Default Island of Terror (1966)

***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCE***

Heads up for fans of the late great horror legend Peter Cushing. We will be releasing one his more obscure and underrated films, ISLAND OF TERROR from 1966 on Blu-ray in early Summer! Film is directed by Terence Fisher (The Gorgon, Dracula: Prince of Darkness).

Pre-order links will go up sometime next month.

Love this flick. It used to play on afternoon tv all the time back in the day. Creepy, and cool monsters.

Island of Terror and Night of the Big Heat both out in the UK for a long time.
Island of Terror even has a censor cut restored of a severed hand.
Shout need to be aware of that.

Even though the UK blu-rays are "region free" they don't play on all players. I think they were 50hz or something if I recall. So, I'm glad to see a U.S. release

The original US poster wasn't much better, and this is just a reworking of it. The VHS art was also pretty lousy, using one of the same photos. The UK poster art was better, but still looked amateurish and drawn by a 10-year-old. Not sure what the UK Blu cover was like, but I don't think there's good art for this film anywhere.

Please someone let them know on facebook about that censored shot that timeschange mentioned.

I'm looking forward to this, I don't believe I've seen this one. But I love anything with Peter Cushing on Christopher Lee, especially from this era.

Would love to see Night of the Big Heat on Blu-ray!

While Night of the Big Heat appears to be in 1080/50i, Island of Terror is 1080/24p, so it should play fine.

Anyway, hope Scream adds some extras to replace the UK blu I have.

I saw this movie in the 80's on tv and never knew the title of it. Been trying to find it for years. Thank you Scream Factory!

Sounds right up my alley. Glad to see Shout! releasing 50s and 60s horror.

I have the UK version. It's always been a pretty gruesome movie to me. I put it up there with Fiend Without A Face, in the gruesome department. The sound effects of the Silicates feeding, are pretty creepy.

Now if we can just get Day of the Triffids already!!!!! I know it's being released in the UK, but it's DVD only. AND no indication that it's the restored version.

Love Peter Cushing and I've never seen this one so it absolutely goes on the "to buy" list. I've seen a few comments here and there asking Scream to ensure that the "uncut" version is released. What were the cuts and why? This is a 1966 film and fairly obscure at that. I'm surprised there's a version out there with cuts. Thanks in advance for the info!

This one has been on my "meaning to buy one day" list at Amazon UK for a very long time. But the price on it has always been high whenever I've looked, so I've held off. As a huge Cushing fan, I'm delighted this is getting a domestic release.

As a few others have said, bring on NIGHT OF THE BIG HEAT!

The main footage that was cut, was a graphic shot of someone having their hand cut off, with an axe. It's quick but gory.

Spoiler filled review below:

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it will be the uncut version. If it was released in the UK uncut, I'm sure it will be here too.

You have quite a few poster options that would have been much better than the slapdash cover they chose:

and here is a photo of that (heh heh) "cut" scene:
