As a consummate artist, Taiwanese violinist Jean Huang Baverstam is equally passionate about all three career roles: performer, music scholar, and educator. Jean holds a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory, and her active performing career has brought her to concert halls internationally and has impacted listeners throughout the United States. Passionate for teaching, Jean currently serves as an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University. She also teaches violin lessons at the New England Conservatory School of Expanded Education and Preparatory School

Maintaining an active performing career, Jean serves as both the Concertmaster of the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra and Brookline Symphony. She has received recognition for her leading artistry from the Cape Cod Times and other prominent music critics. In addition to formal concert halls, Huang seeks to reach untapped potential classical music lovers through various approaches. Praised for her emotive and expressive playing, Jean enjoys presenting standard repertoire alongside contemporary music. Finding the common language and connection between professional musicians and music lovers alike invigorates her passion. This has led to valuable experiences, such as a residency at the Chamber Music Conference at Colgate University.

Jean loves performing and believes music can provoke the wildest imagination. As a result, she often looks for a three-way connection between composer, performer, and audience. Jean is recognized for her lecture-recitals discussing topics such as "The Musician's role," "Baroque Dances," and "The Evolutionary Violinist." During these lecture recitals, she combines virtuosic violin playing, her musicology background, and multi-media commentary that audience members of all experience levels can engage with.

Praised for her “transcendent tone,” Jean’s recent concerto appearances include a sold-out Vaughan William’s Lark Ascending concert, Mozart sinfonia Concertante concert, and Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aris concert with the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra and Brookline Symphony, and Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.5 with the Music for Peace Orchestra. Her other affiliations include the Miclot Chamber Series, Vangarde Orchestra, Anastasia String Quartet, and a founding member of Trio Flamecrest. 

 Jean resides in Newton, Massachusetts, with her cellist husband, Sebastian, and their opera singer cat Mimi.
