Perfection! The art, the characters, the humor, the music, the recipes. Everything. ‘For fans’ only because I’m not sure everyone will appreciate the dry humor, which is based heavily on Japanese culture, like Gintama but only better. I could not love TSS more.
It would be hard to imagine a more synergistic combination of animation, sound, and writing.
The art is the BEST—simple and expressive—more skillfully done than many more ‘polished’ animes. It’s a big part of the wit. Although it obviously differs from that of 1960’s underground comix, it has that same spontaneous, back-row-of-the-classroom feel.
Watched Sunred when it premiered and loved it then, but it is even better the second time :)
