I have a complicated history with mascots, but I think we can all agree that if there is something good about these furries without the sex holes, it's that they can occasionally bring comedy in spades. The intentional comedy? Not that great. But the unintentional is a beautiful and wonderful thing.
Which brings us to yesterday's Browns-Bengals game, where the winless Browns continued their season of nightmares with a dismal effort. But while the team on the field lacked effort, Brownie the Elf was giving it his all.
Unfortunately, if 2016 has taught us anything, it's that giving it your all can't necessarily stop the world from taking a big old dump on you.
If this GIF doesn't say "Monday morning," I don't know what does. Now, it would be fair to say that this was an embarrassing moment for Brownie the Elf, but I want to challenge that notion. What is a mascot's job? In a very literal way, a mascot's job is to be the physical embodiment of a sports team. Never has a mascot been a more accurate physical embodiment of its team than Brownie the Elf in this moment. If the technology existed, the Browns could put this GIF on their helmets and it would serve as the most accurate logo in the league. So, congrats to Brownie for being the only person in the Browns organization doing his job well.
