Person: Ootsuki Toshimichi

Ootsuki Toshimichi is a former anime and tokusatsu producer, former managing director at King Records and the founder and former representative director of Gansis. He was also a guest professor at the Osaka University of Arts Department of Arts and a guest teacher at 81 Produce.

Ootsuki was born in Mito, a city in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, and graduated from the Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Science at Nihon University. His first venture into the animation business was a part-time job at animation magazine Animage while studying at the university. In 1984 he joined Starchild Records, where he started working as a music producer. After Fujita Junji left to establish Youmex, Starchild was on the verge of ceasing to exist after losing many of its staffers, but Ootsuki made it a successful label once again.

Ootsuki was one of the key people in the animation industry, who was heavily involved in the establishing of a female voice actor boom starting in the early '90s. The boom was supported by the production of image songs and radio drama CDs, many of which he produced. One of the voice actors he brought into stardom was Hayashibara Megumi.

He was also a producer and planner of many hit anime shows, such as Martian Successor Nadesico, FLCL, Love Hina and Azumanga Daioh.

In 2016, Ootsuki left his position at King Records and moved to Miyakojima, a city in Okinawa Prefecture.
