Braedyn Duncan Locke (born December 8, 2003) is an American football quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers. He previously played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Early life and high school

[edit]

Locke was born in Rockwall, Texas,[citation needed] where he attended Rockwall High School. In his high school career he passed for 11,182 yards and a Class 6A Texas state record 127 touchdowns.[1] Locke committed to play college football at the Mississippi State University.[2][3]

College career

[edit]

Mississippi State

[edit]

Locke was redshirted in 2022, after which he entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal.[4][5]

Wisconsin

[edit]

Locke transferred to the University of Wisconsin to continue his college career.[6][7] In week seven of the 2023 season, he entered the game after starting quarterback Tanner Mordecai went down with an injury. Locke completed 15 of 30 passes for 122 yards with one interception, while also losing a fumble, as the Badgers fell to Iowa 15–6.[8] He was announced as the starter for their week eight matchup as well as for the remainder of the season, after Mordecai was ruled out for the rest of the season.[9][10] In Locke's first career start, he completed 21 of his 41 pass attempts for 240 yards and two touchdowns, as he led Wisconsin back from being down 18 points to beat Illinois.[11] For his performance, Locke was named the Big Ten Conference freshman of the week.[12][13]
