The tv show 'The Boys', relies on simplistic shock and awe to achieve its commercial success. This anime however is about 40% commercial and 60% trying to deliver a deeper message.
It delves deeply into the lives of many people and looks at problems and emotions from different angles. And in the course of the 22 eps I came to love each and every one of them.
The low rating for this show is because the author does not know how to intelligently 'manipulate' our feelings. So this is not something where you can hand over your brain to someone for a few hours and get entertained.
If you have been watching anime for some time, you know that you run out of good anime. For me this is one of those good anime that I am always searching for. Its not perfect, but I am glad that I watched it.

Famous model Hazama Masayoshi has decided to become a superhero, despite having no superpowers or the technology to create a high-powered suit. He assumes the identity of Samurai Flamenco and begins to fight crime in the name of justice. Police officer Gotou Hidenori finds out about Samurai Flamenco and his real identity by a twist of fate, which leads to him getting involved into lots of trouble. Nonetheless, these two young men will come face to face with hardships of being crime-fighters while discovering what it truly means to be a hero of justice.

This show really does take a tonal shift after the first arc, turning a bit darker in order to portray more "realism" in the characters while progressing more "absurdist" plot-wise. It would be very easy to write a show like this very poorly, but I think they did a good job here of balancing things as long as one can accept that each new arc starts a new tonal shift. Just don't be fooled by the first arc where this starts out as some sort of comical "civilians pretending to be heroes" story. That's only the first stage of the evolution. Recommended for anyone, really, but with particular emphasis on people who like to explore the superhero type of story. There's a fair bit of psychology here in addition to action and the comedic elements.

This anime starts out with the main character wanting to be a "superhero" and fighting against local crime in the streets of Japan. The first 6 Episodes are at times cringe worthy because of how awkward the main character is. AFTER those 6 episodes however it takes a CRAZY turn. If you can't handle what happens after then don't continue. It has whacky moments which you will other LOVE OR HATE. Viewer discretion is advised!

Started off really good, but toward the middle of season, it went downhill, then became very boring.

This superhero anime was awesome 1st 6-7 episodes since it was about your neighborhood hero fighting small crimes using office supplies. However, for some reason... the plot got cheesy/corny and just when you thought it couldn't get anymore over the top, somehow it did. The last few episodes were a bit dark and serious, but by this point, you've been through such a roller coaster ride you don't know what to expect. The ending was good, but a bit disappointing how much this series changed from the beginning. All in all, I think its worth the watch since there are a lot of cool moments, even though the plot changes dramatically per episode.

Good and enjoyable with a mixture of comedy and slice of life genre and both mature and childish sides until it becomes serious. Like the enemies that suicide at the end, this series did the same by changing its genre to an absurd fictional heroic type.
The ending is truly great.
Still recommended, but I won't follow up with the rest of the series.

It's a very nice anime in which the characters aren't shallow and yet they are. It's awesome. It's weird how shallow and non shallow it can be at the same time, but it totally works!!
A must see!! but it is hard to descriphe why.. however if you watch it you'll get hooked.

Hilarious characters and their sense of justice. Definitely recommend this if you like lots of comedy and humor. Nothing serious, just non-stop jokes.
