About the Business
Established in 1849. Luckenbach was established in 1849. One of the first settlers in the area was Jacob Luckenbach (1817-1911). A group of German nobility, the Adelsverein, hoped for great riches by establishing a colony in the New World. In 1845 Jacob signed up and sailed with his family on the Johann Dethardt to Indianola in December. Jacob's family was one of the first settlers to arrive in Fredericksburg. He was allocated a town lot and a 10-acre lot southwest of town, where he first settled his family. In 1852, he sold both properties and moved 12 miles southeast of the site that was later known as Luckenbach. He was instrumental in the creation of Gillespie County and served as county commissioner and school super-visor. Even though he opposed secession, he served in Captain Englebert Rrauskopf's Home Guard during the Civil War. His youngest brother, August, joined a group of Union sympathizers and died at the hands of Confederate forces in 1862. Although Jacob Luckenbach and his family were early s

So this is being written from our visit Thanksgiving of 2023. Not sure why i didn't write this sooner but here it is.
I've lived in Texas my whole life, and can sing Luchenbach Texas by memory - but no one wants to hear that. I've never been. I know, a sin. But I got there.
My wife and I were in Fredricksburg for Thanksgiving '23. The day after, we drove out to Luchenbach. I love it. Hung at at the bar and drank some cold Lone Star longnecks. Did a little shopping. Sadly no live music that day and we couldn't stay later. There's a lot to do. And look forward to our next trip back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Suzanne P.Uptown, San Antonio, TX756459Apr 11, 2025

We absolutely loved this stop on our journey around Texas. I read online that they have music at 1pm in the afternoon in addition to the evening. We really enjoyed the music and the overall setting. The staff in the general store were fantastic. Very informative about the town and the owner. We had lunch and found the food to be excellent. We were really surprised at how good the food was and how incredibly nice the servers were. Definitely worth stopping and enjoying!!

His one request was that we go and check out Luckenbach, TX. So glad we did! Had a blast, a few beers and good laughs. And bought me a new hat!

Cool looking little town. It was close the day that we showed up because of snow in the morning. However, very quiet and quaint. Well, what we're here looks like. They run bands. They have a chicken coop and a whole bunch of kitkats hanging around pretty cool place.

How could I not write a review for the place I got married ?!! The first time I came to Luckenbach over 8 years ago my very first thought was that it would make the perfect wedding venue- and I was right!
The photos we got getting married under the beautiful oak tree outside are remarkable.
Kat really helped make sure the local wine we wanted at the wedding got ordered.
My only complaint would be that the bar that's supposed to be connected to the dance hall still wasn't finished. I don't even think it's finished now.
Everything else about having Luckenbach as a wedding venue was awesome. Amazing photo ops, great private dance hall and an affordable venue!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Robert M.Irving, TX0237425Jul 30, 2024
Call up Waylon Jennings on Spotify as you cruise on into Luckenbach.
Third visit here... each time during the Pickers Circle. Last two were Jimmy Lee Jones, this time Peter Tory. Was glad to hear from the bartender that Jimmy Lee still shows up from time to time.
Is it a tourist trap? Yea. Kinda. But only one that a special type of tourist would appreciate. They've not yet gotten as commercialized as say The Salt Lick in Driftwood (remember when a visit there was legendary?) and hopefully they never will.
If you're entertaining visitors from out of Texas there are a few spots they need to go to including the Fort Worth Stockyards and Luckenbach. It's a fun experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 6, 2024
I've been to Fredericksburg many times over the years but this was my first stop in Luckenbach. It's a cute little place with live music, rustic charm and a great little gift shop. It's a great little piece of Texas charm to visit when you are driving through.

Such a famous place and I have always wanted to at least go once! Cute little post office store and bar and a nice tribute to Hondo. Seems like a cool place to be when the weather is nice and a band is playing. Lots of space to spread out.

This little community is worth a stop if you're anywhere close just to say you've been there. Some big acts play here on occasion but one can stop here anytime for a distraction.
I came here on a Wednesday afternoon. Abundant parking. Walked through two cute little shops (including all the "all I got was a lousy T-Shirt" options) and a rustic but apparently well-appointed bar (no outside beverages allowed). Also: big clean bathrooms.
The best part was at 1:30 in the afternoon, I enjoyed LIVE music--a guitar-violin duo. The violinist was 75 if he was a day, and he was great! Plenty of casual picnic table seating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
