So with that said, come on in! Our front door and garage door were both recently transformed with some glossy black paint. I am obsessed with all things black and white these days.
Our favorite place to hang out is the family room. We are usually working on puzzles, playing Wii, or using the hearth as stage for impromptu dance performances :) We had our pink brick fireplace/white mantle re-painted. It was risky, but worth it. Now the dark brown brick and black mantle are more dramatic- and more 'us'. All of our paint colors can be found here. And find out the 'secrets' I have discovered in my journey to create a unique home here and more here.
Our bedroom is full of soft neutrals and lots of texture. I wanted it to be neutral but still have some pops of color.
Our master bathroom was completely remodeled with new tile, paint, fixtures, and a stand-alone tub.
Which somehow led to me needing a chandelier in our closet...
Due to the hot Texas weather, we spend a lot of time in our pool and lounging around the backyard. It is like having an extra living area. Even when it's hot, we can sit in the pool all afternoon. I am glad my husband likes to garden- because I never inherited my mom's green thumb!
Our pool has a great 'before/after' story. Click here to read about the renovations that made our pool look like 'new' again.
The girls love spending time in the tree house too. It's nice for them to have their own space :)
Upstairs is our playroom/family room. I spent several days hand-stenciling the wall. It is great to have a room that can hold our girls toys but also be enjoyed everyone in the family. I think it is important that it also has some style! Most of the furniture in this room, was 'upcycled'. For example, the tv console used to be my daughter's changing table. I love my sweet girls' silhouettes. I don't know if I will ever be able to take them down- even when they turn into crazy teenagers. They will forever be frozen in my mind at this age.
My little girl still has the 'shabby chic' style with blue, white and pink.
And I have my own room up here too- my crafty room. It usually doesn't look this neat :) I spend naptime in here, sewing, hot glueing and sometimes even painting a bit. I refinished an old school desk that now sits in the corner. I love having my girls around to keep me company :)
Thanks for stopping into visit my home. I hope you'll follow my blog or subscribe to receive updates by email. I like to write about my family, things I do with my girls, decor that I love, and projects that I 'sneak in' during nap time. There are lots of inspirational crafty adventures still to come.
Be sure to check out my 'tutorials' page for holiday decor and more home projects.
Love it all. Makes me miss my old house and anxious to buy another home so I can start doing my thing to it. :)

You did well in renovating the living room. A brighter living room is advisable because that is the place where people gather.

Can you talk about the ceiling in your craft room? It looks wonderful!

ReplyDeleteHi Sandy- the ceiling was done before I moved in, our previous owners get the credit for that project! But from what I can tell, they simply nailed 'tin tiles' to the ceiling. I love the look, seems fairly simple to do and it adds a lot of interest to the room. I have seen similar 'tin tiles' at Lowes and Home Depot.

ReplyDelete@Lindsay-- you are so sweet! It has been a work in process. I think I actually started 'decorating' it about 4 years ago! Wow, that sounds like a really long project now that I think about it. Yikes! :) Samantha
