really nice sense in those moments portrayed, aroptua 〜
Thanks! I got bored and rummaged around pixiv for a bit. Ermeson's last entry did it for me, though. I was planning on posting another one but now I just can't.
What about italics, though? I just like to italicise random things.
I choose to take your use of italics on random as a wink!! I just can't believe there is no method to how you can take my breath away.

I get you. I want to vote for the TCB one but the one you posted speaks to me on a deep emotional level.
I just have to say... I missed the first round of voting, and so I'm extremely grateful to still have the honor of participating in this exquisite choice. As far as I'm concerned, we can't go wrong with any of these.
The engagement one also really moves me when I look at it! I imagine it set in a wonderfully romantic restaurant in San Francisco I know—or one like it, that's at the top of a skyscraper, with 360° views... Though mostly you are gazing into the eyes of the person in front of you. Interesting composition and perspective. It's kind of voyeuristic. But not to me in a lonely way. It's kind of like the focus is on the ambience created by the couples there, and then closing in on this incredibly powerful moment happening.
In the end, I always give a lot of weight to artistry, because it's something I value tremendously. And so the overall skillfulness, as I perceive it, is often the determining factor in my vote... which I won't announce.
The clips from season 4 on https://weibo.cn/u/5898102488 seem kind of deliciously soapy... The animation looks relatively low budget (have to ignore that only the mouths are moving sometimes), but the voice acting and overall composition seem good. This series seems very different from anything you're likely to find in Japanese animation these days.
Anyway, I will check it out soon (subtitles available for first two seasons).
For the upcoming Christmas Patreon post, I'm holding a contest for people to submit a Christmas-themed banner that will be used on our Patreon Christmas campaign post. All users welcome to participate.
What have I been missing out on for the past year? (I'm married now btw.)
Can't believe I'm still admin here.
Good thing is, missing out over a year allows me to ask this question for the first time: "Any good recommendations for must-watch series (since Spring 2017) ?"
Seems familiar. Not sure where this is from, but it's beautiful
It seems to be an edit of this image by hrd. Doesn't seem to be related to any particular title.

I thought you got married back in 2016? Am I confusing timelines?
And, I guess, that makes it two married admins now. Proper.
I haven't had the time to catch up with current anime since about 2014 but I did watch Just Because! recently. Not only is it a goldmine for reaction images but the story is quite satisfying. Made me feel young again. Gamers! was pretty entertaining, too, if you just want a few laughs along with a stereotypical love polygon comedy.
An interesting thing about traditional voting is that you cannot tell what the second favorite (and so on) is from the result. You cannot even tell which is most favored for sure. You can only tell which one most voters most favor, which is different than which has the most favor, including from those for whom that popular one is not their first favorite, but is still favored.
I point this out because I am curious what the results would be if we knew how favored each image is... Although I voted for the top vote-getter, there is another I would have had to vote for if not for it; guweiz's.

Congratulations, go-!!!
Who is the other married admin, by the way?
Looking at what I watched in the last year or so, although I saw two or three very good anime, I didn't really see anything of note that is significantly in the romance genre. Check out my latest votes if you're curious. I can try to comment on anything you're curious about. Much of the short list of anime I watched were older things as well, which is most often the case.
Why is January such a dead month? There is no one anywhere and, on the other hand, I'm super busy.
I don't know! I was moved to make a proposal, what with Valentine's being obvious for the occasion and all, but I really have a lot going on right now. Surprise proposals are pretty fine too, though, come to think of it...
this one is higher res and a wider crop, but crops out the hands touching at bottom of frame...
Layers or clone tool could merge these. I have poor tools right now but could try to do so if this picture is selected.
I'm a little embarrassed to ask... but who is moot?
too long don't read
I was impressed with Oxer's technical skill, discovering him for this month's image contest... Still, I have to admit, though the level of his craft is high, only a small portion of his work, to me, demonstrates great creative vision. In art, I think, I am most interested in that which is highly evocative and moving. In portraiture, I want to see images that are revealing and—in the ideal—profound, even if on the surface highly ordinary. This level of vision is not common—or at least easy to realize—for artists, but we as humans are all familiar I think with being moved by experiences and people. I find if one really pays attention to people, one can be moved every day, many times a day. I am intensely interested in people as individuals as well as their manifestation of powerful universal aspects, and what is the purpose of portraiture? —To me it is to communicate those experiences.
In fairness, what he does, I cannot do. What he does is above average. And considering his level of output, his great works are not infrequent, they are just not in the majority.
No rush, but please don't forget to update the group image this month! (Even if without the thank-you added.)
This was an interesting vote... We managed to get as close to an all-way tie as is mathematically possible with the number of voters we had... in both rounds!
We might easily have had a different result if we had allowed 2 choices in the first round (I think we'd actually moved to having that be the policy when we have 5 or more images).
The trouble with having a vote for multiple options that people like result in definitively determining the option that the most people prefer to the greatest degree is sadly not solved by any "single vote" system (and not entirely by "multiple vote" systems that don't rank votes by order of each voter's preference, either). This is why I hinted a while back that I might someday contribute to developing an updated vote system for AniDB, should the contribution be welcome. It would be what's known as "instant run-off" or "ranked choice voting" (of course, the option to create polls that work the traditional way could still be retained). While I'm excited about the idea of improving vote outcomes such that they are as democratic as possible, I would have a learning curve in order to contribute code, since I don't know my way around PHP, Perl, or Javascript (even if I have varied programming experience). It would almost certainly require new database fields, too, and counting the votes would be more complicated than in the current system. Not to mention, I have health problems that negatively effect my ability to develop/contribute anything.
I have a simple alternative suggestion that might help our voting situation out:
I've been watching the polls for our Patreon image contests (and I think the other polls related to raising funds to cover AniDB expenses before them), which allowed voters to vote for any number of options and also had the results viewable during the polling. One interesting thing to me about setting up a poll that way is that if voters look at the poll more than once during the voting period, they have the benefit of considering the current results in determining how to vote. This is kind of like a continuous run-off, and it also allows voters to show support for all the images they like, so the result of the poll is likely to better reflect how liked each option is, and voters can make difficult choices as needed—with the benefit of viewing the running results—to help resolve potential ties for the top spot. This is not as perfect as ranked choice voting would be, but it might actually work better than what we do now, and might (as a small technical benefit) be likelier to avoid the need for a run-off vote. The only part that's a little questionable—to my mind—is allowing people to vote for all the options, because doing so doesn't help decide the winner. However, that still does help have the results reflect how much support each option has... Any voter who does that will likely be well aware that their vote didn't really determine anything (though it might keep an option in the running for others to decide). They can easily return to break a tie if needed, by removing one or more votes they cast. So, I think I even like that option. In the event of a separate run-off vote being needed, we could only allow number of options minus 1 votes be cast in the run-off so that every voter has to make a choice that changes the final result (I'd have the run-off have results visible during voting too).
It seems like it might be worth trying the viewable votes, any number of votes method and seeing how it goes.
May we all enjoy such a scene with a loved one soon.
Belove holds up a sign: "Free virtual nomnoms!"
(......I couldn't think of anything appropriate to say......)
Or, equally, may we enjoy a scene like the yummy one on the train platform (thanks to our pretty special agent, prte007).
