For the past decade, I have served the Westside of Columbus addressing human service needs. For 6½ years I operated a year-round produce distribution in a community that lacked a public food pantry. I spearheaded the Ville on The Hill program which helps older adults on the Hilltop age in place successfully. I served on the steering committee that opened Jordan’s Crossing Resource Center which provides services to people lacking housing. I provided community education on opiate addiction and harm reduction and I served on the Westland Area Commission for eight years.

I am running for Columbus City Council so I can serve all of Columbus. We are at an exciting turning point where we can become a city where people want to come here and stay here. But we have a lot of work to do to get there so everyone can have housing that’s affordable, one job that pays a living wage, and a community that is safe and thriving for all.

My motto has always been “I get stuff done” and I am prepared to do the hard work that gets results for this city so everyone can thrive and live their American dream.

  • We need housing that is affordable for all income levels.
  • We need more jobs that pay a living wage. No one should have to work multiple jobs to support their family.
  • Every neighborhood should be safe and thriving for everyone.
Housing affordability: We have a growing housing shortage that needs to be addressed so we don't become the next San Francisco.

Public Transportation: We need to improve our public transport so anyone can get to work or school on public transport no matter where they live in Columbus.
Workforce Development: We need to expand opportunities for people to develop the skills needed for good paying jobs.

Safe Options for Seniors: We need to ensure that older adults can successfully age in place if they choose or have local options for safe and affordable care.

I am running for the Ohio House of Representatives in District 23 because I am tired of out-of-touch politicians focusing on their special interests instead of creating opportunities for all Ohioans to be successful and thrive.

For the past seven years, I have been engaged in community advocacy around the opiate epidemic, homelessness, food insecurity, and senior services. I travel around Franklin County educating community groups about addiction and the opiate epidemic and I organized the Hilltop Senior Services Initiative resulting in the launch of Ville on the Hill to help older adults age in place.

I served on Jordan's Crossing Resource Center's Steering Committee which opened a homeless resource center that provides access to drug treatment and a pan handling diversion program. I co-founded and co-chair the Prairie Township Community Health Action Team which has a free year-round monthly produce distribution for low income residents. I am the past chairperson of the Westland Area Business Association and serve on the Westland Area Commission.

My motto is "I get things done." After years of boots on the ground service to the community I am running for State Representative so I can do more to make life better for all Ohioans.

  • I will focus on legislation that will move Ohio forward and make life better for all Ohioans.
  • I will regularly meet with residents to learn about their needs and opinions.
  • I will cross the aisle to work on bipartisan legislation.
Creating good paying careers that can support a family.

Lowering prescription drug costs.
Keeping housing affordable.

Securing options for seniors so older adults can age in place successfully.
Honesty, transparency, connected to the community, collaborative, open minded, willing to listen to opposing views
I am connected to the community, dedicated to public service, collaborative and responsive to the needs of others.

As a community advocate and grassroots organizer, I don't just talk about issues facing communities, I get things done. I do this by listening to the community about their needs, building partnerships with other community leaders, and collaborating with organizations and local government to bring about solutions.

I create opportunities to connect with the community by attending local meetings and events and attending/hosting community meetings and focus groups to learn from community members. Elected officials should represent their constituents and that is only possible when the effort is made to not only hear from them but to build relationships with them.
My first job was working in the in-store catalog department of JC Penney. I was hired in September and was unaware that it was a seasonal position until January when I was told I was being let go because the Christmas rush was over.

While my time there was brief, it was a great learning experience. I believe everyone benefits from working in customer service early in life because you learn how to think on your feet to handle difficult situations while staying calm and polite. You also learn to respect and value the people who work on the front lines of any business.
Front Porch Tales by Philip Gulley because it contains reflections of every day life that nourishes the soul.
I believe that people who are new to government and politics can do great work for the people. However, I believe it is beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience engaging with government and/or politics because that experience gives them an understanding of the process and established relationships with people with whom they will be working.
I believe it is critical for legislators to build relationships with other legislators especially with those who are not of the same political party. As a community advocate, I know from experience that relationships are the key to getting things done. When people know you as a person they are more willing to work with you because you have an established rapport and they know they can trust you.
