Q:
Did the portion get smaller here, or is it just me?
A:
It's not just you, I noticed that as well. They had a new location open downtown San Jose... I don't know if it's still open or not but I'm sure that's helping offset the cost by downsizing the portions

I miss their strombolis! I haven't found another like it in all my travels across the US. Not even in NY or Chicago! Delicious flavors I always order three so there's some left the next day. I cannot wait for the reopening and wish them the best as they navigate the rebuild. I do like their pizza and pastas as well, but the Stromboli is something you'll crave. Sausage, cheese, mustard- yummy crust and perfect sauce poured over the top (not inside cuz to me that would make it a calzone). Hope to see you guys real soon!

The best - hands down. This establishment is owned, and excellent every time. Support local businesses.

Why didn't I find this place sooner! I gave up on finding a good pizza in Nor Cal years ago as being from the East Coast can't find anything that can stack up to the best. Between the teenagers and myself we didn't leave a crumb. The crust, the sauce, the texture makes this my only pizza place going forward.
One word of CAUTION, they put mustard in the Stromboli . That didn't fare well with any of us. It's such a shame you can't customize your order as the sections without mustard were indescribably perfect.
Plenty of tables seating 4-6 comfortably insideHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2024Updated review

May 15, 2018Previous reviewThe Stromboli is absolutely delicious- the balance of crispy pizza crust with cheesy goodness, mustard and old fashioned ham all dunked into a wonderful marinara!
Why only four stars? It hurts after - I just can't handle the heaviness of all that cheese. A younger me would give it five stars :-p.Apr 15, 2018Previous reviewThe Stromboli is absolutely delicious- the balance of crispy pizza crust with cheesy goodness, mustard and old fashioned ham all dunked into a wonderful marinara! We've ordered take out from here several times. And we've never had any complaints. The food is beyond amazing! Always well seasoned, tastes fresh, and delicious! We've ordered the spaghetti and meatballs which was a super hit. The pizza has never disappointed.

Not permanently closed. Hope to see them re opened soon. Great, quirky, family pizzeria serving Stromboli the way it was meant to be...with mustard...Sicilian style.

Haven't come here in a while. The workers here are nice and friendly. The first thing you do when you come in is order your food and pay then go seat down at a table or take out.
The food here are delicious. Their Stromboli is very good and flavorful with a lot of red sauce on top. I love how they make their spaghetti. The spaghetti is perfect with their large meet balls. The meat balls cost extra though. The spaghetti plate is big and I took it home. They even give free garlic bread.
The restaurant is kind of small with limited seating. Located of this restaurant is not the safest at night.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Pumpkin P.Rosemead, CAMar 2, 2024
Came here with my nephew after a show, did not really know what to order, but they were nice. It is family own business. We ordered rigatoni and pizza (pineapple, mushroom and chicken). I know, pineapple on pizza, but my nephew likes it.
The pizza was good. The cheese pull was awesome! The dough and everything was perfect except towards the center it was kind too thin that everything falls apart. Not soggy taste though.
The bread that came with rigatoni was good. The bread was crunchy outside and soft inside. It does not kill your teeth.
Got parking and a lot of tables inside to enjoy the food while it fresh out the oven.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 26, 2022Updated review
If you live in the South Bay, and never been to Tony Di Maggio's Pizza, you are missing out! Tony's has been around for over 45 years, and as one of the staff members mentioned, their Nonna is still there making the Stromboli by hand!
If there's one thing you come for it's the Stromboli, which comes in small and large sizes. A small is plenty for a regular appetite and large is great for sharing. I got a regular and it was under $11, which is a steal in todays world.
I was in the area and on Yelp searching for something eat. I picked a place, got on Monterey Rd and realized Tony's was down the block, so I detoured and went to go get a Stromboli.
The dough was crunchy, the cheese was oozing out, and it tasted like it was made with a lot of love. Stromboli is often imitated but this one is never duplicated. I've had Stromboli in other places, and this is the one I keep coming back to. #1 on my power rankings!
They were doing some construction so I couldn't eat there. If you do come, eating there is the way to go. Because they'll serve the Stromboli topped with the marinara sauce and the way it's supposed to be eaten. Getting it to go, it's still good, but if you can EAT IT THEREHelpful 16Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0Jun 10, 2019Previous reviewWhenever I make a trip to the Santa Clara Fairgrounds, Tony Di Maggio's is always a good choice if you are looking to get your carb fix. Whenever I come here, I go with the classic and staple of the establishment, THE STROMBOLI.
What is a stromboli? Well at Tony's you are going to get: ham, sausage, salami, mustard, american and mozzarella cheese wrapped in pizza dough then baked. They top it with butter, oregano, pepper, and their homemade tomato sauce. What is great is that the medley of flavors blend so well together. The mustard adds a great tang, that helps even out the tomato sauce and gives it a well-rounded flavor profile.
Made fresh to order, I always choose to eat it at the restaurant because it is really hard to beat when it is fresh out of the oven.
The stromboli comes is two sizes, regular ($8.5) or large ($17). I can eat A LOT, so I always go for the Large. They say it's good for 2ppl but if you are really hungry, a large will leave you full to brim.
Ordering: If you are going to eat there, you'll place your food and drink order at the register, find an open table, and pay when you finish. They'll bring the food to you. The stromboli does take about 10-20 minutes to make, but it's well worth the try and wait!
