Robert E. Gordon (Illinois)
Robert E. Gordon was a judge of the Illinois 1st District Appellate Court. He assumed office on December 7, 2020. He left office on December 4, 2022.
Gordon ran for re-election for the 8th Subcircuit judge of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.
Education
Gordon completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and received his J.D. degree from the DePaul Law School in 1962.[1]
Career
After law school in 1962, Gordon joined a small insurance company as a trial lawyer. He later tried cases for Aetna Insurance. Eighteen years later, he switched from defense litigation to plaintiff personal injury, criminal defense, defense of automobile dealers and factories, trade dress, workers compensation condemnation, commercial, franchising, zoning, and sports law. He worked as a principal in the firm of Gordon and Brustin, Gordon, Brustin & Schaefer and in Gordon & Gordon, Ltd. He was appointed to the Cook County Circuit Court in 1996, and was retained to this position in 2002. In July of 2006, he joined the appellate court as an assigned judge.[1] He was appointed to the appellate court on December 7, 2020.[2]
