Born to a second-generation Oregonian, I grew up in a small rural town, like many on the Coast and in our District 5. I moved to Florence and opened a small business to make a positive impact on the local economy and community in a sincere way. But living here isn’t easy, and Salem politicians have overlooked the needs of coastal and rural Oregon for far too long.

With my in depth experience and expertise, I will roll up my sleeves to take on the special interests, greedy corporations, and establishment politicians who recklessly spend our hard-earned tax dollars.

I ran for local office because I want to make positive change in our community and enable our workers, retirees and youth to live and work on the Coast as well. As a local leader, I have fought to bring more businesses to Florence, which has created a locally-centered economy. I will be able to deliver results for us in our incredible District.

  • Improving Infrastructure & Access to Healthcare for Rural Communities: Rural communities often suffer from inadequate funding for transportation, health, and education infrastructure, which are interlinked and crucial to overall quality of life. Investing in education supports healthcare and job markets by encouraging people to stay and invest in their communities. A strong educational foundation for youth helps lift people out of poverty. Meanwhile, transportation improvements enhance safety and open up areas for housing development, helping to alleviate the housing crisis. By addressing these interconnected needs, we can significantly improve the quality of life in our rural areas.
  • Diversifying and Increasing Housing Supply: We need to build a more diverse supply of housing and build it fast. Removing the red tape that discourages developers from building housing, such as updating zoning and abatements, should be our first step in opening the door to more units being built in the communities that need them most. Incentivizing property owners to utilize their buildable land, update inhabitable homes and safely use other types of supply for temporary housing. Further investment in preventative support systems for education, healthcare, including behavioral, mental, dental etc… would reduce burdens to communities, families and taxpayers that are common reasons one would become unhoused.
  • Support for Education, Childcare, InHome Care, and Better Jobs & Higher Wages: Investing in education, jobs, and skilled trades creates pathways to opportunity. Expanding access to healthcare, including mental and behavioral health, in rural communities is crucial. Lack of timely and affordable care harms our economy, families, and communities, leading to preventable issues that burden the system. Access to childcare and early learning is vital. Investing in these areas supports not only the children and families directly involved but also strengthens local economies. Supported employees and employers contribute to a thriving community and further economic opportunities.

I am personally passionate about several public policies that affect District 5; Improving Infrastructure and Access to Healthcare for Coastal and Rural Communities, Our Housing Issues and Support for education and affordable child & in-home care while also supporting Better Jobs & Higher Wages for the District.

As an elected official, I take my vote and ability to create policy very seriously. I aim to make thoughtful and informed decisions with always the best of interest of my constituents in mind. My approach involves; constituent input, education, research and analysis, stakeholder consultations, and ethical considerations.

What is the cutest creature in the sea? A cuddlefish.

I am most interested in serving on the Education, Human Services, Housing and Development, and Labor and Business, Healthcare, and Energy and Environment committees.
