For from the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies:
for from within, from the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, covetousness, malice, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I do this I approve not; for I do not what I wish, but what I hate, this I do.
because having known God they glorified him not as God neither were thankful, but became vain in their reasonings and their ignorant mind was darkened.
but the Scripture has shut up all under sin, that the promise of the faith of Jesus Christ may be given to them that believe.
If we say we have not sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
And so, my beloved, as you always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;
Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that does the will of my Father in heaven.
And he said to him, Why do you ask me of the good? one is the good. But if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.
I speak after the manner of men on account of the weakness of your flesh. For as you presented your members servants to impurity and to wickedness in wickedness, so now present your members servants to righteousness in sanctification.
Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us purify ourselves from every defilement of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
But do you, O man of God, avoid these things; but pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, patience, meekness.
and for the same purpose also, giving all diligence add to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, and to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, and to patience piety, and to piety brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
Wherefore, beloved, looking for these things, be diligent that you may be found in him without a spot and blemish, in peace,
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? By no means. On the contrary I knew not sin except through the law; for I had not known inordinate desire, unless the law had said, You shall not desire inordinately.
And we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we may know the things given us by God, which we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receives not the [things] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot know them, for they are spiritually discerned.
And I say, walk in the Spirit and perform not the desire of the flesh.
If you love me, keep my commandments; and I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot receive, because it beholds it not nor knows it; but you know it, because it continues with you, and shall be in you.
For what the law could not do because it was weak through the flesh, God having sent his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned the sin in the flesh, that the righteous ordinance of the law may be performed by us who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the spirit. For they who are according to the flesh mind the things of the flesh, but they who are according to the spirit the things of the spirit;
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.
But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you to salvation by purification of spirit, and belief of the truth,
according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied to you.
As his divine power has given us all things which pertain to life and piety, through the knowledge of him that has called us to his own glory and virtue,
I am the vine, you are the branches. He that continues in me and I in him, this man bears much fruit; for separated from me, you can do nothing.
For no trial has befallen you but what is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the trial will order the event, that you may be able to endure.
Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil;
For God gave us not a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
For because he has himself suffered, having been tried, he is able to help the tried.
But he gives more grace; wherefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Miserable man that I am; who will deliver me from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord; therefore I myself with the mind serve the law of God, and with the flesh the law of sin.
who also will confirm you to the end, without blame, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
and put on the new man, created after God in righteousness and true holiness.
and put on the new man, renewed in knowledge in the likeness of him that created him,
having this same confidence, that he who has begun a good work in you will carry it on till the day of Jesus Christ,
to confirm your hearts without blame in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
Beloved, now are we children of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be. We know, that if he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he may be a first-born among many brothers;
And we all with unvailed face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same likeness, from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord.
But we, according to his promise, look for a new heaven and a new earth, in which dwells righteousness.
The Son of man will send his angels, and they shall collect out of his kingdom all offenses, and all that commit wickedness, and cast them into a furnace of fire; and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous shall shine out like the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that has ears, let him hear.
But the fearful and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.
Without are dogs and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers and idolaters and whoever loves and practises falsehood.
