Summer Work Wear

Teacher Work Outfits

I am so excited to share a new series/category that I will be featuring on The Teacher Diva called, Wear To Work. I get many emails requesting work outfit inspiration and I am looking forward to incorporating more work wear options on TTD. Although I am no longer in the classroom (you can read more about that here), I do find myself looking for office appropriate clothing to wear when I have brand visits or lunch meetings.

While, I don’t want this series to be focused on “teachers only” (I know many of you are not teachers), I did feel a personal connection to this one. This outfit is one that you would normally find me in while teaching. My classroom was notoriously cold, so no matter what time of year, I always had my denim jacket or cardigan on hand. I know some of you can relate! Also- comfort is key and I wearing cotton dresses. They are just so comfortable and easy to move in! This Navy Midi Dress from Nordstrom is probably the most comfortable dress I own (it feels like pajamas, which may or may not be a good thing at work). I usually did not wear heels, since I was on my feet 90% of the day, but for you guys who have a desk, I love these lace up heels. You’ve probably seen me wear them over and over again on here, but they really are very comfortable, versatile and easy to walk in.

So, what do you think of this series? My goal is to have two posts a month featuring specific work appropriate outfits at all price points. Is there anything specific you want to see in this series? As you may know, we are working on a few exciting changes with The Teacher Diva and one of them is incorporating a few new categories to the blog. Since this was such a highly requested topic, I wanted to share this one first!

If you have a specific Wear to Work question or theme you want to see, feel free to shoot us an email at theteacherdiva.com with Wear to Work in the subject line. I would love to hear from you! xx Ashley

I’m very excited about this series! While several of the bloggers I follow post great casual and weekend wear, I’m always looking for ways to spruce up my office business casual wardrobe (which like your old classrooms are always freezing cold) ?

I look forward to this series. I work in a office that is business casual. I think this series can apply to a wide range of readers. I love the midi dress look with the lace up heels!

Love this new series idea! Can’t wait to see the outfits you post. Would love ideas for cute/comfy flats. I’ve transitioned to a standing desk at work so heels unfortunately aren’t as practical anymore!

Hi Marian! I have a standing desk at work, too and since I move a lot between my desk and wherever else i’m being called to, I keep an extra pair of fancy slippers/flip flops, sandals, or flats at my desk for comfy standing.

I’m so glad that you’re doing this series! Not many fashion bloggers I follow have a dedicated series to those of us that still work a full-time corporate job so it’s nice to see some options. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

I love this! I love a wear to work series. One thing that could be great, if you’re up for it, is one key piece of work clothing worn two ways–one for more formal situations (client meetings/job interviews/etc.) and one way for more ‘business casual’ days (normal day at the office, or even work-to-play kinds of days where people’s schedules leave no time to have multiple outfits for the day, or–for me–on campus and teaching in front of college students, where ‘super casual’ is actually totally OK but I still want to look put together)? I am sure there are many women whose approach to shopping is very much like mine–I have to know I will wear the same piece of clothing in, like, seven different kinds of situations and in at least two or three areas of my life if I am going to find room in my budget for it (and if I love it enough and if I can envision how I will wear it, I *will* find room in my budget!!!)…

Just a thought. HOWEVER–I love the outfit in this blog. And the idea of a couple of times a month is a great one!

I too am a teacher, so I love that you started off the series with a practical outfit that’s true to what you wore in the classroom. I think hitting all categories: business professional, business casual, casual, and even work from home/stay at home mom, student, would be a great way to engage and appeal to all readers. I also like the idea of featuring a few classic pieces that could work for all women in the above categories, like a great blazer, a versatile tote, comfortable kitten heels, and other accessories that could work for all types. Also, you could feature how to take that look from day to night: the teacher who has a meeting with the board, the lawyer who is grabbing drinks after work, the freelancer at home who has a dinner date. Just some ideas. Thanks for starting this! I look forward to it!

I am excited to see this wear to work series! I work in a 99% male-dominated work force so I like to keep is conservative but I also don’t like to compromise my personal style. It is a challenge! Any tips are appreciated! Thank you.

I’m very excited for this! Practically everything I purchase now, I have to know I can wear it at work or play. I would love to see looks with flats (I walk too much to wear heels). I also like the idea of showing multiple style options for a featured item. If I know I can wear it many ways, I’m way more willing to spend a bit more. Lastly, I work in a pretty conservative work environment. So seeing things that are stylish and true to business casual and/or profession would be great!
