The sponsor was Esther Ross, the 17-year-old daughter of a pharmacist from Prescott, Arizona and chosen by Arizona's governor, and there were three "maids of honor". Two bottles were used, one of the traditional wine, and a second with water taken from the newly-opened Roosevelt Dam, which was a nod to Arizona being a dry state at the time.[1][2]

U.S. Navy design specifications for two of their award flags (one of which, the environmental protection flag, is now obsolete as the Navy has a newer design).
-
The U.S. Navy Energy Conservation Award flag, which is awarded to eight Navy and Marine Corps units each year for outstanding energy conservation and energy management accomplishments during the preceding fiscal year. Winners can fly the flag for one year after the award announcement. The award was originally created in the wake of the oil shortages in the 1970s.

U.S. Navy design specifications for their Energy Conservation award flag.
-
An older design for the U.S. Navy Environmental Protection Award flag, which is awarded for various environmental achievements. The award is apparently detailed in SECNAVINST 5090.5F, part of the Navy's Environmental Programs Manual. The central design was replaced in the mid-1990s with a symbol containing stylized trees, waves, and a bird inside a circle.
