Screenshots from a 1968 Russian film; unlikely claim of Creative Commons license. --Muzilon (talk) 00:23, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am only trying to use two photos, I uploaded multiple versions of the same images trying to get the best resolution. This is my first time creating a draft, and I’m new to a lot of these copyright rules, so I could be wrong about them. I saw that a screenshot of a movie isn’t fair use, but I don’t understand how other articles about movies have them uploaded correctly. I’d like to know how I can make it the right way, I just think those two photos make understanding the article better. Welcome back bro (talk) 01:09, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please see COM:Licensing - Commons does not allow images to be uploaded under "Fair Use"; it only accepts screenshots that are so old that the copyright has expired, or alternatively if the filmmaker has explicitly granted a Commons-friendly license. Certain copyrighted screenshots may be uploaded to Wikipedia (but not Commons) under WP:FAIRUSE, but there are special conditions for that which you'd need to familiarize yourself with. •  Delete, fair-use is not allowed on Commons. Welcome back bro seems to understand the correct way forward – uploading as fair use to enwiki – but it still needs to be deleted at Commons. HouseBlaster (talk) 01:07, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per nomination. --DMacks (talk) 15:37, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
