The Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN) has issued a new strike warning targeting Finland’s technology industry, with planned walkouts on Friday 28 March, and Friday 4 April, the group has announced.

The strikes continue a series of Friday work stoppages that began in late February. The upcoming action will affect 55 companies and 25,000 senior salaried employees.

According to the National Conciliator's Office, negotiations on Thursday failed to produce an agreement, and mediation will resume next Tuesday. As a result, YTN's planned strike for this Friday will go ahead.

In addition to the strikes, an ongoing ban on flexibility remains in effect, preventing senior employees from accumulating flex time or travelling for work during their free time. However, YTN has not implemented an overtime ban.

YTN is a private sector body representing Akava trade unions, with responsibility for negotiating on behalf of professional and managerial staff.

Edit note: Article updated on 14.3.2025 at 14:45 to clarify that YTN is a federation of unions.
