Girls Like Girls is an upcoming film directed by Hayley Kiyoko, adapted from her 2023 book, titled after her 2015 song.

On May 30, 2023, Kiyoko released her first novel, Girls Like Girls, "a coming-of-age romance based on her breakthrough hit song and viral video" for her 2015 single "Girls Like Girls". She directed the video with directed with Austin S. Winchell.[1] In May 2022, she discussed a desire to turn the story of the song into a feature length film.[2] The film adaptation is written by Kiyoko and Stefania Scott. It is produced by Focus Features.[3]

Principal photography took place in Kelowna in British Columbia, Canada in July 2024.[4]

Release

Focus Features acquired worldwide rights to the film in December 2024.[5]
