Hey, How have you been ?? Please support my submission at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Copy_Edit_of_the_Month/August_2012 Thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by SajjadF (talk • contribs) 17:29, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Sorry but the Nephrotoma quadrifaria is very common in Cantabria; and less common but present, in the rest of all Cantabrian Sea coast and the nord of Castilla y León all in Iberian peninsula. I have many quality photographs (of many different times) of this tipulidae here.
In consecuence, your date about the distribution of the Nephrotoma quadrifaria, is not exact.
Tanks for your time.

From our past communications, since you're interested in food list articles, I've been working on the List of soups article periodically to improve it. Feel free to contribute if you have the time. This article is in pretty good shape, but could use more specific descriptions of the soups, and likely some expansion to include entries that are not currently in the article. At any rate, if you're interested, please feel free to be bold to help improve the article! Northamerica1000(talk) 06:25, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, my friend. I may, but I sort of bit off more than I can chew with List of Russian dishes, List of Irish dishes, List of African dishes, List of English dishes, and those need the attention more. So, if you have the time, please feel free to expand those. Welcome to Boomerangsville. Population: you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:30, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Brevipalpus phoenicis
On 2 September 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Brevipalpus phoenicis, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the mite Brevipalpus phoenicis (pictured) reproduces primarily by parthenogenesis and almost all individuals are female? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Brevipalpus phoenicis. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

...For the barnstar. I'm disappointed that the image garnered "only" 3000 (or so) hits for the article, but I'm so glad it finally ran! --Orlady (talk) 02:52, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm also very pleased it ran. I was disappointed too, but not surprised. It's 2012, so only such species as "Uttertrypus ladygagis" get any attention these days. But, 3k people saw the thing, and that's good, because it's more than the article will get in the next 100 years. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:53, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Suggesting a Commons deletion?
Hello Anna, this image distribution is extremely poor, more or less useless really, so my feeling is that it should probably be deleted altogether. I am not sure even the photo lab could convert it into something useful. The distribution of this marine species as shown extends at least 100 miles inland! What do you think should be done with it? Invertzoo (talk) 19:41, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Susan. I'll see what I can do. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:10, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- Okay. I think the best plan is to simply upload a newer version. I can grab a slice of this, and probably get one of the wiz kids to do it.
- This is the old version of the red fuzz map. The red line seems not to hug the coast. Could you describe how you would like it to appear? Also, Snek is pretty good with Gimp and may be someone to ask. I'll point out this thread to him. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:35, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello again Anna and thanks for taking my question so seriously! I don't know whether we want to create a proper version of this map from scratch properly right now, as it could be a lot of work. It's not as if we are currently trying to get GA or FA status for this article Semicassis granulata. I came across it during routine clean up.
And if we did make a map, this would be the first marine map we have created, so we would want if possible to set it up in such a way that we could use the same system for future marine distribution maps.
This snail has been recorded live from low tide level to 94 m in depth, so it lives in coastal areas and not in the deep sea. But it does not live on land, as is apparently shown in the red fuzzy map!
If we tried to make a map, it would need to include Bermuda as a sort of out-runner. I would not try to show the individual countries from which the species has been recorded, but it might be good to try to indicate the general areas correctly. Invertzoo (talk) 13:31, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
The species has been recorded in the literature from:
- The East Coast of the USA: in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida in East Florida, West Florida, and the Florida Keys
- The Caribbean Coast of Central America: in Mexico in Quintana Roo, also in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and in Venezuela in the Gulf of Venezuela, Carabobo, Sucre, Isla Margarita and Los Testigos Islands
- The Greater Antilles, in Cuba, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, but has not yet been reported in the literature as occurring in the Lesser Antilles
- The Atlantic coast of South America, in Surinam, in Brazil, and also in Uruguay
All good wishes, Invertzoo (talk) 13:31, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Jus wanted to say once again, this does not at all have to get made. :) Invertzoo (talk) 22:50, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, I was asked for comment so here it is: Maps should be in SVG because such files are easily to modify. For marine species it is very easy to create distribution map, because you will partially hide the blue rectangle behind the grey continent. (For creating SVG distribution maps of terrestrial species it would be useful and necessary (at least for me) to get a blank SVG file with an "ocean layer".) I do not know how to create the distribution map in coastal areas relatively easily. I suppose that it should be possible to make it quite easily; we should ask someone who is very familiar with Inkscape. Moreover I am not sure if there exist any way how to show distribution area to 94 m in depth precisely. --Snek01 (talk) 00:49, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you. This map seems fine to me. I think that it is OK that it is not very precise and that it includes deeper water areas. Thank you Michal. Invertzoo (talk) 13:15, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Anna, I think we should now request deletion of the old map? Invertzoo (talk) 13:31, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Speedy template added. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:21, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- I am so glad we got that all sorted out! Maybe at some point we can make more distribution maps for the Western Atlantic marine species. Invertzoo (talk) 00:20, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm glad too, thanks to Michal. I like the idea of more maps. Maybe it would be a good post at gastropod wikiproject things to do list. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:57, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Good idea. Yes, absolutely, you could go ahead and put it on that list with a link to this map so people had an example to follow. Thanks Anna and thanks Michal. Invertzoo (talk) 12:57, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well, that confused the heck out of me. I tried to add "|distribution maps (create species distribution maps like [[:File:Semicassis_granulata_map.svg|this one]])" to Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods/to do and it wouldn't appear. Also, there is the word "no" after each item, which is sort of like a confusing deterrent. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:26, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

China photo requests
Hi, Anna! Do you go to areas in China other than Hainan? If so, there are other China-related photo requests I have WhisperToMe (talk) 16:53, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

- Yes, there are images there I am looking for? What geographic area are you around right now? WhisperToMe (talk) 23:27, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

- Actually, no. I avoid such huge places. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:08, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Have you been to smaller cities like Xian or Chongqing? I have a few photo requests for those too. If you want, I can look up places in Haikou and see if there are any you would be interested in photographing WhisperToMe (talk) 02:28, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, no. I avoid such huge places. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:08, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't been to Xian or Chongqing. I'm not a lazy bones, really. Most of my life has been spent travelling from one country to another, and I've woken up in thousands of different places over the years. I just think I need to rest for a decade or so. Any Haikou photos you like, however, I would be happy to take and upload. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:11, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sure! Have you photographed city and district halls of Haikou and schools in Haikou? I could see if I can find street addresses, in case you haven't photographed those yet. Another idea is a shot of the old Hainan building shown at File:Hainan Airlines headquarters.jpg but of the whole building, instead of focusing on a particular area. Also google maps said there is Haikou Chengxi Middle School, Haizheng School, and Qiongshan Overseas Chinese Middle School (海口市琼山华侨中学) at Fengxiang East Road, Qiongshan, Haikou, Hainan, China WhisperToMe (talk) 12:48, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- If you give me google map coordinates for any location and I will go there and take the photo. If you know the school name but not the coords, I will do my best to find it or have an assistant do so.
- The photo at File:Hainan_Airlines_headquarters.jpg was taken by me. They are about to demolish that whole building. It is gutted. Would you still like the photo?
- I can get various court building photos, and have already uploaded some other provincial court buildings. I don't know where the city hall is, but I can find that. Again, any coords of locations you want would be great.
- I'm keen on any photos of Haikou. This city is changing so fast that today's photos are tomorrow's history. I even started articles for marinas that only have 2 boats. I know that in 5 years they will be packed and look totally different. One day, these pics will look great in the history section of the articles. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:04, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

- I made those edits as there is no need to list individual colleges of a specific university, see Philadelphia for example, Temple University and University of Pennsylvania have many colleges but their individual colleges are not listed. I forgot to use the comment summary but there was no need to revert the entire edit, a notice on my page would've been enough for that. Gsingh (talk) 03:46, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- My apologies. I didn't realize that they were colleges of a university. I thought they were individual institutions. Sorry for reverting instead of bringing it up at your user page. I was working quickly and saw no edit summary, and that is sort of my normal practice when I see a chunk that size vanish with no comment. - List of microbreweries – A new drink list article I created. Please feel free to improve it, if you have the interest, time, etc. . Northamerica1000(talk) 14:16, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- It looks wonderful! A great new asset. Would you consider some sort of table thingy? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- A table in this particular instance may not be as functional or visually appealing, because most of the articles either don't have images or have small trademarked/copyrighted images of their company logos that wouldn't be usable on the list article due to copyright matters. In this case, unless I'm mistaken, the article would have most entries with blank boxes in the image areas of a table. Of course, it would be possible to omit the image fields and just have a shorter table with images on the right-hand side of the article. Another matter is the time it takes to fill-in short descriptions for each entry...very time consuming! Northamerica1000(talk) 03:53, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Changing a file name on Commons?
Hello Anna banana. I was going through some sea slug articles and I see that This image is incorrectly titled. As I just now noted in the "Description" section, this species was incorrectly identified on Flickr. This is not Tambja sagamiana, but Tambja gabrielae. Do you think you could re-name the file? Thanks! Hugs, Invertzoo (talk) 17:22, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

Random question
Hi,
Why do you have User:Anna Frodesiak/ANI? Keeping a transclusion of the world's greatest source of drama onto a userpage is a little... eccentric. Not that eccentricity is always bad, of course. bobrayner (talk) 22:25, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Excellent question. I forgot it was there. As I recall, somebody pasted
a chunk of content from anthe link to an ANI discussion there ages ago. Sometimes I am blocked from viewing ANI, likely because the word "noticeboard" gets detected by the Great Firewall of China. I think it was about some woman promoting her husband's stuntman business, and she was mad at me for AfDing it or something. I will speedy the page now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:27, 4 October 2012 (UTC)- No worries. Have fun! bobrayner (talk) 07:49, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
QCT
Hi Anna,
Thanks for your message and suggestion to expand Peripheral quantitative computed tomography. However, PQCT is in fact a subheading of QCT technology itself and that's why I want to create the page. How can I proceed? Thanks TSP Evol (talk) 12:45, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I'll take your word for that. :) Okay then, sure, continue to prepare Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/QCT, and when it's ready we can name it Peripheral computed tomography. Is that right?
- Next issue is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/QCT appears to contain copy pasted content from other websites. Is this so? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:50, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
QCT
Hi Anna, thanks for your note. No, I think this page should be entitled Quantitative Computed Tomography or preferrrably, QCT as its commonly known in the medical industry. Can you indicate what looks like it's been copied and pasted? That shouldn't be the case. TSP Evol (talk) 13:12, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oops, of course. I just read what I wrote. Okay, let's avoid the abbreviation and use Quantitative computed tomography.
- I copy pasted several sentences into google and it came up verbatim at other sites. Considering you wrote it, you are best able to answer whether or not any is copy pasted. What do you think? Do you remember copy pasting some? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:16, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Comment from a random passerby: I think Quantitative computed tomography is better because "QCT" is a three letter acronym which might easily be used for other things. (A quick google turns up lots of other things called "QCT" and I think at least two of them pass WP:N). So, it's probably best for QCT to be a redirect to the full name, and some day somebody will build it into a disambiguation page instead. bobrayner (talk) 13:32, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed, acronym. That's what I meant. Thanks Bob. I'm a little foggy today. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:55, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
QCT
Hi Anna, I pasted some sentences into Google and see what you mean. I will make changes to the language in the sections that mirror what comes up in search but the information itself won't change that much, that is general information that can be cited. Thanks for your help. I'll edit the troublesome bits. TSP Evol (talk) 13:45, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Splendid. It's important that it's all written from the source into your own words. See: WP:COPYVIO.
- About references, at the end of a statement in the article (mid-sentence or at the end after punctuation), add the reference like this:
- <ref>{{cite book | last = Quinn | first = Patricia | title = ADD and the College Student: A Guide for High School and College Students with Attention Deficit Disorder | publisher = Magination Press | year = 1994 | location = New York, NY | pages = 2–3 | url = http://www.maginationpress.com/4416630.html | isbn = 1-55798-663-0}}</ref>
- Here are a couple of blanks:
- <ref>{{cite book |title= |last= |first= |authorlink= |coauthors= |year= |publisher= |location= |isbn= |page= |pages= |url= |accessdate=}}</ref>
- <ref>{{cite journal |last1= |first1= |last2= |first2= |year= |title= |journal= |volume= |issue= |pages= |publisher= |doi= |url= |accessdate= }}</ref>
Thanks very much, that's helpful! Have a good day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TSP Evol (talk • contribs) 14:17, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Anna.
There appears to be a class project going on, under the subject code "Lib100", which appears to be at tertiary level: see User:Nmisgot/sandbox/Lib100 Students. I remember how you lead the work on:

Take a look at this copy-paste work
Kindly take a look the article about Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala. Which I tagged with copy-paste here. Check the current duplication report. And if you could please take the necessary steps that would be great. Also check the talk. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 08:22, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- It seems to be cleaned up. I removed a paragraph taken from another site. I don't think there was any mirror mistake as it's all too recent. I think all the copy paste was just cleaned up. It's probably safe to remove the copyvio tag now, so I removed it. Also, I can't visit the site in the report to check it out.
- As you probably now see, there are tons and tons and tons of copyvios. The editor approach of simply deleting offending text is really the only practical way, and what we are supposed to do. See "in a nutshell" at Wikipedia:Copyright violations and Wikipedia:Text Copyright Violations 101#If only part of the article is a problem. If we were to stop and rewrite and resource everything, we wouldn't stand a chance. Drop the folks at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations a line and they will tell you the same thing. Orphaned non-free media (File:Nanjing Normal University - logo01.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Nanjing Normal University - logo01.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:33, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
Request for GPS data assistance
Hi Anna, Noticed you have put some coordinates on the Pigeon Island (New Zealand) article. I am not sure how to collect this data and load it into a page. Looking to do this for mountains etc. Any help appreciated.
thanks andre --Grapeman4 (talk) 09:23, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Andre.
- Go to http://maps.google.ca/
- Find the location
- Right click it and select "What's here?"
- Copy the coords it produces in the search box which looks like this: 50.625073,-105.482813
- Paste it into one of these to produce such examples:
- For articles:
- Western hemisphere:{{coord|45.494796|N|73.57619|W|type:landmark|display=title}}
- Eastern hemisphere: {{coord|45.494796|N|73.57619|E|type:landmark|display=title}}
- For Commons images:
- Western hemisphere: {{Location dec|20.062364|-110.334889|}}
- Eastern hemisphere: {{Location dec|20.062364|110.334889|}}
- Notes: I'm getting the whole western/eastern and -/+ thing wrong probably. I usually do China and N. America, so those seem to work. You may have to try different things. Also, if the commons image is an on-the-ground shot, say of a bridge or something, then the coords are where the cameraperson is standing, not where the bridge is.
- Good luck,
- Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:39, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Amanda Todd - 01.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Amanda Todd - 01.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 10:26, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

- Well, it sort of has a rhythm. Does that count? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:38, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm. I looked at the YouTube videos. I just don't see how this could be viewed as a form or variation of rap. Am I missing something? Viriditas (talk) 05:38, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- No. I'm probably missing something, including a few brain cells, and at least two pairs of scissors. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:41, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- I could be wrong, but I think Xiangsheng is properly categorized as a form of sketch comedy. Viriditas (talk) 05:59, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, this has potential to be big in the states if we can get some proper translations. It's very interesting to watch. The people involved look like they are really enjoying themselves. Questions about Revision Control, Minor Edits
Anna - Does Wikipedia's revision control system have any conflict avoidance or resolution facilities? I.e., what happens if multiple people are editing an article at the same time? Didn't see anything about this in Editing info or FAQs. I know editing a section is better than editing the whole article, but don't know if more than one person could edit the same section without the 2nd person being notified that it was already being edited, or if saving will warn you if a save has been done since you started your edit.
Also, would you consider my changes to Malala_Yousafzai (see revision diffs here) to be minor, as they're only verb tense changes? Not specificially mentioned at Help:Minor_Edit so I didn't mark it minor. Thanks... Greg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gmporr (talk • contribs) 03:55, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Your last guess is correct--if someone saved an edit while you were making changes and the software couldn't automatically combine the two sets of changes, you'll be presented with a screen on which you're asked to manually merge the changes. See Help:Edit conflict for details. And those changes can indeed be marked as minor edits--you did not change the substance or meaning of the article, but rather corrected minor errors in grammar. Don't worry too much about whether you're correctly marking something as minor--so long as your classification isn't ridiculous and you're not deliberately passing off a potentially contentious change as a minor edit, it's fine. :) wctaiwan (talk) 05:35, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

- The problem in part is that the infobox in the Washington Bee had a missing parameter. It is missing "logo". Compare New York Times. I was about to try to fix it myself when you got to it. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 11:45, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- I see. I often encounter boxes with missing parameters or that are just twitchy, and that's a pretty solid fix. Now, if someone could help with infoboxes for ports and stadiums, that would be great. Those can be really buggy when it comes to adding images. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:52, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

The article List of mammoths has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- not enough items per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Palaeontology#The_table
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:26, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

File Upload
Hi,
I am trying to upload an image file, but I getting an error displayed on the top of the file upload page, saying 'Sorry, in order to upload files on the English Wikipedia, you need to have a confirmed account. Normally, your account will become confirmed automatically once you have made 10 edits and four days have passed since you created it.'.
I just wanted to confirm that the 10 edits required for this could be of the same page or different pages. Also, is there frequency limit for this (that is, the edits should not be made within one single day).
Please reply me asap.
Thanks, Karan Garg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karan.netsol (talk • contribs) 11:46, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Karan,
- From what I know, it is as you quote. Same page is okay, and no other conditions.
- May I ask, do you own the image? Would you like it to become public domain? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:20, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Yes, I have the image with me. Also it is available online. Actually I am trying to add the logo and some images on my company's wiki page. It is available under copyright, so I have no intentions to make it publicly available for any use. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karan.netsol (talk • contribs) 12:28, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Okay. As for the logo, it must be added to an article that already exists in the mainspace, and it must be small, and you need to use the right license. If the article exists, tell me the website source and I can do it for you.
- If you want to upload other images, like photographs, for use in the article, then I think they will need to become public domain, sort of. Others can download them and reuse them, but they have to credit you. Okay? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:53, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Fuzhou Airlines
Hello, Anna Frodesiak,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Fuzhou Airlines should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fuzhou Airlines .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks, — ṞṈ™ 16:09, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Wow. That was fast. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:13, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- OMG Sorry Anna. I have withdrawn the nomination so you can work on it. I apologize :( — ṞṈ™ 16:35, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- I have closed the AFD with my other account. — ṞṈ™ 16:36, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- That's okay. No apology necessary. Maybe it should be deleted. I don't know. There seems to be quite a few others at Category:Proposed airlines. I figured that if that cat exists, it could be okay. Also, I read WP:TOOSOON and that seemed okay. Sometimes I don't mind barebones articles because then others come along and add info as it comes in. Anyway, thanks for being so nice about it. And really, zap it if you think that's best. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:41, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I think that you can move it to your sandbox or expand it. Actually, taking a look at it, it has enough sources to be kept until more information is available (it seems to meet GNG). I guess you are right about TOOSOON but sometimes that guideline is not enough in cases like this (in my opinion, it has received too much coverage). If you need any help into expanding it, you may receive help from the WikiProject Airlines. I can help you formatting the sources if you need. Regards. — ṞṈ™ 16:50, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- I saved a copy at a sandbox upon seeing the AfD. I figured it would be deleted for sure.
- Did you mean: "...in my opinion, it has not received too much coverage..."?
- I may indeed bug the airlines project. They could have some inside scoop from industry sites I don't know about.
- I notice that some of the other proposed airlines really bombed and now we have a few articles that could be AfD fodder. Fuzhou Airlines will almost certainly be realized though. When George Soros puts up cash, it usually flies. Also, the airlines will get 300+ million USD, so that sort of helps merit a stub right away.
- As for refs, I will run reflinks eventually. I usually hold off on it during expansion to reduce clutter. Also, the urls are pretty stable. But thanks for the offer.
- Again, many thanks. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:02, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hehe I meant that for being a still-to-be-properly-established airline, it received a reasonable quantity of coverage. You're welcome :). If you ever need help, send me a message at my main account, User:Hahc21. Regards. — ṞṈ™ 17:12, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, not bad coverage. It's pretty big cash, and a venture by one of the big airlines in China. I expect quite a bit more media coverage soon. Thanks for the offer of help. I will bug you as soon as anything goes pear-shaped. Best wishes. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:19, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) ATWonline is a very solid source of aviation news - arguably on a par with flightglobal. In fact, most of the sources look pretty substantial. Whether or not the airline actually takes off, I think it's reached the GNG threshold. bobrayner (talk) 22:08, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

- It seems okay to me. What's missing? I upload tons of these logos, and this seems the same. Hmmmm. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:49, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- There's no licence template. You need to add one, for example {{Non-free logo}}. See WP:NFCC#10b. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:18, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- Done. Thanks. Someone once told me to remove {{Non-free logo}}and replace it with {{Non-free reduced}} when uploading reduced version. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:25, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
- {{Non-free logo}} should never be removed, and {{non-free reduced}} should contain a date. The easiest way to add a dated {{non-free reduced}} tag is to use {{subst:furd}}. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:54, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

To be fair, the deletion did not happen until some 48 minutes after the creation of the article, and it does IMHO qualify as a CSD A7 article. Nevertheless, I have restored it, at your request, in the hope that the author may improve it. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:57, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

- You were absolutely right to have deleted it. Snek01 should have done more to stabilize it before walking. The only reason I contested it was because of the creator. He knows the malacology field well, so likely knows something about Schepman that's notable. Either he'll expand it and show his notability, or, maybe it'll turn out that Schepman was just a huge windbag, and I will A7 or PROD the stub myself. Many thanks. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:10, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

- And there's a ton more "See also"s that could be added. I have done the first 40 listings under "Schepman". He is a seminal figure and should be worth a WP:DYK assuming we get this over the 1500 characters. However, I need a scientist, taxonomist to look at this. A snail person would be good, too. Yes, it is. Nevertheless, I've taken a whack at it. It could use some more editing and polishing (not Polish-ing), I think. And I make the pun with the nicest of noncontroversial intentions, being half descended from that ethnic group. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 19:56, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

- The whole Notable alumni' section of people is copy paste.

- Again, huge bits are still copy paste from [3] and [4]. Also instead of "dog ,cat" try "dog, cat". See the difference? - Thank you very much. Sorry to make a fuss. There are really only two big, serious things at Wikipedia: copyright matters and making claims about living people. Both can cause legal problems.
- Anyway, I hope you continue to edit. Please don't be put off by this first experience. The best way to write content is to copy paste the source to editing software on your computer, and then write a new paragraph below it, using facts from it. Trying to just take a paragraph and change a few words is really risky, and ends up in more work in the end.
- Best wishes, and happy future editing. If there's anything you ever need, just ask. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:36, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

- You must get permission. See User:Anna Frodesiak/OTRS. That's pretty much self-explanatory. If the person sends in that email, then it's fine, otherwise the image isn't allowed. Sometimes, rarely, an image is from a site that says something like "All images at this website are public domain. Go ahead. Use them!" But, that is very, very rare. Usually, the bottom of the website will have "Copyright." Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:26, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Mattheus Marinus Schepman as a possible DYK?
Anna, would you perhaps be interested in submitting the DYK for this? It's been so long since I did one that I am very rusty, and also I am a bit too busy IRL. Invertzoo (talk) 18:08, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Done User: Doug Coldwell did it, and I made sure that all the contributors are listed. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 20:06, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Splendid. Thanks. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:14, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- link to DYK template for Mattheus Marinus Schepman I think that there may be a better hook than the one that is listed. But the article is still under development, and there are so many possible hooks that it is like being in a fun house or house of mirrors. If anyone has constructive suggestions, they would be appreciated. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 20:21, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

- I'm a fan of punchy, short hooks. Can we squeesze the word "windbag" in? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:25, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Good alternate hook. The other possibility would be to talk about his collection and its sale. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 20:53, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

A good User page
What is a good user page that isn't an article?
Kelly Swanson (talk) 20:52, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Pardon me for interloping. Depends. See User: Blofeld. Or User: Doug Coldwell Or User: Berean Hunter If you troll the WP:User pages that are done by the editors who do the WP:DYKs on the WP:main page, you will find a host of examples. There is more than one way to skin a cat. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 20:57, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed. The world's your oyster. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:30, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- Kelly, I also made a suggestion on your user page. Apparently somebody didn't like your prior content (whatever that was). But If you put on the header that it is your userpage and not an encyclopedia article, I would think that objection would go away. But I am no WP:administrator, so my opinion will not buy you immunity. It's like dealing with a representative of the IRS, which reserves the right to tell you that you have no right to rely upon their advice. User pages are ordinarily deemed to be the 'property' of the user, and it is ordinarily left to them to edit and figure it out. Without interference from anybody. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 21:37, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
- If you want to recover the content of your prior deleted user page, you should be able to get that sent to you by a WP:Administrator. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 21:41, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

- Or, just a blurb about yourself is fine. As long as it's not trying appear as an article, it should be fine. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:42, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Amanda Todd date of birth
I'm unclear exactly what you are challenging regarding Amanda Todd's date of birth. The date November 27, 1996, would not normally require a citation because it is multiply sourced and in particular by her family remembrance page.
However a contributor on the Talk Page has pointed out there is a conflict inherent in a Huffington Post blog he quotes and it is therefore incumbent on us to provide a citation. I provided her family remembrance page but you reverted that claiming it was not an RS. Well, essentially it's a self-publicised source ("blog"), actually a little more than that but let it pass, but not all blogs are autonatically not RS. For example James Blunt's date of birth is cited from a blog.
But if we accept this challenge then we can't accept November as the month of her birth.
On the other hand if we brush aside the challenge with a "whack" of references to November as you do, then the challenge to the multiply sourced November 27 is also brushed away and we do not need a citation.
I intend to make a RfC and would appreciate your remarks as a start editor first. Prhaps you could confirm at the same time whether you are fundamentally opposed to giving her full date of birth. Why is adding the day of the month such a big deal? Are you seriously challenging the date November 27, 1996?
Thank you. FrontBottomFracas (talk) 04:04, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I see you have posted further on the Talk Page. I have also opened a thread at WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard here. FrontBottomFracas (talk) 04:51, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. It's pretty simple as I see it.
- If the community wants to leave birth day and date altogether, I'm fine with that.
- We have no reliable source for day. Blogs don't count, nor do memorial sites. Find a good source, and I will support inclusion.
- We have reliable sources for month, and I support inclusion because it makes the difference of about a year in estimating her age.
- Hi there. It's pretty simple as I see it.
- Cheers Anna. Tahnaks. I've now been sent an impecccable RS from Find a Grave as I note on the Talk page and I do hope this stelles all this. I much admired your start, and indeed ErrantX's input. Best. FrontBottomFracas (talk) 06:23, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I hope Find-A-Grave has photos. Without that, I suspect it will be challenged. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:34, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
A kitten for you!
Thanks for your Hep at wikipedia chat.
RB-ASHISH Talk to me 06:28, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thank's for the kitten. You're welcome. I don't know if I was much help. I still don't understand the organization. It's a very unclear website. Best of luck, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:35, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
The Barnstar of Diplomacy
The Barnstar of Diplomacy | ||
For this. Regardless of anyone's view of the matter in question, regardless of the outcome of the MfD, regardless of whether or not you were successful in your request for Sally Season to remove the names from her userpage, no one can deny that your message to her was the friendliest, most diplomatic thing anyone could have said. I am thoroughly impressed with just how well you worded your message and how friendly you came across. I think if the US had had you on hand at the time, we could have probably avoided the Cuban Missile Crisis. If only every Wikipedian had the attitude that you have when it comes to talking with others (and, I admit, I couldn't hope to be as diplomatic as you). – Richard BB 08:41, 2 November 2012 (UTC) |
- Thanks you so much. Of course, you didn't mention that I mixed up her name, twice. (I'm an idiot.) I must have been thinking of User:Invertzoo. Now, had I accidentally referred to Castro as "Susan", we'd all be skeletons right now. :)
- Oh, that reminds me of a skeleton joke: Skeleton goes into a bar and says: "Give me a beer, and a mop." Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:06, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think misreading "Season" as "Susan" is an easy mistake to make. I should have also added "charming and amusing tangents" to that barnstar: that little skeleton joke had me chuckling at my desk -- as did your tangent about voodoo dolls on Sally's talk page. – Richard BB 09:52, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I guess Sally Season --> Susan is sort of an understandable brain hiccup. As for the voodoo dolls, I really think they could make a comeback. Could be the next pet rock. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:02, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Anna, just a heads up that I have indeffed Michael for violating the conditions of his unblock.--Bbb23 (talk) 12:17, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Bizarre. Like I said "this fellow is a bit unpredictable". Oh well, I guess we can stop keeping an eye on him. :) Thanks for letting me know. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:28, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
