So I guess we're only getting the one wave of Scooby Doo sets? That seems pretty unusual for an IP that isn't based on a movie (e.g., Prince of Persia, Lone Ranger, Speed Racer, etc.).
What's distinct about that Scooby figure?
^ Exactly. It says it's exclusive, but I don't see a difference from any one of the set versions. Maybe the mouth printing?
It's clearly just a placeholder figure guys c'mon, don't play dumb.
I think it is a limited edition packaging with the Scooby-Doo minifigure. The Scooby-Doo in the photo looks like the one from set Mummy Museum Mystery.
Its not an exclusive minifigure. Its exclusive DVD packaging that includes a lego minifigure.
Definitely looks in keeping with typical Scooby-Doo films, I hope this becomes a yearly event similar to the DC Movies, it'd make for some excellent opportunities to make exclusive monster/costumed criminal Minifigures should they not choose to continue making physical sets.
I too have to wonder if they only went after the IP so they could include it in Dimensions, since we haven't seen/heard of anything new for the Theme at this years toyfair. There isn't much more they could make that's iconic, but one or two character filled sets with more monsters/costume crooks would be much appreciated. I hope as a bonus they include the already aired special Fright Knight, or whatever it was called.
Yes that scooby doo is exactly the same as the summer wave ones?
I loved the prior video with the spooky knight, so this is a must-buy.
@TheBrickPal: The difference in the minifigure is in the face printing. His mouth appears to be open at the corners in a sort of a worried expression, but a different one than has appeared in any of the other sets.
Anyway, I'm surprised they're still doing LEGO Scooby-Doo features after the theme has basically wrapped up.
I'm surprised they aren't releasing at least 2-3 new sets based on the movie.
Omg that looks hilarious.. ...............
@The Green Brick Giant - That's what caught my attention. It would seem odd to create, release and promote a movie when it won't be too long before the sets are clearanced out. It seems like either the movie should've come out closer to September when the sets were released, or perhaps they could've released a couple new ones to keep the theme fresh on the shelves.
Ok so im assuming we could be getting another wave sets since i dont think Lego would discontinue the Scooby doo theme if were getting a movie now.
Happy to see there's more Scooby-Doo coming, even if it is just a movie. That being said, Lego has been releasing some seriously good movies lately, no joke.
I do hope we get new Scooby-Doo sets at some point, since there's so much room for expansion (and more monsters, especially Captain Cutler). No doubt it would be a seasonal fall wave release. I am surprised we did not get a sole Scooby game (or that it did not get more attention in Dimensions) considering its practically made for Lego's puzzle/collect game style.
Yeah, a "Limited Edition Exclusive" Scooby. :p
That polybag is called 30601 Scooby-Doo
I guess this makes sense considering the fact that LEGO has handled the Scooby Doo license well in the LEGO Dimensions games from what I have played. They seem to know what they are doing.
Perhaps the video was delayed from summer/fall 2015 to Spring 2016.
Looks great! So glad they did something like this with Scooby! Will definitely increase interest in the sets again.
I loved the Scooby Doo theme and I'll definitely be picking this up; I wonder if TLG would ever follow suit of those Tank Engine folks, wherein they release a direct-to-video movie and a spate of playsets based on scenes from that movie? I can verify it is an effective technique at getting their target audience to clamor for yet another version of the same (darn) characters over and over and over.
Didn't DK's last Lego Harry Potter book come out right around or after the toy line wrapped up?
awesome!!
Desparately hope this means new Scooby-Doo sets. The summer wave was one of my favourite lines of LEGO sets in a very long time.
