STA’s Principal Climate Change Officer attends training on Destination Management
Samoa Tourism Authority (STA), in its ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and environmental consciousness, continues to leverage available opportunities, given its vulnerability to climate change and its impacts.
STA's Principal Climate Change Officer, Roland Setu, recently participated in the Te Unga Mai Programme in Rotorua, New Zealand, from July 30th to August 3rd, 2024, with other participants from the Pacific region.
Te Unga Mai Programme provided a valuable learning platform for Pacific cohorts to engage with Regional Tourism Organizations within New Zealand.
Setu expressed that the programme offered him a broader perspective on destination management, particularly the integration of sustainable developments within the private sector.
STA remains steadfast in its efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change through the implementation of sustainable development practices. This commitment is reflected in its active participation in programmes such as Te Unga Mai, which foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in the pursuit of sustainable tourism and environmental preservation.
