Oscar Ward
Oscar Ward was a member of the Irving City Council in Texas, representing Place 5. Ward assumed office in 2014. Ward left office on June 20, 2023.
Ward ran for re-election to the Irving City Council to represent Place 5 in Texas. Ward won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Ward has served as president of the Greater Irving Republican Club.[1]
Biography
Ward earned a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Houston and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. His professional experience includes work in the building and construction materials industry. Ward has served as the chair of the Charter Review Committee and the Building and Standards Commission, president of the Greater Irving Republican Club and the Cardinal Village Neighborhood Association, and a member of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and the Irving Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.[1]

The city of Irving, Texas, held an election for mayor and city council on May 6, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 17, 2017.
Mayor Beth Van Duyne opted not to run for re-election in 2017. The city council seats for Places 3 and 5 were up for election.[2] Incumbent Oscar Ward defeated Abdel Elhassan in the general election for the Place 5 seat on the Irving City Council.[3]

“ | The first top pressing issue is the council passage and subsequent implementation of our city's revised 'Comprehensive Plan'. This plan guides the city both in the development and redevelopment planning for the next ten to twenty years. The second top pressing issue is the development of the Texas Stadium site (79 acres) and the adjacent properties (400 acres) now known as PUB-6 and TIRZ-6.
