No New Taxes Pledge
A minority of Missouri lawmakers signed the 2011 edition of the "No New Taxes Pledge." The Taxpayer Protection Pledge is offered by the nonprofit lobbying organization Americans for Tax Reform with the goal of opposing all tax increases as a matter of principle. Just one out of 34 state Senate members signed the 2011 pledge. Out of 163 state House members, only 38 lawmakers signed.
Koenig signed the pledge.[2]

|My family values are important to me. I have 5 kids 2 of them my wife and I adopted through the foster care. I’m a small business owner who knows what it’s like to have to balance the budget to make ends meet. Through my years in the legislature, I have been chairman of ways and means for 10 years (this committee is in charge of tax policy). As chairman of ways and means I have been effective at pushing conservative policy and no one has cut more taxes in the history of the state of Missouri then I have. I have been effective at cutting taxes for working families, eliminating corporate welfare, cutting government waste and supporting a balanced budget.
- I sponsored and passed the first income tax cut for Missouri families in nearly 100 years. I have cut taxes multiply times and no one has cut more taxes than I have in the history of the state of Missouri. After these tax cuts have been implemented Missouri has maintained a balanced budget. I have opposed corporate welfare and have passed limits to government handouts to large corporations. I have been highly effective as a conservative republican in the legislature.
- I’m proud to have been actively involved in legislation supporting adoption and the sanctity of life in Missouri. I worked to pass bills to improve the adoption process, and I sponsored the heartbeat bill making Missouri the first abortion free state in the country except to protect the life of the mother. As an adoptive parent, I understand how valuable every life is, and that making the adoption process more accessible and affordable for Missouri families is critical to helping children find permanent, loving homes. As State Treasurer, I’ll make sure that resources are available to loving families who wish to provide a forever home to Missouri's foster children.
- As the next State Treasurer, I will fight against Environmental, Social, Governance because your tax dollars should not be used to push the transgender ideology or used to eliminate gasoline vehicles. I will work to make school choice widely available so parents can send their kids to a school of their choice. I will oppose a central bank digital currency because the federal government should not be tracking your purchases.
I'm passionate about being a taxpayer's best friend by lowering the tax burden. I believe in limited government so individuals and small businesses can be free from the heavy hand of government.
As a Christian the most important thing to me is what God will say to me when I die, "good and faithful servant". As to the way I conducted myself in office to uphold God's virtues. To do what is right, honest, have integrity, and uphold the constitution of the United States and of Missouri.
One of the first jobs I had was cutting laws when I was 12 years old. My brother and I had 10 lawns that we cut during the summers. This help teach me money management, hard work and responsibilities at a young age.
I sponsored the heartbeat bill making Missouri abortion free except to save the life of the mother. For this I'm happy to have the endorsement of Missouri Right to Life. My lifetime score from American Conservative Union (C-PAC) is 94%+.
I believe financial transparency in government is important. This why I sponsored a bill creating a transparency portal for Missouri's school choice and look forward to implementing this transparency once elected to the State Treasurer's office.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
