Lake City Shrimper

I'm back with another review, and this time I'm in Lake City, South Carolina. Now, there's a Shrimper in my part of SC, but the quality hasn't been consistent over the last several years. We heard that the Shrimper in Lake City was on a whole different level, so my family and I had to check it out when we were in the area.

First off, when we pulled up, the parking lot was packed--no surprise since it was a Saturday. A good number of people were leaving as we walked in, so our wait time wasn't too bad. We decided to place a to go order and after about 15 minutes in line (seems like everyone else had the same idea), we were ready to order.

The decor was pretty similar to the Shrimper we're used to--paneled walls, simple decor, same menu aesthetics. The cashiers were efficient, fast, and friendly considering the number of orders they were juggling.

We ordered several items, including (2) flounder and shrimp plate, a large shrimp dinner, a shrimp and chicken dinner, and extra hushpuppies. The sides on the platters included rice and gravy, fries, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. Overall, the food was good. One thing I particularly loved was that the shrimp were CLEAN! I can't stand gritty shrimp (you know, when they haven't been deveined properly). Thankfully, that wasn't the case here.

The rest of my family enjoyed their food too. While we may not drive a great distance just to go again, if we're in the area, this place will definitely be on our list. If you're around, I recommend you add this spot for some good fried seafood to your list.

Ok the service was good. The ambiance was good. This time my wife's flounder wasn't that good at all. We both got the shrimp and flounder with fries. I ate all my flounder which was good and a few shrimp. She ate mostly shrimp and fries with only a few bites of flounder. Took the rest home and heated it up next day. She couldn't eat more because she found the guts of the fish still inside of it. All purple and black looking with white fish along it's edge. Kinda put her off eating it and the shrimp. Was her first time there, drove up from Summerton after i bragged on how good my first time was there. Not to sure on when if ever be back. Just wish we hadn't caught the bad cooked fish while there. Now that I see could have put a picture of it here wish had took that to.

The Lake City Shrimper is always good. If you're looking for a good meal reasonably priced, this is the place. If you insist on ambiance, move on. It's nothing fancy, but the taste of their menu items rarely disappoint. I give it 5 stars for consistency and deliciousness.

Yummy food and open on Sunday which is usually are travel day riding through. There is always a wait even in the drive thru though.

No frills restaurant with an expansive list of options, large servings, and affordable prices. Employees are friendly and patient with first time guests. Ordering is done at the register, and a server delivers the food to the table. It seems to be a very popular sport with locals.

Momma always said if you can't say something nice then keep your mouth shut. They are friendly folks. The folks who came in while I was there seemed like regulars. There you go, something nice.

This restaurant has been a staple in Lake City, SC. for years. The food is always delicious. Whenever I'm in the State I eat here at least once. Service is quick and on point. The inside is nothing special but you feel like home.

Friendly staff but not a place for the health conscious. I ordered scallops from the entree menu and received a basket of fried scallops. I was expecting broiled scallops. My fault for assuming. There was nothing else I could find that looked like it wasn't a high LDL cholesterol catastrophe for my bloodstream. If you want fast, mostly fried, seafood without a fuss, this is your place. Did I mentioned the people are nice? That gets points.

When you aren't able to get out! And have to call an order in they don't answer there phone! Guess they don't want to serve the elderly that can't get out or the people who have to do call ins and get people to go get it for them!! Answer your phones! We have money to pay for the food!
