The Ambassador of Sweden to Sri Lanka (known formally as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka) is the official representative of the government of Sweden to the president of Sri Lanka and government of Sri Lanka.
History
[edit]Sweden and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations on 18 November 1949.[1]
In November 1961, an agreement was reached between the Swedish and Sri Lankan governments on the mutual elevation of Sweden's legation to embassy. The diplomatic rank was thereafter changed to ambassador instead of envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary.[2]
