Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. You have also not provided a reason for your request, which, as far as I can tell, only consists of a request to change "Political corruption" to "Corruption perception" at the top of the sidebar. —KuyaBriBriTalk 00:00, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I request the addition of mafia state to the corruption sidebar, under "CONCEPTS". Mafia state is an advanced form of kleptocracy which refers directly to aid from organized crime syndicates. --99.157.108.186 (talk) 01:04, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Flag templates

[edit]

I have an idea to discuss for the Political corruption sidebar. Since I am involved in creating corruption related articles, I have used this template a number of times. I am a big fan of it but have one suggestion. Just to add some color to pages, what if we placed an optional image query within the corruption sidebar? The point being that on each individual page (i.e. Corruption in Bosnia, Corruption in Germany, Corruption in Malaysia, etc) the nation's flag could be placed within the sidebar as a thumb. It would be similar to the Corruption Perceptions Index being used on the template at the top of this page. DaltonCastle (talk) 21:34, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually nevermind. Figured it out!

To any passing by desiring to do the same, the template will look like "Politcal corruption sidebar|image= [ [imagefile|thumb] ]" (I replaced {s with "s to avoid syntax errors). DaltonCastle (talk) 21:38, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a way we could add a second image to the template? I tinkered with it for some time, albeit unsuccessfully. My idea here is that the nation's flag could be the top image, and then still within the template box, a second image at the bottom could hold Transparency International's Corruption Index image. Thoughts? DaltonCastle (talk) 19:11, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not just Political Corruption

[edit]

Corruption is rarely isolated to political corruption. There is corruption in Business and non-profit just as much as in public sphere. The title is misleading and biased. --Natkeeran (talk) 14:24, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

International Corruption

[edit]

What are anyone's thoughts on creating a page or pages covering U.N. Corruption, International Corruption, IMF Corruption, or Corruption of any international body to be included in this template? International bodies can be corrupt too and there are plenty of sources that support this very statement. It could be added as a section below the Transcontinental countries section. DaltonCastle (talk) 00:41, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Many countries have population on two continents. Instead of depleting continents from legitimate members and making categorization more a riddle than a science, we assign such countries to the continent where most of their residents live, e.g. Russia in Europe, Turkey in Asia, Egypt in Africa (was already there). This is the WP and general standard. gidonb (talk) 17:05, 1 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Region reworking?

[edit]

Does anyone think perhaps the world regions for this sidebar should be reworked? As in, could Asia be divided into Middle-East, Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia, or any combination of those? It just seems peculiar to me, since the Middle-East is fundamentally a different economy to East Asia. Am I just overthinking this? DaltonCastle (talk) 13:19, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DaltonCastle, please do not dump intercontinental regions (Middle East or Latin America) in a list of continents. This messes up the entire system up and turns WP into a bad joke. IF the number of countries per continent reaches a critical mass, it is ok to include subcontinents as long these aren't combined because of WP:OR and as long as these remain clear subdivisions of the continents. So for Asia: East, Central, West, South, and Southeast would need to be listed. In a sidebar this is more difficult to do right than in a horizontal navigation box. gidonb (talk) 15:02, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Per number of members, if at all splitting, one should split Europe first. The good news is that it splits into only four: East, North, South and West. gidonb (talk) 13:33, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Another option is to split by letter - eg Europe(a-l) and Europe (m-z). Or to make the regions auto-collapsed. And yeah, @DaltonCastle: it seems like you may be overthinking it as you said; there's a million and one ways to define how countries should be grouped, which all have different levels of international consensus, and no matter what system you use there will be another way of doing it that will put two countries as far apart as possible. These divisions are ones that almost everyone recognises and agrees on, so it's (probably) the best option. --06:36, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
agree on auto-collapse, seems a bit long HudecEmil (talk) 11:49, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
