche and one fish taco. My coworker bought the 6 oz fish ceviche and one shrimp taco. Both ceviches came with three tostadas.
I thought it was flavorful and fresh. The batter on the fish was crunchy and came with a side of salsa that added more flavor. I didn't even need to use all the salsa as the squeeze of a lime was good enough for me. The shrimp ceviche had plenty of shrimp and tomato and onion. Tapatio and ketchup are also available at the tables. I am planning on returning and trying the shrimp cocktail!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2019
This is my goto place for a ceviche fix. The fish tacos are fantastic as well, but you can't go wrong with the bowl of the mixed ceviche here. Fresh fish daily prepared to perfection. There's only outdoor sitting with plenty of private parking (rare for that neighborhood). The outdoor seating is covered and it's facing the sunset blvd. They also accept credit cards which is great.

I really liked my fish taco. Perfect crunch with cabbage and crema. They do them how I like em. I got the combo with shrimp cocktail which was good with a massive amount of shrimp. Tried the chicken taco too, which was pretty good. Washed it down with a Mexican Coke. Perfect easy dinner. Nice people working, enjoyed it all around. See you soon.

Now this place is a stand that you order at the window, wait for the order to be called. The clientele is local and the tables is like an out door picnic space with a roof and lunch table seating.
Great food at a reasonable price, we ordered fresh fish & shrimp ceviche, tried the shrimp & octopus tacos. They do have taco tuesdays and if we were here longer we would have totally went back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 29, 2012Updated review
At another establishment yesterday, I discovered that there is such a thing as a bland fish taco. My naiveté was exposed and my world quickly shifted out of balance.
I had to make amends with the fish taco gods so, today, I headed La Playita Siete Mares because I can count on their menu. After three fish tacos, I have faith in humanity once again.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Feb 21, 2011Previous reviewI love this place. I've never had a bad choice from their menu: today was a fish burrito after a long weekend at Joshua Tree. Of course, the Silver Lake people-watching here is always entertaining: lots of True Grit hipster beards on display these days.

I haven't had enough ceviche and fish tacos in other places to compare but this place was very good. Fish tacos $2.25 for taco Tuesday was flaky and fresh.( prices went up) The ceviche was fresh as well but expected it to be bigger for the price. I'm so used to Tabasco sauce my lips were shocked by tapatio. I'm still sweating as I write this review. Next time I'll try the shrimp cocktail

Mondays: shrimp taco specials
Tuesdays: fish taco specials
I walked in on a Monday night after a long day at work and had $10 to my name that night (La Playita does accept credit cards with a minimum of $10). My $10 went for 3 tacos, a Horchata and some tip money left over.
First off...the fish tacos regularly are about $2.50. After ordering 2 fish tacos and a taco al pastor I was shocked when all 3 tacos came out. The fish tacos were huge and filled with big fried chunks of fish. A bit bland though. Yes...the employee did give me a set of plastic ware since they knew a lot of that stuff fell off the tortillas since it was overly huge.
The taco al pastor was pretty good but smaller than the fish taco.
Good stuff. A lot of hipsters around this place in Silverlake. There's street parking and a few parking stalls behind. Watch out for the bums walking around later in the evening....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 21, 2016
Ah, Silver Lake. Your restaurants never fail to underwhelm me. (Exceptions being Pine&Crane and Aroma. I'm not talking to you guys.)
I paid $10 for 3 tacos and a jamaica on Taco Tuesday and was still pretty hungry afterwards. But not for more tacos. For something else. Something with flavor.
I got the special of the day, which was fish and mashed potatos in a fried shell, a regular fish taco, and a shrimp taco. The special taco took me about 3 bites to eat and was fine if you're easily impressive by fried potatoes. The fish and shrimp had zero spice coating on them, but I had to choose to eat one again it'd be the shrimp, which has more natural flavor. The sauce that comes with it reminds me of the red pepper sauce at dim sum places. Then there was a cup of white sauce which was basically crema.
I will say in their defense that the seafood they use tastes very fresh.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
