These things have I spoken to you, that ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good courage; I have overcome the world.

Now these were more liberally minded men than those of Thessalonica, for they received the word with all readiness of mind, daily, examining the Scriptures if these things were really so.

Then Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat falling on the earth undergo a deathlike change, it abideth single: but if it [thus] die, it beareth abundant produce. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, shall preserve it to life eternal. If a man will be my servant, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my servant be: and if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name! Then came a voice from heaven, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The multitude that stood by, and heard it, said that it was thunder: others said, An angel hath spoken to him. Jesus answered and said, This voice came not for my sake, but for your's. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the ruler of this world be ejected out [of it]. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
