A really unnecessary sequel. The first OVA wrapped most things up nicely, but here they go and ignore its ending, setting El Hazard 2 before it (the ending).
Apparently the creators even struggled to come up with original material:
Another extremely powerful superweapon is discovered and for some reason no-one knew about it.
Another biological machine called Kalia is discovered, except this one is really boring and doesn't have a backstory.
Another Ifurita is discovered, which downplays the significance of the original Ifurita's existence (and her status as the most powerful Demon God). It's downplayed even further when it's revealed that everyone and their grandma had one.
Another traveller from Earth is discovered. He also has the same power as Makoto.
etc.
Redundant stuff like that makes this anime basically a rehash of the first OVA. The only real development it presents is Fujisawa's and Miz's marriage. Which could've happened off-screen and no-one would've cared.
Basically, skip this anime. You won't miss anything if you go straight to The Alternative World.
More weirdness. Makoto (despite no longer having to impersonate the princess) continues to dress pretty girly, while the princess herself dresses up like Makoto to repeatedly try and steal the girls that are attracted to him. Then someone tries to destroy the world for some reason or other.
The weirdness of this series really cannot be understated.
Anyway, this isn't bad exactly, it's just completely unnecessary. Fillerish in a way.
