Sapphire Elegy

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
These mid-sized flying Heartless can blink out when struck, avoiding damage and teleporting to a new location.

Deflect their head-butts with a block to knock them out and leave them vulnerable to attack.

The Sapphire Elegy is an Emblem Heartless that is found in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Design[edit]

A Sapphire Elegy has a smooth, conical, dark blue body that is sapphire blue at its base and has a Heartless emblem emblazoned on its chest. The top of its body flares outward and forms a jagged "collar" below the Heartless's spherical, pitch black head. It also wears a conical, dark blue hat that has a sapphire blue tip, a turquoise inside, and a jagged brim and a thin, curled tip. Like many Heartless, the Sapphire Elegy has glowing yellow eyes. Its seemingly useless feet sport three small, thin toes.

The Sapphire Elegy's name has the same structure as other Heartless in its family, consisting of a color—in this case, sapphire blue—and a musical term—in this case, an elegy, a song set to a melancholy tone, usually to mourn.

Strategy[edit]

A Sapphire Elegy can be quite an annoyance to defeat if the correct strategy is not used against one. They are not all-out offensive, but they warp to new locations when hit with either physical attacks or magic head-on. They may also perform a swiping tactic, which is merely used as a means of knocking Roxas away. This can be avoided with a well-timed Dodge Roll. Lastly, these Heartless have access to a headbutt attack which can be avoided with Dodge Roll, Block, or even a colliding physical attack of Roxas.

If hit by their physical attack, there is a 20% base chance that the Flip-foot status effect will be inflicted, which reverses the controls that control the character's movement. When it comes to eliminating a Sapphire Elegy, it is best that Roxas launch all physical or magic-based attacks from behind, or block the Sapphire Elegy's headbutt to leave it vulnerable to both physical and magic attacks. Despite the great struggle it may be to eliminate a Sapphire Elegy, these Heartless drop munny and HP orbs upon defeat, and they may also drop any one of the three Rune Tech items.
