DTS Studio Sound for an Immersive Experience

A great addition to your home theater system, the Toshiba ABX3250 Audio Base Speaker System features DTS Studio Sound, which allows the speaker system to be tuned to accurately extract and place audio cues and deliver true-to-life sound. Post-processing and psychoacoustic techniques are used to enhance the bass and dialogue and provide a consistent level of volume.

Dolby Digital for Rich Surround Sound

The Audio Base comes equipped with Dolby Digital, which is an advanced audio encoding/decoding technology that delivers up to 5.1 discrete channels of vibrant surround sound for an immersive audio experience.

Bluetooth Technology for Wireless Connections

Along with a pair of HDMI inputs and one output, the Audio Base offers Bluetooth capability, which allows you to wirelessly connect your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or another Bluetooth-enabled device for streaming music. Near field communication (NFC) technology makes it simple to pair this system with another device.

It contains two HDMI in ports, one HDMI out port, one 3.5mm audio in port, two analog audio RCA in ports, and two digital optical audio in ports. The subwoofer measures 13.9 by 7.5 by 12.7 inches (H x W x D) and weighs 14.5 pounds.

    I was a little disappointed with this purchase. I bought this because the product information stated it had a headphone jack. To me, that means you can plug in headphones and listen without disturbing others. This is not the case. It does have the plug in, but it is for input only, like connecting an iPod or your phone, or some other device that you want listen to. I will now have to buy a set of wireless headphones to use this the way I need to use it. The sound is adequate, and has a good number of sound variations available to get what sounds best to you. Controls are easy to manage with the remote, or the controls on the unit. The read out display is a nice size to see what you are doing.

    This worked perfectly for a few days - surprisingly big sound. It's a little muddy when it comes to the middle of the spectrum -- I'm glad I left this on streaming music for several hours yesterday - it developed the same high-pitched whine that caused the Soundbar version of this (SBX4250) to have such poor reviews (look at Amazon or the Toshiba product support forums for more details). Apparently the whine develops when the unit is left on for a longer period of time. I'm going to cut my losses and return this, it's a shame because otherwise this is a great product in concept!
