Juan Thomas
Juan Thomas (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Illinois House of Representatives to represent District 83. He lost in the Democratic primary on March 17, 2020.
Thomas was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 11th Congressional District of Illinois. He was defeated by Bill Foster in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012.[1]
Biography
Thomas was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois where he attended West Aurora Public Schools. He is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.[2] He received his law degree and Master's in Educational Policy Studies degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. Juan persued a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies at the University of Chicago Divinity School.[2]
Career
Thomas founded The Thomas Group in Aurora in 2003. His areas of practice include real estate/estate planning, governmental compliance, and family law.[2] He served as Labor Counsel to Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White, providing legal advice on labor and employment, and collective bargaining issues for the Office’s approximately 4,000 employees.[2] Thomas serves as the National Secretary of the National Bar Association (NBA) and is a member of the NBA’s Executive Committee.[2]

2012
Thomas ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Illinois' 11th District. Thomas sought the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[3] The signature filing deadline was December 27, 2011, and the primary took place on March 20, 2012.
Thomas and candidate James Hickey were defeated by Bill Foster in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012.[1] In the Republican primary, Judy Biggert ran unopposed.[1] Biggert and Foster face off in the general election on November 6, 2012.
