OPs question is a bit partial to me

It all depends on what you like, not what others like.

I think bmw e30s are one of the most attractive cars made.
I LOVE 1985 Chevy Chevettes.
Im a VW enthusiast.
The Porsche 911s with the wailtail.... are pure perfection and the holy grail of all cars to me.
I dont care for Mustangs, those are for the ladies.
I like small square designed cars.

a car being trashy, if its been neglected its no good no matter what it is. Let me give you an example for fun.....

This is what I drive.... a Mk3 VW golf, not my car but same thing.... Its a regular commuter car, some will say its a heap of trash..

Now heres the same model but 2 door, and this owner cared about his car....

see the difference?

Age has almost nothing to do with it IMO. If you like it thats all that matters

We have one that's 11 years old and still looks like new, and my commute beater is 16 years old and is starting to look trashy, so I'll say 15 years.

Having lived in several areas of the country, I would have to say it depends on where you live. Around D.C., any 15-year old vehicle looks fairly classless around all the new Mercedes, BMWs and SUVs. However, here in small town west Texas, if I see a brand new $40,000 F150 sitting in the driveway of a $15,000 house in town, that looks trashy to me. If, however, I see a $2,500 '91 Accord sitting in the 1/4 mile long driveway of a new $400,000 rural brick home, I probably wouldn't even notice it.

Yeah, the bottom one looks trashy. The top one just looks like an old car, at least until you see the lynched monkey and orange VW logo.

Mines five years old and beginning to look kinda long in the tooth... doesn't help that there's not a body panel left someone hasn't bashed into with their car, shopping cart, etc. One in better cosmetic shape pass for pretty respectful in most company for years to come.

lol

Is having a lowered suspension your idea of trashy?

this is what I mean though. It only matters what you like.

Did OPs date say something about their car?

My husband and his dad would beg to differ. I'm not allowed to drive his 99 Cobra, but I have driven his Dad's Mach 1 40th anniversary edition. I HATE the insurance on the 99 but its my husbands toy.

No, lowered is fine. Lowered wrong (that) is not. Get a camber kit, lift it up an inch or two so it can actually handle as well as it did stock rather than riding around on the bump stops. At least they didn't put on a park bench and fake canards, could definitely be worse.

Trash, like Beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Obviously someone thinks it's not trash. That someone just isn't me.

I have seen 5 year old vehicles that are trashy because the owners just don't care. I still get compliments on my 92 4Runner. Original paint job and it still looks great.
