1965 Pakistani Presidential Election
[edit]Hello! I have noticed your works on mapping Pakistani elections and constituencies, and I find your work to be pretty amazing. I have one request if this is possible, could you possibly a make a map for the election results of the 1965 Pakistani Presidential elections? Thanks. MrGreen1163 (talk) 18:28, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! Just uploaded the map. Let me know if you want some improvements!
- File:1965 Pakistani presidential election map.svg
- PS: couldn’t find East/West breakdowns for the two independent candidates so I didn’t include them in the pie charts. Muzzzmuzzmuzzz (talk) 05:37, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! MrGreen1163 (talk) 04:00, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
Map of the upcoming Pakistani general election
[edit]Hi! Thank you for your contribution to Pakistani election cartography. However, your map of the upcoming general election has some room to improve on.
- 1. The current one looks very distorted. It'd be fabulous if you could switch to a better projection scheme similar to the 2018 map.
- 2. The map has a lot of unused spaces. It makes the actual map tiny especially in infoboxes.
- 3. The map doesn't map onto the current territorial claim of Pakistan (per File:PAK_orthographic.svg). As of now, Pakistan is not involved in any territorial dispute with China. Although I agree not to include its latest claim over parts of Gujarat.
Please ask if you require any help. And it'd be wonderful if you could share with me where we can find the shapefile of the latest delimitation. 沁水湾 (talk) 15:57, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
- Just uploaded a new version that I believe addresses all three of your points.
- As for the shapefile of the delimitation, there is none. The Election Commission of Pakistan only uploaded district-wise PNG maps of the delimitation here. So I had to place them together like a puzzle and then draw the boundaries myself to form the overall map.
- Let me know if you have any more questions! Muzzzmuzzmuzzz (talk) 02:21, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply! May I help with improving the layout? Since I cannot upload a new version of the file due to its override-protection status, I uploaded it here: File:2024 Pakistani general election - Results.svg 沁水湾 (talk) 04:01, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- Wow, that looks a lot better! I’ll add it to the Wikipedia page! Muzzzmuzzmuzzz (talk) 05:13, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hey. I just have suggestions for slight improvements:
- The acronym for the Awami Muslim League is AML, not AWL.
- On Wikipedia, the colour for the PML-Q is usually lime (#00FF00), and not dark green.
- Amazing work on the map!
- P.S. I’ve requested overwrite permissions for the file so I can edit it with the actual results on 8 February. I’ll also remember to expand all of the texts into paths when I’m done. I hope you don’t mind! Muzzzmuzzmuzzz (talk) 05:27, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
