I am a Christian, conservative Republican. Married to my bride of 23 years. 3 adult 'kids' and 3 grand kids. My philosophy of government is: Less Government, More Freedom.
  • Repairing the roads we have, building the roads we need and ensuring our fair share of the infrastructure funding is one of my top priorities.
  • There is nothing more important than the safety of our community. In order to have a safe and secure community we must ensure that our law enforcement officers have the proper tools and training to keep us safe. I'll fight everyday to make sure that our men and women have the funding and other resources to protect us and themselves.
  • As a Grandfather of 3, I have a vested interest in our school system. It's important that we make sure that we are preparing every child for college or to join the workforce. I'll advocate for education funding to go to the classroom and not be held up in administration. I believe our teachers deserve to be paid in line with the importance of their profession. I'll also fight to make sure that parents are empowered and have a voice in their child's education.
Keeping the taxes down and giving back the freedoms that the government continues to take from the people.
As an engineer, I tend to analyze just about everything. That typically leads me to try and fix it if it's broken!
to be upfront with your constituents and to listen carefully to their needs.
Roger loved God, was honest, true to his word and try to treat others as I would want to be treated. I also didn't take life TOO seriously
Yes, to be able to learn from others and to understand where the other facets of government are dealing with.
Government should be open and honest, especially as it pertains to money

Roger Allen Nutt, 54, a lifelong resident of Spartanburg County, currently serves as the Representative for County Council District 6.

Roger is a supporter of the NRA and a strong believer and supporter of the U.S. Constitution. His strong belief that government should be limited, yet efficient and effective in its service to the people, along with his support of free market principles and private property rights, guides him in his representation. Roger has a strong belief that government works best when the citizens become informed and involved - therefore government must be open, honest and transparent.

Roger is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of South Carolina and Georgia and is currently serving as Chairman of the Spartanburg County Public Works-Building And Grounds Committee, Chairman of the Land Use Committee and is a member of the Economic Development Committee. He also serves as a member of Spartanburg Area Transportation Study (SPATS), the CTC (County Transportation Committee) Advisory Committee, the Appalachian Council Of Governments Board of Directors and the Area Performance Planning Committee - Southwest Corridor. In 2016, Roger was appointed by the Governor to the SC Workforce Development Board as the Chief Elected Official-County Seat Representative. In 2018 Roger

was elected to serve on the Animal Allies Board of Directors.
Ronald Reagan. He was a strong, but meek leader that knew he had to work with all sides to accomplish his goals. He didn't waiver on his principles, but understood how to make things happen and wasn't afraid to take the hard stand when necessary.
Honesty, transparency, principled thinking, faithfulness to the Oath.
Yes. Until you've faced a political situation that is heavily divided, it's tough to know how to respond and react in a manner that best serves those you represent. Political experience is definitely a plus in those tough situations.
Yes, it is vitally important to build a relationship with all of the legislators. We should work as a group to get things done...even when we disagree on an issue, having a civil relationship can lead to compromise and therefore we're able to get more things done for those that we represent.
I would like to be a part of the committee dealing with infrastructure and/or land use. Being a civil engineer (perhaps the only engineer in the legislature) I think I am well suited for the role.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in South Carolina

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
