I'm Leticia Castillo, proud native of the Home Gardens-Corona area and deeply connected to my community. Unlike my fellow candidates, I'm not a career politician but rather a citizen representative. As a Licensed Psychotherapist by profession, I found a lack of genuine representation for my community coming from Sacramento.

Beyond my professional role, I'm a mother and grandmother who firmly believes that parents are the best judges of what is right for their children. I'm committed to restoring a sense of safety and normalcy in our neighborhoods.

In my role as our next Assemblywoman, I pledge to vigorously defend the interests of Riverside and San Bernardino counties against the harmful policies coming from Sacramento that have led to a surge in crime, fueled homelessness, lack of affordable housing, and jeopardized our fundamental parental rights. Together, let's strive for a better future, one that prioritizes the well-being and security of our communities. It's time to rebuild trust and restore common sense!
  • Parental Rights - It’s time to take back our schools, safeguarding parental rights and eliminating politically charged indoctrination from the classroom. Parents stand as the primary educators of their children, and it is imperative that schools refrain from constructing barriers between parents and their minor children. Policies that either deceive or conceal vital information about minor children must not find a place in our educational institutions. Let's work towards fostering transparency and collaboration, ensuring that parents remain actively engaged in their children's education. It's time to rebuild trust!
  • Affordability - It’s time to take back our economy by rolling back government overreach in order to reduce the burdens on Inland Empire families when it comes to essential expenses such as housing, food, and gasoline. I support a lasting decrease in the State Gasoline Tax to bring California's gas prices with the national average. Additionally, it's crucial to reform costly government regulations like CEQA that makes housing less affordable.
  • Public Safety – It’s time to take back our communities by supporting stronger measures to reduce crime and homelessness. Repeal Proposition 47 to put career criminals and repeat offenders back in prison where they belong. Restore significant criminal penalties for organized retail theft. Require mandatory treatment to get the mentally ill and drug-addicted homeless off our streets. It’s clear that soft on crime policies do not work and have harmed businesses in AD58 as well as law abiding citizens. The extreme liberal policies of Governor Newsom and the Democratic supermajority in Sacramento have caused crime, homelessness and housing costs to skyrocket out of control in our local communities. It’s time to restore common sense!
I am deeply passionate about specific public policies that directly impact the safety, well-being, and mental health of our communities.

Public safety, in particular, is an area of focus for me, as current policies place our Law Enforcement Officers at greater risk, hindering their ability to ensure the safety of our neighborhoods.
Protecting parental rights is a key concern as deceptive policies are harmful to families.

As a mental health professional I feel mental health is paramount; it’s inhumane to leave the severe mentally ill on the streets when they aren’t able to care for themselves.
Trustworthy - Doing what is in the best interest of those who put them into office.

Integrity - Doing what’s right when no one is watching.

Responsible - Getting things done.
My initial work experience began with volunteer work as a Candy Striper at Corona Community Hospital, now known as Corona Regional Medical Center, during either junior high or high school. In 11th grade I pursued Cosmetology School at Corona College of Cosmetology completing the 1600 hour program in 12th grade, earning tips for hair and nail services. Transitioning to my first paid job, I worked for an Insurance Agent in Riverside where I developed valuable office skills. I value the professionalism I have achieved over the many decades since I was a young girl, and I have always valued the dignity and importance of work. I believe that my education and work experience reflect the hard work ethic I have put into all that I do and that I will bring with me to Sacramento where I will work on behalf of all of our families and our community. Slowly rebuilding trust and restoring common sense!

I’m a dual Licensed Clinical Therapist who has stepped up to the plate to run for office because Sacramento has failed Californians. I’m a mother and grandmother who has held various jobs in the past, can relate to families who are struggling to keep food on the table or put gas in their tank due to the continuous increase of the water, electricity, and gas tax. Sacramento is completely out of touch with regular everyday Americans and their policies are destroying our state. Our communities need to be safe for all of us especially the elderly who are the most vulnerable by keeping criminals in jail where they belong.

When it comes to health and education parents are the only ones who have the right to determine what is best for their children, not the government or teachers unions.

With the rise in homelessness and working for County Mental Health I see first hand how mental health, substance use, and homelessness are connected and changes need to be made.
  • Public Safety - soft on crime policies are affecting us all and we need strong on crime policies something that I am ready to fight for and make happen.
  • Parental rights - when it comes to children it’s the parents who determine what is best for them in school and health, not the government or teacher’s union.
  • Affordability - California needs to be affordable for working families by lowering taxes both individual and business.
Leticia is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who has a passion for helping others especially those suffering from mental health and seek treatment. Leticia has worked with children who have suffered trauma and is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Leticia is against increasing the gas tax and her opponent voted to increase the gas tax which will increase it by 3 cents per gallon beginning July 1st. Her opponent also voted against a “gas tax holiday” at a time when all Californians are struggling.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
