Hello Wikimedia! I am autistic+ADHD intersex queer with a special interest in flags. I draw SVG flags and gender symbols using the drawsvg library of Python, and will accept requests to convert flags from png/jpg to svg.

Some of the code I use to create flags is now available on github:

Sometimes when I post flags/infogarphics to this website I'll put up a little appendix about methodology.

  • User:Intervex/PrideColours: Infographics about what LGBTQIA+ pride flags mean with the data tables & info on methods.
  • User:Intervex/DisabledIntersex: I ran a survey on how disability & intersex flags should be combined for different ways that intersex and disability intersect. Data tables & info on matching flags to meanings.

To Do

[edit]
  • Follow up on the deletion/TOO/sourcing/etc requests I have made about Indigenous flags affected by US/Canada copyright law. See User:Intervex/Indigenous for my progress going through them.
  • Now that I know about the {{Attrib|}} template, update my own past uploads to use it to link to source files
  • Work through Category:Fake_SVG and fix the pride flags in this category (see next subsection)
  • Sensory friendly versions of intersex flags
  • Perisex trans flag(s)? Wolffian/Mullerian flags?
  • Category:Flag images that should use vector graphics
  • Category:Symbol images that should use vector graphics
  • Add symbols to Astronomy, astrology and gender symbols as I see them
  • Archive more intersex flags - see requests from Tumblr users below
  • Archive more disability flags
  • Get up some more infinity *loops* for making autistic flags with. Also maybe some interlocking hexagons in the style of ASAN?
  • Categorize LGBTQ and Disability flags by colour
  • Go back through my old uploads and tag the ones I made in Python as such vs the ones made in Inkscape

Fake SVGs I wanna replace with real ones

[edit]

Note: check flag is in use before fixing given issue with Czech pride flags.

Flags I've received requests on tumblr to SVG and upload

Tumblr archiving

[edit]

For each of these tumblrs, go through flags of interest, check if the flag is actually in use, and then make SVG version.

Flags I want to upload but uncertain about licensing

[edit]

Bookmarks

[edit]

License tags: {{PD-flag}} {{PD-shape}}

Add to png/jpg/etc when there's a SVG version available: {{Vector version available|New Filename.svg}}

For flag colour combos: {{cat color flags|black|blue|yellow}}

For indicating I made an SVG in Python: |other fields={{Igen|Python|+|u=Intervex|code=See: https://github.com/intervexual/drawpride/blob/main/drawflags/forcommons.py}}

Autistic Pride Flags

[edit]

I have been hyperfixating on-and-off about autistic pride flags. I'm bothered that so many of them use a solid white lemniscate, a symbol of the Métis. And as an intersex person I'm wary about flag designs that use a solid gold background, since that's a theme of intersex flags.

The metis infinity issue feels extra frustrating because there are so many ways to style an infinity symbol. I've hence been on a little quest to explore different ways of making infinity symbols. I've carved out User:Intervex/Infinity as a place for me to save different kinds of infinity symbols.

Inclusive options for autistic/ND flags

[edit]

Autistic pride flags that are visually distinct

[edit]

Flags that won't get mistaken for other groups (Metis, intersex) nor would obvious derivatives of their flags fall into the category.

ND flags that don't use lemniscates

[edit]

Neurodiversity flags that, if they use an infinity symbol, use a loop rather than a solid lemniscate curve. Using only infinity loops for neurodivergence helps to differentiate from the Metis flag.

Alternative symbols for autism
