Talk:Charge Beam (move)
Variation?
Isn't this a special variation of Metal Claw? If so, shouldn't it be noted on the bottom? I'd do it if I knew how to. Matt of Mossdeep 06:47, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Effect
- It may also raise the user's Sp. Atk stat.
- Charge Beam damages the target and has a 70% chance of lowering the target's Special Attack.
Which one it is? I assume it it the 1st one, never saw the 2nd (I don't use it often though). Tenno Seremel 02:20, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- It raises it, per every other Pokemon site out there. I have corrected it. — THE TROM — 03:03, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Why List Egg Groups of All Pokemon who can learn a move?
Does anyone know why Bulbapedia now lists the egg groups of Pokemon that can learn different moves, including TM's? I don't see how or why adding the egg groups of these Pokemon is in anyway relevant, and I'm confused by this, especially because I don't think Bulbapedia used to have this before Sun and Moon released. --Rithvikkiran (talk) 16:05, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- It lets people search the entire page to figure out who can be a breeding parent for whatever it is they want. Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:08, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- Which is completely stupid, way worse than the previous system. First, if the move in question isn't an egg move, the information about the egg groups is completely useless. Second, and more important, the previous system was better because it showed the available parents right next to the Pokemon that could have it as an egg move, while the current system is worse because you must scroll the entire page to find a possible parent. - In the current system, all you have to do is CTRL+F. In the old system, parent info was subject to enormous potential for the humans compiling the data to make mistakes, not to mention that vandalism would be very easy to accidentally overlook. This is more securely accurate, and therefore much better. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 20:18, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- If you mean that if a move (like Absorb perhaps) cannot be learned as an Egg Move it's not needed, that's probably arguable. I'm not into breeding enough to think of an example, but consider also that we can hardly have an inconsistent format on different pages.
- And the old system was not better; as Pumpkinking says, it was difficult to maintain/verify, and it took up an incredible amount of space. At any rate, if you like that style, you can still look at Pokemon pages. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:27, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Raboot using Charge Beam
So, the image cards for Gen VIII show Raboot using Simple Beam. But Raboot cannot learn the move legally (as per the information on this page), and its movepool doesn't seem to contain any moves like Metronome or Copycat that could allow it to use the move. So, unless I am totally wrong about it, or am missing something, I believe that Charge Beam was hacked onto Raboot, and we should remove it and use a more authentic user of Charge Beam.
