Children love and need autonomy. Give them as many opportunities to make choices throughout the day which will give them a sense of empowerment. At the same time limit those choices to two options to make it simple and easy for them to make a decision. Engage them in what you are doing and listen out for clues and cues as to what their interests are. Often following their interests can lead you both down a path of curiosity and exploration that may surprise you both.
