Alabama County Tax, Amendment 2 (1950)

The Alabama County Tax, Amendment 2, also known as Amendment 2, was on the ballot in Alabama on November 7, 1950, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that Jefferson County would be authorized to levy and collect an additional tax of 50 cents on each $100 of taxable property for public school purposes; provided such tax shall not be levied until the question of the levy has been submitted to, and authorized by, a majority of the qualified electors of the area affected by the tax.[1]
