Complete rewrite needed
[edit]This article is virtually completely dependent on primary sources. The closest I see to reliable items are news reports, and remember that news reports are primary sources: they date from the time of the event that is being reported, and they are not based on a review of other documentation. And there are dozens of citations straight to videos. Nyttend (talk) 11:32, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- I just made two pretty big (for me) edits removing a lot of overly detailed info about her parentage, as well as trivia about a tatoo she has. I almost never make these kinds of changes to articles, but my stuck-at-home Covid resolution is to be more WP:BOLD with my editing. That being said, if I screwed something up (removed a good source, etc), please feel free to revert me without challenge on my part.
- I would just like to make mention that in the entire body of the mark-up are all these "Do Not Remove" messages (which I ignored). Is this some sort of legit warning that I am not familiar with, or what is going on with that? Ditch ∝ 23:58, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
- Just a note that the format of news report, whether video or written, does not impact its reliability. Unless it is interviewing the subject, they are not primary sources to the subject. Morbidthoughts (talk) 20:22, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- I think one of the issues is that some (or most?) reporting of pageants isn't truly a "news" report. They're simply repeating model heights and interests and biographical details provided to them by the models or their managers, without fact checking of any kind. In other words, they're functionally press releases, which we still consider to be primary even though they've being published by a third party. Woodroar (talk) 21:12, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Parentage
[edit]Do her parents need to be named in the article? I realized part of her notability involves her ethnicity/background, but I think it might be stretch to be giving the full names of her parents, if not a BLP violation in itself. Ditch ∝ 17:18, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
Tattoos
[edit]Why is the information about her tatoos being re-added to the article? She is not known for her tatoos. It is just trivia. Ditch ∝ 17:18, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
"DO NOT" messages in the edit text
[edit]Why are there a bunch of "DO NOT CHANGE" and "DO NOT EDIT" instructions hidden in the edit box? The messages imply there has been some sort of agreement or consensus about retaining certain information. Can someone please point me toward that discussion? Ditch ∝ 17:34, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- The messages were added by User:Migsmigss in this and this edit. I'm not seeing any discussions or consensus to include those claims. On the contrary, the article stats show a handful of editors edit-warring nearly constantly since its creation. Woodroar (talk) 22:34, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- I took the messages out. BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 20:25, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Reliable sources
[edit]Is anyone able to speak to the reliability of these sources?
- beritasatu.com
- beritasatu.com
- koran-jakarta.com
- cakrawalamedia.co.id
- liputan6.com
- jawapos.com
- tribunnews.com
I'm able to read them with Google translate—which isn't perfect, of course—and they all appear to be celebrity tabloid sites, which we really shouldn't be using for claims about living persons. Thoughts? Woodroar (talk) 22:50, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- It's kind of a catch-22. I think we should be cautious to remove potentially sourced claims simply because we can't read the language. I feel like there must be some sort of help-page to ping experienced editors that can assist with foreign language sources. Ditch ∝ 21:57, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- I messaged an editor listed as someone willing to help with sources written in Indonesian, asking him/her to respond here. Ditch ∝ 22:20, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Great, thank you! If that doesn't get us anywhere, we could always give RSN a shot, too. Woodroar (talk) 22:26, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

6 months autoconfirmed
[edit]This article was flagged for disruptive editing, and the edit history shows a flurry of aggressive drive-by IPs and fresh accounts. So under WP:BLP, I've given it 6 months' autoconfirmed. I made it 6 months because multiple previous shorter protections didn't help. Is everyone OK with this? New accounts and IP editors are still able to discuss proposed changes here in talk, and should - David Gerard (talk) 16:00, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- I think that's the best option, yeah. Woodroar (talk) 16:58, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Agreed. BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 18:52, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm good with that. Ditch ∝ 21:49, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
False Education Displayed
[edit]She went to British School Jakarta (fromerly known as British International School Jakarta), not AIS. I was a student there at the same time she was. Can someone update this please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Babynaruto (talk • contribs) 10:26, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Babynaruto: do you have a reliable source that says so? Woodroar (talk) 12:21, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- I've added a citation needed flag to the alma mater field.BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 18:29, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- If the claim is left unsourced for too long, I'd suggest simply removing it from a BLP article. I'll take a look over the weekend and see if I can find a source. Surely there is some sort of bio associated with her Miss Universe campaign. Ditch ∝ 21:24, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
Education
[edit]Frederika Cull never graduated from University of Oxford with BA Economics and Management. There’s simply no reliable evidence to back this up. 137.220.72.13 (talk) 04:20, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
