Nicole’s 3-star review: SUSHI MASA weekday lunch. About $12 for an all you can eat sushi buffet is a really great deal if you can eat 3 or more regular rolls in a sitting. Note that on the menu they can charge you for the uneaten pieces left on your plate. I usually start with two rolls because I know that I can devour that without a problem. After the first two I order one appetizer/roll/dish at a time this way I am not struggling to eat every piece at the end to avoid extra charges. I've been here twice for lunch. I think this would be a better deal if you didn't have to think about rushing back to work and could enjoy a full hour of eating. When you come in you are seated in the dining room to the left, there is a big flat screen TV mounted there. You order your items from the menu and they are brought to your table. Since everything is made to order it is all fresh :-) I was a little disappointed on my second visit here because I was standing at the counter for a long time waiting to be spoken to or seated. I know that the hostess was handling another customer but I was not greeted, asked if I was dining in, picking up, or doing takeout. I really just wanted to seat myself so that I could peruse the menu especially since it was a late lunch and I was very hungry. I was eventually acknowledged and told that they would be with me momentarily. Seating: There are large round tables for larger parties, 6-8 I believe. There is also a little nook with a wall booth seat that spans two square tables (each with 2 chairs on the other side. I was seated next to the left wall of the nook. I later realized that this was preventing me from seeing the television so next time I will ask to sit somewhere else. There was an exciting talk-show episode on and I felt like I was missing out. Overall, based on both of my experiences, I consider the lunch special to be a great value, the food to be enjoyable, and I would recommend this be added to your list of lunch spots. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: Great smoothies. Huge variety of flavors. I like that they refresh the Smoothi menu occasionally. Only once have I ever seen them give free samples of their new smoothies and it was the one that had beets in it. I'm glad they gave a free sample because I did not like it at all. They had a sandwich years ago that I just loved. But it someplace they stop carrying it. I tried many of the other sandwiches and wraps but nothing ever really replaced it. So I come here for smoothies but not so much for the food because I have not found many of the sandwiches, wraps, salads I tried impressive. This location gets very very busy at lunch because of the customers coming from surrounding businesses some of which are in the shopping center. If you come at lunchtime expect to wait in a long line. Also expect to be pleased with your smoothie. This location has an outdoor eating area two tables and a few chairs. -
Nicole’s 5-star review: Joyful Eyecare has two locations-Hilltop (next to Pearle Vision) and Pembroke Mall. The staff here are a so amazing. I really like them. They are friendly, efficient, accommodating and are really here to serve you. Daniel C. Ferrara, O.D. is the best. He's got a fantastic personality and is very knowledgeable in his field. He answers all of my questions and goes over everything in great detail. If you have any concerns, feel free to voice them, they wont make you feel stupid. I always leave feeling good about my visit and I can't imagine going to another office. The best thing about this location is that it is adjacent to Pearle Vision. Get your prescription and head next door to order your glasses. Because they have such a great relationship the two offices communicate well. Once there was an glitch ordering my prescription at Pearle Vision and Laura called Joyful Eyecare and then walked over to talk to the doc. I highly recommend Dr. Ferrara and his team. -
Nicole’s 5-star review: Membership is totally worth the price. It took me a few years to realize that and buy-into the whole membership/paying up front for future discounts thing. I'm telling you it is worth it for the store discounts and the gas discounts. I have a gas price app on my phone and sometimes the gas at Sam's Club is as high as 10-11 cents lower. When the price difference is that high I won't go anywhere else. The difference is usually smaller, and when it is like me, you may just pick the station closest to where you are. The attendant here is really nice (the main guy, the older one that is usually here). One day recently I witnessed him going around greeting everyone and engaging in conversation with the regulars. He came over to me and we chatted for a bit he mentioned that he hadn't seen me for a while. I think it's cool that he is attentive and remembers regulars. I like that all cars must enter from the same direction and exit the same way. Sometimes it is a bit frustrating but it is efficient and safer. Downside: you can't wash your windows here...is this how they can afford lower cost? -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Shoes shoes shoes and more she's even purses and accessories. All the little accessories you need for that perfect evening out or to look super classy at your job. Fantastically priced namebrand shoes. The regularly priced items are great but check out the clearance aisles for deals that will blow your mind. Treat your feet right don't buy cheap shoes that will have you tiptoeing in pain at the end of the night. Spend the same amount of money others spend on low quality shoes and sneakers, but get the top brands and your wallet will thank you and so will your feet! Signed up for the rewards program. Earn points for each dollar you spent. You also get postcards in the mail and emails notifying you of special sales. Even get a reward for your birthday and then use it to treat yourself to a new pair of shoes, sneakers or boots. This location in particular is quite large. It also has a great location near many other stores. So come to the shopping center to get your outfit at one of the other stores and then come in to accessorize with your footwear, purses and belts, maybe even a cool hat. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: This location is near a metro station, in fact on the same block. There are several restaurants on this strip, both sides of the street; Lebanese, Mediterranean, Afghan, Italian. I considered all of the options and still went with Chipotle. Mostly because I know how much I enjoy it and it was a safe choice because I was about to embark on a 5 hour train ride. The line was long and a bit slow, obviously very popular despite being surrounded by independently owned ethnic restaurants. Veggie Bowl to-go! President Obama has eaten here. They have the pic displayed. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: Brand spanking new. Corner spot of course, located at Great Neck and First Colonial roads. So being that the grand opening just happened this week all is new, clean, organized and fully stocked. If you live near this location you hopefully got in the mail a sheet of 5 coupons I believe--4 completely free items and one for $5 off a $15 purchase. Good news is that you can use all coupons on one visit. I was rushing my first visit and only used the free coupons. Please note you do still owe tax! Also you can substitute the free coke for another coke drink like Seagrams Ginger Ale etc! When I was searching for $15 worth of stuff to buy the pharmacist asked if I needed any help. I didn't. She later asked a guy the same and helped him. I like that she was seeking to be helpful rather than waiting to be asked for help. While checking my coupons a lady asked about a specific product and the pharmacist was able to give detailed feedback because she uses the product herself. There was one really helpful, very knowledgeable guy at the register (blonde) that assisted me, he's clearly held this position for s while. The other guy was very friendly but seems to be new. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Great station. Could use more seating though. Wide open. Great views all around. Located in the business district. Runs on-time. Near a sub-shop, Five guys burgers and fries and Au Bon Pain. Great for business travelers and out-of-towners. Why? Marriott is on the same block as this stop. Same side of the street in the middle of the block. It is the business district so don't expect a ton of "life/action" around here, but maybe that isn't what you're looking for. Union station is about three stops away and only a few minutes travel. There was an attendant here that was very helpful in advising whether to purchase unlimited pass for the day or to purchase reusable card that gave you a discount on rides. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: My dealings were with the staff in the copy/print department. Very helpful and very knowledgeable. Skilled. I called about getting business cards made because I had seen an advertised special. My questions were easily answered over the phone. The lady recognized me as the person who had called when I arrived at the store later. She showed me several paper types/finishes and even did sample prints on a few so that I could make an educated choice. She explained that they would be ready in two days because only two people on premiss were trained to/allowed to cut the business cards and she was off the following day. I didn't mind considering the Office Max used punch out card sheets, which I was not aware of when I placed the order). So I knew that the cards would be of good quality. My cards were of good quality. Nice clean cuts. Gloss paper finish in bright white (a little extra). And the card photos/graphic were crisp and vibrant. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: Harbor Freight Tools Inc Home Improvement one stop shop. Everything you want or need is here. Flashlight. Worklights. screwdrivers. Drills. Tarps. Batteries. Toolkits. There are very few of these around, three in the area I believe. One is in Norfolk and one is in Newport News. I learned about this store from a friend and decided to sign up for coupons. They send you high value coupons, such huge discounts! I even got some coupon for completely free items. No purchase necessary. Which is a great way to get you in the store to possibly gel lost among the rows, and rows of items leaving with much more than you came in for. I perused about 80% of the aisles and the prices seem decent, lower than a lot of other places. I'll happily come here again. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: I've been here once. The place is super tiny. It is really for drive up service. Inside there is room for 3-4 people to stand in line in front of the counter and there is room for a display case. The cashier lady was very nice and helpful when it came to assisting me in making my beverage choice. Birthday coupon for a free medium beverage. Sign up now! DD perks. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Office Max Hilltop I've been here a lot. Mostly to purchase ink. Why oh why is printer ink so darn expensive!?!? I buy it and then I try to use it as little as possible. Ink buying tips: Purchase the brand name for your printer. Why? Store and discount brands only have to fill the recycled cartridges they use about 80% to sell it. I've decided that isn't much of a discount. Buy XL! The cartridge cost almost twice as much, but you get more that twice as many pages. (they pump a lot more ink into the sponge in the cartridge. I personally only get XL black because that is what works with my finances. Buy the inks packaged CMY or CMYK for a discount! Calculate it yourself. There is a savings there I have found the staff at this location to be very helpful. When I purchased an office chair a while back they saved me from assembly. I was able to get the floor model which had been very recently assembled and they took it out to the car for me. They have been happy to answer all of my questions regarding ink, products and services. When I wanted to order business cards I felt that I received very personal service. All of my questions were answered in great detail and I came back later that week to order cards. I have a MaxPerks account and I get a $2 credit for every ink cartridge I recycle here. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: I enjoy supporting small family owned local businesses and I hope that more people discover Bubba's. I appreciated hearing from the husband and wife team Sara & Mike. They've been married for less that three years and they decided to go on this awesome adventure together starting their own business. There were so many doubters and naysayers and they still pressed on. Six months after opening they are going strong despite not putting out any advertising...word of mouth is keeping them afloat. They make everything on premises, If you drive around back you can see them smoking meat, they also make their own ketchup etc. Even the Chef is a family friend with several years in the head chef position at other establishments. He was even guest chef on "The Hampton Roads Show" 4 times. They like to keep the staff small. And the owners look forward to seeing your face time and time again. I enjoyed the potato salad, penne and cheese, some spicy fried chicken. and brisket on a pretzel roll. Bubba's BBQ Bistro is eager for the chance to fulfill all of your Catering needs. Who has had the corn fritter dessert? Is is really a taste of heaven? -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Very nice. This is a family owned business with a beautiful story explained in the bottom corner of the menu. The first restaurant was started in the 70s, in a neighboring city. Now the adult children are helping keep this family legacy alive. My friend ordered a meal with beef and lamb and rice and enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere is beautiful. Cozy without being at all shabby. If anything the decor is high-class chic with plush booth seating and modern elements. They put a great deal of attention into every detail. Very high ceilings. A row of several small/quaint individual bathrooms. Mouthwash provided. Also a row of sinks outside of the restrooms with mouthwash on the sides, great for when customers or staff just need the use of the sink. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: Sunday afternoon. Didn't see that busy for what I would have expected to be the lunch rush period. Perhaps because some people cook on Sundays. There is a very long bench along the front window where you wait to be seated. I'm glad they have plenty of seating here because far to often at other establishments there is not adequate seating for guests and large parties waiting to be seated. I was greeted as soon as I entered and I sat alone on that long, long bench as I waited for my brother to find parking. There is parking along the street facing the storefront, metered during the week, free on Sundays-I was fortunate enough to find a spot here. There is not any parking on the side streets, but there are three garages as you make your way around the block. So there is adequate parking. We were seated quickly and offered beverages. They did not have the raspberry iced tea that my brother inquired about but he did enjoy their regular lemonade. They offer about 3 lemonade flavors and three iced tea flavors. A "captain" came around to check on us. The captain's responsibility is to keep the customer happy and answer any questions we may have. Sara informed us of the new "lab flavors" and that they were out of two of the sauces but that they may be in tomorrow. Of course bro was about to get on the road for a six hour drive home so that was not helpful in our case. My wing lovin brother was curious about two of the flavors and inquired if there was a way to taste them. The Captain came over with a serving of fries and six squirt bottles. She squirted out samples of two flavors: sea salt caramel and Jamaican jerk. Oh how we dipped our fries and "sampled." My brother got 5 of each flavor (traditional wings). Excellent customer service. They asked us so many times if everything was satisfactory and refreshed the lemonade a few times. Wings: They were very much enjoyed but my brother did not like what he described as "pretzel salt" atop the wings. He said it was unnecessary. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: I arrived just before 11 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Surprisingly there was a group of people already waiting on the curb and in the fire-lane (eager shoppers). There weren't very many people there but by the time I left there were at least 50 customers. I was able to navigate the aisles easily and everything was open and clean. My recommendations for the ladies is to always check out the handbags, shoes, and active wear for great deals. Hidden gem I saw a very expensive tea length designer wedding dress for around 200 dollars. The luggage is priced pretty decently with a variety of brands, colors, and styles available. I LOVE the kitchen section and must do my best to exhibit self control among those aisles. My cashier thanked my by name for shopping with them. I like that personal touch. FYI: I believe they open at 9:30 everyday except Sunday. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: Five Guys Burgers and Fries 687 Lynnhaven Pkwy Virginia Beach, VA 23452 The prices must have gone up because I have no recollection of paying over $4 for one hot dog. I've eaten here a few times or more...I've only ever ordered the kosher dog and the fries so that's all I can comment on. Fancy, schmancy soda machine that is now popular in fast food restaurants. You can customize your beverage experience which is great. But unless I'm dining in I am not paying over $2 for a fountain drink, especially if I just want a regular soda. I know they must meet the cost of operating this machine but it won't be coming from my pocket. The kosher Dogs are amazing! I know it is just a dog, but I like it. I 100% prefer a fry cut straight from the potato than some compressed, machine formed fry. So yes these fries are worth it. I didn't care for the Cajun fry so I'm sticking to the regular fry. I also appreciate that they give you PLENTY of fries!! Service is good, and friendly. Although at other locations I've experienced the kitchen staff singing, greeting me as I entered, maybe even a dance step or two. But not here. Service is fairly speedy although it seems like a really long time. Enjoy some peanuts while you wait to help pass the time. I don't but I should. The wait would go faster. Facilities are clean and tidy. Condiments are a plenty. There is adequate seating.

Nicole’s 3-star review: Weekday around 2pm Walked in confused because I missed the PLEASE SEAT YOURSELF sign. After walking to the back without being greeted, I walked back up to the front and saw the sign. No booth or table seats were available now. Sat at the bar. Dislike. Seat to bar height ratio was very uncomfortable to me, either bar too high or seats too low. But seating may be perfect for a 6ft dude or dudette :-). Surveyed the restaurant once again and found a seat at a high table. Yippie! I have also been handed a menu. Yippie again. Menu difficult to read due to the glare from the overhead lighting on the type of protective sheet covering. My seafood quesadilla was great. Delicious. Yummy shrimp. Came with sour cream. Serving size was satisfying. I can see myself ordering the seafood quesadilla to-go In the future. Servers were nice, but super busy. -
Nicole’s 3-star review: As of this summer they are now open for lunch beginning at 11 a.m. They have a lunch menu; mostly the same items but there is a lunch special section added. $6.99 endless soup & salad combo if you like French Onion or Clam Chowder soups. There are 5 options under the $7.99 section and you can get those for takeout if you want. I like that they come with a cup of soup, house salad or a side (a side alone is usually $2.99) which makes the deal seem worthwhile if you're on a budget. I got the sweet potato side, because I LOVE sweet potatoes and can't get enough of the in every form imaginable. But $3 for a potato is a bit steep, which is why I was glad to get it as part of the lunch special. I found the potato very disappointing. Wrapped fully in foil it was more steamed than baked WHICH CHANGES THE TASTE. The skin was wet and soggy not crispy! You don't steam your loaded baked potatoes do you? I hope not. Longhorn Steakhouse sweet potatoes are well worth the cost. The coconut shrimp were decent in size and tasted satisfactory, but unfortunately were not crispy which is how I am accustomed to having them. I was concerned about six shrimp not filling me up but I was pleased to get lunch for $8 +tax. Actually as I take a few more mouthfuls I must confirm that this particular sweet potato is horrible, I do hope that your experience with this side is much much better. I'm saddened. I can't even explain my disappointment! Service for takeout on the other hand was up-to-par. I was helped by a very nice young lady (perhaps a teen). She directed me over to the Take-out nook. It was my first time having lunch so I took a seat in the adjacent large, comfortable seating area complete with menus, coloring books and crayons to keep waiters occupied. She explained that my TABLEMATES card was no longer usable as they had ended that program. A manager came over and exchanges my old card (and account info/points) over to the new DINE REWARDS program. I'm not sure how you rack up points exactly...I think you need to spend more than $25 a visit. But the fact that this program includes 5 different chains of restaurants seems promising. Less cards to carry around, more earning opportunities, and you can use it when you travel to areas where the two restaurants I haven't heard of are located. And if you don't have your card they can look up your account by your phone number. Yippie! I spent quite a bit on my first trip to Bonefish Grill a few weeks ago and they told me NOTHING of this program. Surely I would have earned a reward that could have been used today :-( -
Nicole’s 4-star review: WICKER'S CRAB POT SEAFOOD visited twice for lunch. I was at work famished and looking for somewhere new to have lunch, preferably not a chain. I looked up the menu online, printed it out and highlighted six or seven items I wanted to try so I knew I'd be making more than one trip. FIRST VISIT: I walked up and saw a lady sitting outside on a bench at an order window. I asked her a few questions about the food and then placed an order once the guy was ready for me. I saw the enclosed-patio seating and the area was completely dark and all of the chairs were upside down on the table. So I was thinking they were closed or only open for takeout orders...it just wasn't clear to me at all having never been here. It was blazing hot outside 90s and there isn't anywhere to wait in the shade. I eventually saw [people walking around the other side of the building and I followed them up a ramp into the chilled indoor restaurant. I sat there for a while in the coolness perusing the full menu and chatted with an older lady about how much she loves having lunch dates there with her friend because she is a seafood lover. Thinking my food order was ready I went back to the window, it wasn't. I waited 20 minutes for my lunch and they did apologize for the long wait. The Crab Balls were deep fried puffs of deliciousness YUMMM. At $8 I had hoped for more than six hushpuppy size balls but I do understand that seafood isn't cheap. The southwest egg rolls were also good, crispy with a good kick. Second visit I wised up and called in my order of seafood macaroni and cheese and sweet baby rays wings. I was unimpressed with the wings. For future visits I will stick to the seafood, I trust I will enjoy those dishes. I'm looking forward to my next visit. You can call ahead and pick your order outside. You can eat in. They also have patio dining. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: This place is GINORMOUS!!! I have yet to use the facility but believe me just taking a tour of this place is overwhelming. Before taking the tour I had to sign a release form and I had to hand over my license at the front desk. There's a large floor area with elliptical machines and stairclimbers and treadmills with a row of large-screen televisions. There are so many different areas with free weights and every type of machine you could imagine to work out every single part of your body. There is a room specifically for stretching. You can take the lessons in the pool. There's also a huge basketball court. I think it is really cool that they even have a room with frosted glass windows that is only for women so that you can feel comfortable in there and if you have any insecurities or if you simply just want to be focused or don't want to be bothered or distracted. Another amazing feature is that they actually have a movie theater yet you can be on the treadmill or the elliptical and watch a movie on a huge screen in a darkened room. Yoga and Pilates activities take place in a dedicated around with a beautiful new wood floor. This multilevel facility is simply amazing. Everywhere I look there was something new to see. I mean really you think you just going to work out you just need maybe five machines well surprise surprise you could use 30 different machines, 40 different machines here and not repeat that is how extensive the inventory is here. The ladies locker room and bathroom facility is very it's clean it's polish and it looks like a really great place. It definitely was not nasty, grungy or dirty not even the smell of sweat. And believe me the ladies coming here are serious about their workouts! They offer a wide variety of classes here different times of the day and different days of the week just check out the schedule. FYI word on the street is that a lot of doctors work out here! -
Nicole’s 4-star review: I've been here many, many times. Long before I started charting my whereabouts on yelp. These days I always place the same order: Crab Fried rice and sticky rice with mango. The dessert is delectable, sweet, satisfying, and it plain ole makes me happy every time I eat it. The crab fried rice never disappoints although the onions are cut so large, I wish they were a bit smaller. I really do love the crab fried rice it never disappoints and I'm always happy to have it. And I always want it. The rice to crab ratio is usually more than acceptable.The staff are always pleasant. My food is always ready promptly when I call my order in and go to pick it up. In fact once I overestimated how long the order would take to fill and Bangkok Garden called me to make sure I was on my way to pick up my crab fried rice. -
Nicole’s 2-star review: What can I really say. Don't eat here often. I always order the same thing. Burrito Supreme, no beef. I've been eating it since I was a teen. Today I was hungry with no clue what to eat. This is a good fall back. tried and true. I know what I'm getting and how I'll fee about it and the price is just right. My male co-workers would eat here all the time for lunch because it is so cheap and they can get plenty to fill their cavernous bellies without breaking their wallets. I rarely get sodas and I certainly will not pay $1.69 for one unless I'm feeling desperate. So today when I had a very late lunch break after 2 p.m. I was relieved to see that this was the beginning of their "happy hour" and medium drinks were $1. What the heck...gimme a Dr. Pepper!

Nicole’s 4-star review: Sports on every channel...right now mostly the World Cup. Flat screens at your table. I see one table with a toddler...Madagascar is playing. I've gotten take-out lunch here a few times and dined in once. The food was delicious-particularly the crab dip appetizer with soft pretzels. For $13 this appetizer hits the spot. The dip is hot, gooey, flavorful, cheesy and they don't skimp on the crab meat. And it is well complimented by the slightly salty soft pretzel sticks. I've also had the blackened chicken quesadilla, just under $10. I don't recommend it, but I'm sure that it does have its fans. It just did not appeal to me at all. For starters I've been getting chicken quesadillas for 20 years. Before I branched out to exploring other entrees the quesadilla was my fallback at most restaurants because I could count on enjoying it. For the price, this was small and I did mention my disappointment/surprise to the server. Also, I was not feeling the taste. I do recommend trying the pear and apple salad with vidalia dressing. It is soo yummy and refreshing. I'm not sure how I would feel about paying $10 for a salad without meat. $3 to add chicken and $5 for shrimp. But I'm all about eating healthy and the salad is fantastic as is. I personally have no plans to ever order it with a protein. I have had some difficulty with takeout before, once I believe the individual was a new employee. It was a very long wait, with more than a few mix-ups but the manager handled the order in the end and applied my points to my rewards card and I left satisfied with my order. I like The Greene Turtle and I will be back. After years of passing it by on my mall trips I'm glad that I finally desided to ear here this summer. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Hey what's new? Just about everything! I haven't been here since last year and I was very surprised when I walked in. The whole lobby was redone. Nice and comfortable leather(ish) chairs. Wide open space.Cool swirly modern carpet. Better lighting. A few video games around the perimeter as usual. a lighted bar in the lobby. The theater itself seems pretty much the same. But perhaps a bit improved. The bathrooms have been refaced. Nice smooth slate gray floors and walls. Neon Back-lit mirrors. The toilet in stall two looked pretty rough and tore up. They should definitely replace the seat. FYI the movie begins at the start time listed. One minute late and you will for sure miss the beginning of the movie. -
Nicole’s 5-star review: Instructor Perida (2 classes) Master Cielo (1 class) Seriously intense. Great exercise. Strength building. Focus. Learn self defense moves. Camaraderie with fellow classmates. Respect is always shown for instructor, self and peers. The children's class was before my class each day and I really see what a great impact this can have in a young child's or teen's life (respect, strength, discipline, self-confidence, character, follow-through). Instructor Perida was very patient with me. On my part, I tried everything that I was instructed to do, never having the "I can't" attitude. I really had the most wonderful time here. I'm not particularly athletic and hadn't been engaging in any workout-type activities in the weeks prior to taking the class so I definitely did not feel physically ready for this challenge. The first class I took was on a Thursday which turned out to be an intermediate class (oops). We were dripping sweat onto the mat half-way through every class. What I really appreciated is that during certain portions of the class when they were doing advanced moves Instructor Perida would instruct myself and the other newbie to repeat one of the earlier moves, or do the simpler kick rather than the combination kicks. The class consist of the warm-up to get your blood flowing and get your muscles and joints loosened up, the workout/instruction period, and the cool-down. After these classes I felt stronger, more confident and capable in my abilities like I could take on other challenges. And I am grateful to have learned a few great self-defense maneuvers. A few weeks after my last lesson I had the privilege of seeing the students and instructors of King Tiger Martial Arts do a skills demonstration synchronized to music at a festival. It was a wondrous spectacle. It was such showmanship. A splash of punches and lunges and kicks and flips and faux fighting with sticks. I was in such awe of their precision, their movements in unison they were so in sync. Power and determination behind each deliberate motion it was indeed a great performance. Nicole’s 4-star review: I cannot tell you how long it has been since since I've searched for anything in a library!!! I put items on hold using the library website and then pick them up at the library closest to me. This day I needed to go inside to return something and decided to see if they had any items on a new interest in-house. I was directed to the catalog computer to do my search and wrote down the numbers I needed. I had no problem finding the print materials at all. The audio materials I could not find at all. I searched several rows and was not able to find the audio recording with the number or alphabetically. I had to ask for help! The lady who helped me went to find it right away and brought the CD to the counter explaining that they had recently moved all of their audio items. She then directed me where to check out my items but the line was long so she graciously called me over to another station and checked me out herself. The checkout system uses Radio-frequency identification (RFID) to recognize the books, the key is to spread the books like a fan. the RFID stickers cannot be read by the computer when they are overlapping. They have new, cool electronic return slots outside. Return one item at a time. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Great experience here shopping for maid-of-honor dresses and bridesmaid dresses my friends wedding. We were in Suffolk and having no luck at all. We called David's bridal in Norfolk but I don't think they were able to fit us in for an appointment so we made an appointment at this location. We were greeted as soon as we entered and received such excellent customer service. Our attendant had great patience with us during the process and made great suggestions. We were able to pick out the maid-of-honor dresses for myself and my co- maid-of-honor as well as the bridesmaids dresses. We even looked at shawls/capes, veils, tiaras and shoes. It was a great experience to have all of that handled so easily in just one visit. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Ambiance/Decor: When you walk in the place looks like one of the swanky hip clubs you might find on the beaches of Miami. Brightly colored walls, marbled walls with illuminated vertical slates slowly pulsating a variety of bright colors. I could imagine the wide open space between the bar and the booths along the walls filled with salsa dancers. Shining down on this open floor space is an elaborate yet simple lighting fixture. A giant flower bloom; the petals push forward then press back against the ceiling joining in the center around a bejeweled chandelier, illuminated with a violet back-light The curved bar mimics the shape of an undulating snake. The spirits house behind the bar are uniquely displayed on translucent shelves with indigo back-lighting. And the half-moon booths facing the bar are super cool. Now the back room is very different from the front. Dark wood everywhere . Tiny lights in the dark slate ceiling make you feel as though you're in a distant village looking up at the night sky counting the stars. The sushi chef station is in the middle (of the upper part of the room) and can be seen from all angles. There is an awesome high gloss red lacquered bridge that crosses what will be a pond (once filled). The bathrooms are modern, clean, monochromatic except for the few pops of bright red again. So this place is a mix of the traditional old world style and the super modern depending on where you are standing. This is cool with me since the two styles aren't clashing in the same room, but are separated by walls. Event: Cool. Fun. Energetic. It's nice to go out and feel like you're in a classy establishment that caters to the young (at heart) yet is mature and elegant. Service was great. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I had to keep stretching my neck and popping up out of my seat to see if anything new was put out because the Yelpers were hungry after a long day at work and the food and plates were devoured just moments after they were placed on the sushi bar. Management: Tim the owner came over and talked to us for a good while. He's such a personable guy...ambitious and talented and very hands on in the expansion of the business. When I arrived he was up on a cherry-picker putting up the new Sushi King sign. And at the table he was telling us about traveling around for the grand openings, the fact that he has a mechanical engineering background and put in a lot of the air conditioning network. My guest was telling me about her favorite sushi place in Newport news and guess what...It's Sushi King. I myself have been to the Centerville location a few time for lunch. -
Nicole’s 4-star review: Needed something to eat while I was waiting for the mall to open. I've seen this many times when I walked a few doors down for a hotdog. I heard so many great things about this place and their options. I went in through the back and this place is much larger than I expected. It is so open and clean and very nicely designed. They have one of those soda/drink machines that are digital. I'm not sure how much drinks cost since I got water but there is usually an up-charge at places with this cool machine. They even had a display with the three small bite desserts that they offer. You can see the dessert actual size and seeing the real deal I'm sure has made more than a few people drool and tipped them from maybe to heck yeah! I love the unique way the menu is displayed with photos and descriptions, sometimes you really need that when trying new things. And then you don't have to ask quite so many questions. I told the cashier that this was my first visit and she welcomed and thanked me for coming in which I appreciated. I kept it simple with mac n cheese since I was in a rush but I'll mix it up next visit. It is cool that on to-go orders they put your food preparer/packers name on the bag, this way if you get home and there is a problem with your order you can let them know who bagged your meal.
